Where to stitch on a Brownie badge? Anyone know?

The problem is that the sashes are currently out of stock (except the extra wide and extra long sashes).

That uniform picture was exactly like my daughter's from the late 1980s. They wore the dress and a brown woolly hat. Then in 1990 the Guide uniform changed to t-shirt, sweatshirt, trousers and sash. The Brownie uniform changed in 1992 to yellow t-shirt and ghastly baggy brown culottes. The sashes were introduced for them to sew the badges on. I would continue to sew them on the sashes as it's a good idea.

My granddaughter has her badges sewn on her sash.

Oops, thanks for the photo,my brownie uniform was as the same as yours I must have joined in 1956! Loved it ,I was a Sprite. ' Here we come the sprightly sprites brave and helpful like the knights' Not able to assist with badge stitching on today's uniform. After Brownies came the Guides - very happy days for me. Took my warrant in my early 30s and became Tawny Owl. Guiding has made a massive impact on me.

My DGDs have been Brownies and are now Guides. All their badges have been sown on to fleece blankets (with all their other badges for swimming, gymnastics badges gained over the years). The girls choose the positioning and I just machine them (I find stitching through the badges impossible by hand). The blankets are getting very crowded now but more will be coming shortly.
I did the same for my DDs badges, although hers were on her uniform till she moved up through brownies, guides, scouts, ventures. Today, it seems some groups display their badges on uniforms, while others choose not too! All mine from the 50/60s are in my memory box somewhere.

Time pin? Type of pin.

Maybe the clover leaf came in a bit later, I was a brownie from 1959 un til I went ‘up’ into the guides, TBH I don’t remember what time pin I had then.

Attached is a pic of the uniform (from Pinterest) I’d forgotten that it was a brown dress, not a skirt and blouse.

Oopsadaisy I don't remember that. It was a long time ago ?? I don't think I had a gold pixie badge either, thinking about it. I seem to remember something like a clover badge pinned in the middle of my yellow tie - wasn't there a badge you got for taking your Brownie Promise or something?? Or am I thinking of the Girl Guides....

That takes me back! Mine had all theirs sewn on their sashes.

Arewethereyet top left hand breast pocket of shirt held our Brownie Hand book? Or a Brownie book with the Brownie Promise in it? Can’t remember the name of the booklet though.

Elizabeth27 That's an interesting chart - I was a bit gobsmacked at the number of badges. I think when I was a Brownie I just had my pixie badge above my pocket, the group name on the shoulder and about half a dozen skill badges.

I sewed mine onto my sleeve, 1960 ish, I was about 8?

Brown long sleeved blouse, brown skirt, brown beret, Yellow tie that had to be folded. Just. So.

And a brass pixie badge that had to be cleaned every week

Long white sox and newly polished shoes and I had to do it myself.

Then it started all over again but in blue for the Girl Guides.

Happy days.

Best NOT to sew these into uniform. They grown out of those and each time it gets washed the badges seem to shrink a little. Sew them onto a Sash that they can wear and then that can be kept put away for them.

When my DD was a Brownie, 40 odd years ago, thank goodness my mum was around to sew on all the badges, plus cub ones for her brother.

Am ashamed to say I can hardly sew a button on! Always loathed anything to do with a sewing basket.

I think they can choose where to put them .I always sewed them on the sash for my granddaughter.

I was enlisted to sew on all the badges for my twin GC . I found on line pictures and diagrams on where to put them . I printed them out and kept them in my sewing box .
