Too hot to sleep ?

I would love to see a fox in the garden. I've only ever seen one - in a field in France.

Disco has ended thankfully. Must try to sleep.
Quiet day here tomorrow. The place will be deserted as most people head to parades. Everything except petrol stations closed.

I absolutely hate earwigs. I remember finding one close to my baby sons face as he slept in his cot. So shocked.
Aren't you worried about Leggy finding his way into your bed?

I've just heard a faint rumble of thunder.

Oh I'm terrified of spiders.
It's like a nature reserve here lately.

I keep expecting David Attenborough to start narrating.
Mice, flying ants, earwigs, and a fox who keeps pooping on my backdoor mat and digging up my plants.

I don't remember 1976. I had three children then. I was probably too exhausted at night for anything to keep me from sleep.

I’ve mulled over them for years.
I’ve read mixed reviews.
The fans that I’ve got are absolutely brilliant (they have to be) but they are far from silent.
Is yours a hot and cold one, or just cold?
If I did get one I’d get it from QVC so I could send it back if need be…

I've noticed less moths recently although we don't get huge numbers, also spiders, but I don't mind that.
I wonder if a cooling mat for the bed would be a good idea.

When I was a student I lived in an attic flat for a while, and I loved it.

Was 76 the ladybird year too?
I was only 4, but I dread to think how my mom coped.
I do remember our full length orange (of course!) living room curtains being constantly closed.

I’m wide awake too looking out over the roofs and treetops of Walthamstow from the top floor of D’s house, where the only sound is my (nearly) silent Dyson fan. It’s strangely beautiful. Being a loft conversion there are big windows, Velux fore and regular aft and TG they can be left open, but like you I’m sticky and wide awake.
At least in the country it cools down at night .
I’m just hoping the little boys are sleeping through -as far as they ever do at 10 months and 3 y.
Who remembers 1976?
We had a 1 y old and were living in a West facing 1st floor flat in S London with no garden. James Dyson has not yet invented his near-silent fans and it was HELL!

I got Gracie a cooling mat, but she totally ignored it.
I’ve been looking at paddling pools on Amazon tonight.
For her and my feet.

It’s 17 degrees here as well. I’d join the dog on her cooling mat if there was room.

Oh no! (The disco)
I didn’t really know about the 12 th celebrations until recently.
I heard about that chap who fell off the bonfire today.
Apropos of nothing - I’ve noticed that there are hardly any moths about. In fact, I’ve just seen one in about 3 hours.
We back onto fields and woodland, and if I had the bathroom window open and turned on the light, the room would be full of them.
But not now.
There have been very few swifts and house martins too.
It’s very worrying

Goodness! I don't know how you cope with that heat FannyC .It's 17 degrees here and I'm in a light satin nightie and too hot. I've just been to refill my water bottle.
Not only that but someone in the next street is having a very loud outdoor disco.
In N Ireland 11th of July celebrations go on until the early hours (and then they all attend Twelfth parades with massive hangovers).

But remember, it’s either the flannel Jim jams plus wee Willy winky hat; or President Jeremy Corbyn (or something like that)
