Advice needed from Clean Queen GNs

Get a bottle of ammonia. Put the oven racks into a black plastic bag outside. Tip in the bottle of ammonia. Tie up the bag and leave overnight. The burnt on marks will just float away when you rinse the oven racks the next day. Works every time.

Soak them overnight in hot water and soda crystals
Everything just washes off with no hard rubbing
Brilliant stuff .

Much easier with Oven Pride, believe me!

It's my idea of hell !
But here's what I do and it works .
I soak racks in hottish water with a good dollop of Ariel overnight .
I've found that spots soak off or are removed with the gentlest of effort .

Not much work, crazyH. Buy 2 Oven Prides - one for the racks in the bag and the rest wiped around the oven. Then call in the PROFESSIONALS around Christmas! ?

Look in your local gazette for an Oven Cleaner - or for a cheaper alternative, those Ovenpride cleaners are fantastic, but involves a little bit of work, mainly washing the cleaner off the racks etc. and the floor of the oven. The former is about £25 for Oven and £25 for Hob.

Either buy Oven Pride (Wilko’s or Amazon- cheap/easy) or get a professional in which will cost upwards of £45. I have the professional in once a year and Oven Pride otherwise.

Go onto the Lakeland website. Oven Mate oven cleaner and Oven Mate Just For Racks. They’re both probably the best cleaners of their type I’ve ever used. With Just For Racks you get a bottle of gel, a brush, gloves and a couple of soaking bags. Take the racks and put them in a bag, pour on the gel and seal the bags. Then watch the dirt dissolve. Keep turning the bags every half hour or so, so that the get is evenly spread. I find a couple of hours is more than enough to get them clean but if it’s really bad, give it a bit longer. Any residue left on the racks should be easily removable with a Brillo pad.

The oven cleaner is great too - it can even be used on the glass in the door - just open the door so that the glass is lying flat, brush on and wipe off when the dirt dissolves.

Ovenpride it costs around a fiver so nothing to lose really.

I use Brillo pads but Ovenpride, Mr Muscle oven cleaner or GAMI sound better.

Yep.. Fully agree been doing this for years.

I put the racks in my dishwasher- take them out when the washing cycle has just finished and before the drying cycle begins. Any tough stains still remaining come off very easily when you give them a quick scour (the baked on food just slips off).

I recently cleaned my oven shelves by dissolving two or three dishwasher tablets in hot water in the bath. Soaked overnight. Most of the burned on grease had soaked off by morning. The residue I removed easily with a gentle scrub using a sponge scourer. I recommend using a 'hair catcher' in the plughole to collect the bits.

Pay someone.

There are many oven cleaners that come with a bag to put the oven racks in, they come out perfectly clean.

Or buy Ovenpride, it comes with a bag into which you insert the racks and some of the liquid, seal. Turn the bag occasionally - result, sparkling racks.

Soak them in hot water and washing soda, it will soften the burnt on bits and they'll scrub off easily.

I always forget to clean my oven until the shelves are pretty grubby, and the washing soda works every time.

Have you tried Rushmoor golden scouring pads? They come in a pack of 2 and costs are around £2. Amazon sell them. They’re like the green scourers but so much better! I keep one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom.
