It's 09.30 and my thoughts are turning to lunch.

Jazz dance class later so will have my usual smoked salmon and scrambled eggs - something light to keep me light on my toes!

No idea about tonight... maybe salad, something from the freezer, odds & sods from fridge, who knows smile

We had a party on Saturday

Party leftovers on Sunday

Ditto yesterday

More of the same today…………. I obviously overbought.

Dinner was fishcakes and salad

Lunch: small chicken pieces poached on a bed of courgettes and tomatoes, with new potatoes and mange tout from the garden then half a Galia melon
Supper: ham salad and fresh apricots.

Lunch was a bagel filled with cheese, tomato and mayonnaise. I'm roasting a chicken shortly to have cold later on with mango and lettuce, and either new potatoes or oven chips.

Chicken will then form the basis of dinner for the next couple of days.

I was going to have the rare treat of fish and chips from the chippy for my tea tonight, but they've decided it's too hot and are closed until Wednesday. Cocoa pops it is then.

ExDancer Mon 18-Jul-22 12:52:50

We're also from t'North west too and eat a lot of sandwiches (occasionally we go all posh and have a bap,) and I might get brave and grill some bacon.
Dunno what's for tea (sorry dinner) yet, can't decide whether to strangle some eggs, or toast some cheese.

I've just checked and most of the recipes that used to be there have disappeared!
Apologies.

What about a gransnet recipe book. I’ve seen some interesting and easy meals here

What a fabulous idea @Iam64

There are a lot of recipes on the site

If you click on More in the tabs across the top, then Food will come up and you can find recipes that Gransnetters have contributed.

Chewbacca Mon 18-Jul-22 12:37:52

Confess when I read ‘chip butties’ my mouth watered
We had fruit and yoghurt for breakfast. Lunch will be salad with ham and cheese for himself, tuna for me
Dinner/tea - non for mr i it’s quiz night so he has sandwiches and pasties there. I may strangle some eggs for mine

Here Oop north were having jam butties for breakfast:chips and scraps for dinner washed down with some Aldi pop;tea tonight(dinner to the southerners?) We're having a Gregg's pie with chips mushy peas and gravy with 2 or 3 pints of full strength to keep hydrated.......... Gosh! Did I say that?! We're having mackerel salads for lunch .salmon in dill and cream sauce with tagliatelle and lemon and lime individual trifles (ALL made from scratch by me) I'm also making some french style vanilla slices this evening soon as cool enough to use oven. And choux buns to freeze. Just an average menu for an average couple who live in an extraordinarily beautiful region, north west England.

I too have lots of courgettes delicious with spinach in an omelette with cottage cheese for lunch. Left over roast chicken and veg fried rice for tea and lots of watermelon.

Hetty58 Mon 18-Jul-22 10:25:46

Knowing the heatwave was coming, I've various pre-cooked and chilled options in the fridge. I might microwave something later but there's absolutely no way I'm warming the house by using the cooker. Chilled beans (the tin's in the fridge) with salad for lunch and maybe a curry for dinner - along with fruit salad, cold roasted veg and ice cream for snacks!

Callistemon21 Mon 18-Jul-22 10:20:43

DH just brought in 5 more courgettes!
I already have 2 in the fridge.

Courgettes anyone?

Callistemon21 Mon 18-Jul-22 10:18:37

Whitewavemark2

Lunch - courgette omelet
Dinner - fish and potato tray bake with more courgettes? and red pepper accompanied by French beans.

Do you grate the courgette, Whitewave?

Lime and Courgette cake is delicious but I'm not going to be doing any baking!
