Hours!! I spent hours watering the garden!

Pittcity Fri 15-Jul-22 07:21:32

Good morning from sunny Colchester. The carpet fitter will be back again soon. They got upstairs finished yesterday but when they took up the lounge carpet there were a couple of trenches in the concrete that needed filling and allowing to dry overnight. I have to pop to the bank for some cash to give them for the extra work and then get the house back into order. This evening will be spent collapsed in a sweaty heap.
Love to all ? x

Good morning all from a warm and sunny North Leicestershire.

If she is up to it we are taking a picnic to DD1's house. She had her 2nd chemo on Tuesday and has, thus far, avoided going back to hospital this time.

Love and support to all who need it.

Pittcity Fri 15-Jul-22 07:25:19

Just reading through the thread and the advert is for "Stranger Things". Are they trying to tell us something?

Marydoll Fri 15-Jul-22 07:27:29

Good morning all from a cloudy and damp Glasgow.
To those suffering from the heat, you are welcome to our rain, we have plenty!

GM, it sounds as if you have a very supportive group of friends.

Yesterday, I persuaded DH to take me to LIDL, I knew I couldn't manage on my own. Because I haven't ventured out much, my baking cupboard was bare. I have even used up the stash from the nuclear bunker, as the lodgers call it.
While we were there, my phone alerted me that someone was at our front door.
Being Amazon prime day, the lodgers had ordered lots of goods for their new home, but hadn't given a thought about who would take delivery. Well they had obviously bargained on me not going out. wink.
I phoned my friend across the road, to ask her to check for parcels. However, there were none, so I started to worry about where the parcels had been put.

Once we arrived home, DH checked the video, only to find the mysterious stranger at the door was me.
I am in a sorry state, I do not recognise myself anymore! ?
DD has been messing about updating our Alexas and Sonos system, but everything has gone pear shaped! There has been a delay in the doorbell alerts as a result.

Each time I opened my phone, the conservatory Alexa started playing random songs from my Spotify list, but DD didn't know what she had done. It was driving SIL, who was working in the dining room, mad!
When Dollie (an Alex expert) asked her, to switch on the TV, DD and SIL, got a shock , when their bedroom TV came on unprompted, as they were lying in bed.
I am living in a mad house at the moment!?
Only two weeks until they get their keys! I can't wait, but SIL is reluctant to leave this 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ hotel!

I hope all the poorly people, especially the DDs are coping in the heat. They must be so uncomfortable.
Kitty and Chrissielou, so painful to watch your daughters struggling.
Kalu, I hope the appointments went well yesterday.

I had a phone appointment with a nurse yesterday, about my endoscopy, they were completely unaware of my complex medical history and it has left me quite unsettled.
Today, I will speak with the cardiologist about the new drug trial.
I was unsettled anyway, because my friend across the road, was told yesterday, the tumour he had removed from his bowel, was cancerous. He had absolutely no symptoms at all. A timely reminder for us all, to do that bowel screening test!

Wishing you all, the best day possible. I may make gooseberry jam in my jam maker, if the nausea subsides. As opposed to GM's Carpe diem, my mantra has become, Carpe horam, wink

Good morning all from a soggy Polmont where it's currently 13° and damp. Lots more rain on the way I think. It's very still outside which makes a change from the constant wind we've been having. Nannytopsy happy anniversary to you both. NanKate enjoy your trip to the New Forest.
Yesterday I got three layers of undercoat on my front door. I pottered about between coats. I have realised that my eyesight isn't great for decorating anymore.
Today I have a chiropodist appointment so I'll clean the windows before I go,then put a top coat on the door when I get back. Have a good day all.

ginny Fri 15-Jul-22 07:36:06

Good morning everyone. A bright start here in N. Bucks.
We had an easy journey home yesterday after a lovely holiday. Today will be a sorting out and planning day.
It is St. Swithins day and also my birthday. I think I have only had a handful of birthdays without rain but today may be another.
Out for a meal with all the family this evening. Looking forward to some cuddles with the little ones too.

Wishing all a good day especially those with worries or illness.

ShazzaKanazza Fri 15-Jul-22 07:38:49

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. Enjoying these couple of cooler days. Then we are heading to the furnace that is London on Sunday.

Nannytopsy enjoy your wedding anniversary today. ?
Urms Matt certainly has a lot of topics at the moment.

Yesterday we went to a designer outlet near York and I bought some sandals in a silvery colour which I’m wearing in round the house and a bag in all sorts off bronze and beige colours. DH persuaded me to buy the bag.
We got the park and ride bus into York a route which I often rode with my Grandmother when I was young. It brought back many memories. She was Estonian and I vividly remember her calling me from the top deck and how it was mortifying at the time to a young teen. I realised how much I missed that voice.

Today I’m heading to the gym and we have DGS from school.

Enjoy all your activities today. Hoping those with stress and illness worries have some respite today. ??

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks bright through the window. I will watch my two V&A lectures on the Edwardians this morning. That will take me up to lunchtime. I didn’t get much done yesterday as I was still feeling exhausted from my Vienna trip and late return home. OH cooked dinner and I didn’t go out to my friend’s. So I hope to perk up today, the forecast is for no more than 24 degrees, so I can cope with that. I ordered my monthly prescription last weekend so they should have read my email on Monday, I usually get a text telling me it’s ready for collection after 2/3 days. For the last couple of months it’s been 6 days. I run out of one of my tablets over the weekend so hope I hear today. I too have been described as having a complex medical history. Unnerving?

