The chair……I can now see it!

Here is my chair in the bedroom.
I think many of us have one.
It’s never sat in but just used as a halfway house between the laundry and the wardrobe and a useful resting place for a plethora of stuff!

I have moved; gym bag, make up bag, deodorant, paperwork for a new appliance, many clothes, hair tools and finally the glasses I was looking for?.

Do you have a chair?
Would you be brave enough to photograph it?

We have a matching box where Orlin dumps his stuff, it’s clear today, he must have known

LauraNorderr Fri 15-Jul-22 14:08:36

My chair before and after. No excuse really as it has a hidey hole so I could be tidier.

I am loving this thread, and looking at the wonderful collection of bedroom chairs.
We have a Lloyd loom chair that only has my things on overnight. DH plonks his on top of a chest of drawers.

I think I was so untidy in my teens, at home, that I am now much better

Aveline Fri 15-Jul-22 13:58:51

In my defense all our other chairs are clutter free! (Apart from the odd cat of course)
That bedroom chair in my pic is also their fort. One goes under it and safely bops passers by.

Forgot the pic!

GraceQuirrel Fri 15-Jul-22 13:49:16

I have a stool, room far too small for a chair. Dog walking clothes and a kaftan for when it’s hot. Never to be mixed up!

Mrsdof

As said by others what a great post this is. My chair is the one I use for my dressing table. It rarely has anything left on it. It’s not that I am particularly tidy it’s just that the bedroom is very small so everything is always put away.

What an unusual chair! Lovely

Coconut

I’ve had wall 3 pictures and a dangly candle thingy for the ceiling …. All on the chair for at least 2 months now waiting to be put up ?

Gorgeous chair, Coconut

Saxifrage I would love to see your chair. I wonder would it look worse than Aveline's. grin

Love some of these chairs. Great thread.

I'm trying to get DH to relocate his jigsaw puzzles from the dining room to a cupboard somewhere
He needs another reminder, perhaps I'll try to spread them across the hall floor ?

grin
We have a sideboard in the hall that held extra food during the pandemic. It now holds lots of jigsaws as I became addicted to them during lockdown.

I don’t have a chair I have a a bed foot board. My side has half worn cardigans and jumpers on oh and the dress I took off before my nap ( see, I do get properly dressed sometimes- see previous thread)

nadateturbe Fri 15-Jul-22 13:25:15

Mrsdof, I love your chair.

Why is everyone reluctant to hang clothes in the wardrobe, once worn? I put mine on a hanger, air them and then back into wardrobe. Surely that would keep them in better shape for the next wear.

mrsgreenfingers56 Fri 15-Jul-22 13:09:50

Love this! Would dare send a pic of my chair, full of all sorts of things, mainly clothes been on once, don't need washing but don't like to put back in the wardrobe.

Now where was that scarf I was looking for?!

Happysexagenarian Fri 15-Jul-22 13:02:47

Mrsdof I love your butterfly chair, that's so pretty.

Happysexagenarian Fri 15-Jul-22 13:01:04

Our bedroom is too small for a chair, but we have a lovely 200 year old chair in the dining room which is often piled high with fabrics when I'm sewing, we never seem to actually sit on it. It's clear at the moment. TBH any empty flat surface in our house is fair game for clutter!

Sorry I can't do the tech for sending photo but I have a nice Ercol beech rocking chair in the bedroom. I bought it a few years ago from a local charity shop. It's currently draped with a skirt, T-shirt, socks, underwear and a tote bag. This thread prompts me to tidy up. When uncluttered it's a stylish piece of furniture with a nice teal-coloured cushion on the seat. It should see the light of day more often.

Now this is the kind of GN post I like! No-one being smug, self righteous or critical, just a group of equals having a fun conversation. After the PJs thread it’s like a breath of fresh air. Me - 2 spare dining chairs and I’d think I was in the wrong house if they were clear.

CBBL Fri 15-Jul-22 12:38:07

Yes, I have a recliner chair (moved into the bedroom, ostensibly for an expected guest - when I bought a Rocking Chair for myself, which is now in the living room)!
There is also a full sized bookcase in the same bedroom, due to the lack of wall space elsewhere (three other, similar bookcases are accommodated in the hall and the office).

I had a plastic folding chair with a tubular metal frame which was used in the same way - some items untouched for many years. Then my daughter broke her ankle and needed a seat in the shower. The pile of stuff was hastily relocated and still not sorted through! Daughter now weight bearing so my chair is available again. I still have to decide whether to put it back where it was, sort the stuff and allow it to be a dumping ground again or not.

I have a storage chest in my bedroom and am in the process of emptying it and replace with a chair. Having read the posts and seen the photos I’m having second thoughts ?

My chair is an embarrassment! It's particularly heavily loaded just now as the weather has lurched from being boiling hot to cooler and vice versa and I've thrown hardly worn tops and trousers on the chair ready for the next change.
The chair is an old Georgian one, a veteran of many generations in our family. It deserves better.

I think I win the prize for the most items on one chair! The upholstered one is for my moulting cat (cushion needs a good vacuuming!), and the other has my whole collection of trousers ready for size sorting since I lost some weight and most of them are too now large. The jigsaw puzzles have multiplied during and since lockdown, so I have run out of storage space.
