My stomach dropped when I heard this on the news. The poor family of the little girl who was murdered having to go through the court case and the family of the boy as well knowing their son did something so awful. Complete and utter tragedy ?

I m not sure what case you’re referring to but the boy in Logan’s murder at 14 was jailed for life although that only meant 15 years

I assume you are talking about young Ava, tragic, she looked like a sweet girl I saw it on MSN.
But there were 2 things I didn't understand.
There were people on the MSN thread giving angry faces to comments, why? Where is their empathy for this poor girl and her family.
The other thing I don't understand is the boy's comment about not understanding the difference between murder and manslaughter, what has that got to do with anything? He killed her, give it whatever title he wants, he is still a killer and will hopefully see the same 4 walls for a lot longer than 13 years.

What really worried me about Logan's child murderer, was that the boy had an obsession with death and killing people. He had been in care and his carers had expressed worries and had had him moved, yet Social Services returned him to a highly dysfunctional home,m seemingly with no concerns about his abnormal mind set.

The loss for Ava's family is infinite, but the boy involved doesn't seem to have had a death obsession.

Even for children, life is life - in that they will be under supervision, and able to be called back to prison anytime for the rest of their lives. The 15 year prison sentence, just means the minimum sentence they must serve.

One of the boys involved with the murder of James Bulger, has been recalled back to prison several times.

Ava’s killer, though 14 years old , looks so small, more like a 7 year old. Probably was teased because of that. No excuse ofcourse ….

How do you know crazy, his identity is a closely guarded secret?

Smiles - I’m sure I saw it on the internet - either that or the sun has got to me ?

It’s on the Daily Mail Website -

He had ADHD and attended a special school. But, I would suggest was not properly assessed and supervised. There is no reason why a child with ADHD and attending a special school should act like this.

Life appears to be about 15 years these days.

it showed a 'blurred' picture of him at the desk in police station stating he could hardly see over the top. could not of course identify him from 'picture'

in a town near me lots of youngsters gather groups of young girls thinking they're grown up and the same with the boys..

read the case and seems to me teasing between the groups was going on between ava and the boy ........she would still be alive had he not had that vicious knife on him!.......a shockingly tragic case

No - Life is Life. Not life incarcerated - but when he comes out, as a lifer, he will be out on licence and able to be recalled at anytime.

All life terms are life long. Only the period of time in prison is variable. Some criminals get Life long sentences some get shorter minimum terms, but there is no guarantee they will be released when that time is up.

There have been several cases where the victims of a criminals, mainly murder and rape have protested when they heard their attacker was about to be released on licence and the release has been delayed.

Just as it should be, to my mind.

It’s just sad all round if the boy hadn’t had a knife they d have probably have had a few punches a few insults a few tears and that’s it The knife changes everything for both children one with no life and one with a damaged life
Something has to be done about knife crime amongst all but especially young people