ShazzaKanazza Fri 15-Jul-22 07:51:35

Have a wonderful time at your concert Granmadinosaur hope for pics tomorrow.
Ginny happy birthday ?

harrigran Fri 15-Jul-22 07:52:35

Good morning from a cooler Northumberland.
Today we plan to visit Holy island, it is accessible by a causeway from 8.15 am but will need to leave by 2pm.
Yesterday half the family went out walking at St Abb's head the rest of us had a restful day. I read my book and had an afternoon nap.
We had a heavy shower, first real rain in ages. Apparently rained at home too so don't need to worry about my patio plants.

dragonfly46 Fri 15-Jul-22 07:53:07

Good morning - looks like another scorcher here in Leicestershire.

GrannyGravy your experience of cruising was identical to ours - Norway, good friends, not sure if I want to go again!

Happy Anniversary NannyTopsy and Happy Birthday ginny.

Nothing planned today but thinking of those who are unwell and particularly those whose daughters are undergoing treatment. It is very gruelling for all concerned.

Marydoll Fri 15-Jul-22 07:54:07

Happy birthday, ginny and anniversary wishes for Mr & Mrs Topsy. ???

brook2704 Fri 15-Jul-22 08:06:25

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and much cooler than the last few days. Yesterday we had a bit of drizzley rain but nothing much
A very Happy Birthday ginny enjoy your special day and Happy Anniversary nannytopsy! ????
Today I’ve got a routine check up at the hospital, then the Aqua class at the gym followed by a coffee and a long catch up with my gym pal. DGS returns from his cub camp today and DD2 and the rest of the family all return from their holidays, hoping they’ve all had a great time!
Thinking of those with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings ?

Kalu Fri 15-Jul-22 08:11:51

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow On this occasion I welcomed the sound of rain last night which allowed me a night off from turning on sprinklers and watering pots. Every cloud….

DH’s appointments yesterday couldn’t have gone better as all staff concerned, were extremely pleased with his progress. I was especially pleased for DH to have such reassuring news, the look on his face said it all and we returned home in a much lighter mood.

DD2 is taking GD1 for a driving lesson today and this afternoon treating both GDs to lunch in town. Both girls are loving having time with their Aunt before she returns to Australia. A fact I refuse to dwell on.

kitty and chrissielou. I send much love and strength to your girls. Such a painful time for all of you.

Happy Anniversary Mr&MrsTopsy ?
Marydoll Always in my thoughts through your struggles dear friend. x

Hoping today is a good day for all.

baubles Fri 15-Jul-22 08:34:56

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where we are between showers.

Another wet Fair Friday! This is the start of the traditional Glasgow Fair fortnight when factories and engineering works (when we had them) used to close for the annual holiday.

We spent a pleasant couple of hours in the cafe at Holyrood Palace yesterday with DS’s family and my brother and partner. We are regulars there and I filled up my loyalty card again.

DH has golf booked but is checking the forecast anxiously so I may not have my empty after all. I’m looking forward to a quiet day.

Have the best day possible everyone. ?

BlueBalou Fri 15-Jul-22 08:38:27

Good morning everyone, it’s another lovely sunny start here in my corner of Wiltshire, there’s a pleasant breeze.
Just back from walking DDog, I drove to the village and we circuited a big field twice, probably 2.5 miles? It took an hour of steady walking (me!) and crazy circles (DDog ?) so now she’s flat out snoring.
Housework this morning, change the bed etc. At least the washing dries quickly!
Hope you all have a good day x

Grammaretto Fri 15-Jul-22 08:47:10

Good morning all from me Scottish Borders where it's cold and raining. St Swithin's day of course.
At least I don't have to water the garden.
Unlike your easy drive yesterdayMaw my journey back from the Highlands with my cousin was dire. She noticed the unnecessarily complicated road signs but the worst was finding road closed signs and passing a dreadful accident. It was worth it to spend time with the DGC and my French visitor had prepared a scrumptious meal for us on our late return.
Happy anniversary Mr&Mrs Topsy
Thinking of all those struggling with challenges.

Greyduster Fri 15-Jul-22 08:48:11

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cloudy, breezy, cool South Yorkshire. I felt a bit stranded yesterday as my car was in for service and they had it all day. I don’t feel inclined to use the bus at the moment. Had a long chat with my best friend and also with my son, who cheered me up no end. He has promised me he will start playing his saxaphone again. I think playing music is good for you. He says the family won’t thank me for suggesting it! I have to go to the local M&S this afternoon to pick up some trousers I ordered, but it will be a quick in and out.
Corner your photos are lovely. Love Lyme Regis.
Have the best day you can folks.

Blossoming Fri 15-Jul-22 09:10:05

Good morning Mick and all. It’s cooler and cloudy in my corner of Lancashire. The air feels damp. Currently 16°C.

A day of housework and catching up today.

flowers to all going through difficult times.

EkwaNimitee Fri 15-Jul-22 09:10:12

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, rainy Carlisle.
I hope you enjoy your catch up with the Tour, Mick. What a great stage it was, I won't mention the results!
I woke up to the news headlines which put me in a gloom. One of them was about the rail unions strikes set for 2 days in August. One of them coincides with one of my travelling days to pick up my cruise so I am going to have to work up a plan B. I don't want to cancel plan A in case they settle the claim. I've been looking forward to my holidays after 2 years of none, I've already had to cancel one for health reasons so I'm definitely not a happy bunny now with the prospects of another being messed up. Nil desperandum is my motto though so I shall carry on and re-organise.
I'll also take advantage of a rainy day in and finish off my boring admin and, after over a year in my new home, it's time to take a look at my cupboards and have a possible re-sort and clear out. I've still got too much stuff. I'll also be giving my sister a call, we like to set the world to rights every week.

Have the best possible day all of you.
