Good morning from a cooler Northumberland.
Today we plan to visit Holy island, it is accessible by a causeway from 8.15 am but will need to leave by 2pm.
Yesterday half the family went out walking at St Abb's head the rest of us had a restful day. I read my book and had an afternoon nap.
We had a heavy shower, first real rain in ages. Apparently rained at home too so don't need to worry about my patio plants.

Have a wonderful time at your concert Granmadinosaur hope for pics tomorrow.
Ginny happy birthday ?

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks bright through the window. I will watch my two V&A lectures on the Edwardians this morning. That will take me up to lunchtime. I didn’t get much done yesterday as I was still feeling exhausted from my Vienna trip and late return home. OH cooked dinner and I didn’t go out to my friend’s. So I hope to perk up today, the forecast is for no more than 24 degrees, so I can cope with that. I ordered my monthly prescription last weekend so they should have read my email on Monday, I usually get a text telling me it’s ready for collection after 2/3 days. For the last couple of months it’s been 6 days. I run out of one of my tablets over the weekend so hope I hear today. I too have been described as having a complex medical history. Unnerving?

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. Enjoying these couple of cooler days. Then we are heading to the furnace that is London on Sunday.

Nannytopsy enjoy your wedding anniversary today. ?
Urms Matt certainly has a lot of topics at the moment.

Yesterday we went to a designer outlet near York and I bought some sandals in a silvery colour which I’m wearing in round the house and a bag in all sorts off bronze and beige colours. DH persuaded me to buy the bag.
We got the park and ride bus into York a route which I often rode with my Grandmother when I was young. It brought back many memories. She was Estonian and I vividly remember her calling me from the top deck and how it was mortifying at the time to a young teen. I realised how much I missed that voice.

Today I’m heading to the gym and we have DGS from school.

Enjoy all your activities today. Hoping those with stress and illness worries have some respite today. ??

ginny Fri 15-Jul-22 07:36:06

Good morning everyone. A bright start here in N. Bucks.
We had an easy journey home yesterday after a lovely holiday. Today will be a sorting out and planning day.
It is St. Swithins day and also my birthday. I think I have only had a handful of birthdays without rain but today may be another.
Out for a meal with all the family this evening. Looking forward to some cuddles with the little ones too.

Wishing all a good day especially those with worries or illness.

Happy Anniversary MrandMrsTopsy ??

Grandmabatty Fri 15-Jul-22 07:34:35

Good morning all from a soggy Polmont where it's currently 13° and damp. Lots more rain on the way I think. It's very still outside which makes a change from the constant wind we've been having. Nannytopsy happy anniversary to you both. NanKate enjoy your trip to the New Forest.
Yesterday I got three layers of undercoat on my front door. I pottered about between coats. I have realised that my eyesight isn't great for decorating anymore.
Today I have a chiropodist appointment so I'll clean the windows before I go,then put a top coat on the door when I get back. Have a good day all.

Marydoll Fri 15-Jul-22 07:27:29

Good morning all from a cloudy and damp Glasgow.
To those suffering from the heat, you are welcome to our rain, we have plenty!

GM, it sounds as if you have a very supportive group of friends.

Yesterday, I persuaded DH to take me to LIDL, I knew I couldn't manage on my own. Because I haven't ventured out much, my baking cupboard was bare. I have even used up the stash from the nuclear bunker, as the lodgers call it.
While we were there, my phone alerted me that someone was at our front door.
Being Amazon prime day, the lodgers had ordered lots of goods for their new home, but hadn't given a thought about who would take delivery. Well they had obviously bargained on me not going out. wink.
I phoned my friend across the road, to ask her to check for parcels. However, there were none, so I started to worry about where the parcels had been put.

Once we arrived home, DH checked the video, only to find the mysterious stranger at the door was me.
I am in a sorry state, I do not recognise myself anymore! ?
DD has been messing about updating our Alexas and Sonos system, but everything has gone pear shaped! There has been a delay in the doorbell alerts as a result.

Each time I opened my phone, the conservatory Alexa started playing random songs from my Spotify list, but DD didn't know what she had done. It was driving SIL, who was working in the dining room, mad!
When Dollie (an Alex expert) asked her, to switch on the TV, DD and SIL, got a shock , when their bedroom TV came on unprompted, as they were lying in bed.
I am living in a mad house at the moment!?
Only two weeks until they get their keys! I can't wait, but SIL is reluctant to leave this 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ hotel!

I hope all the poorly people, especially the DDs are coping in the heat. They must be so uncomfortable.
Kitty and Chrissielou, so painful to watch your daughters struggling.
Kalu, I hope the appointments went well yesterday.

I had a phone appointment with a nurse yesterday, about my endoscopy, they were completely unaware of my complex medical history and it has left me quite unsettled.
Today, I will speak with the cardiologist about the new drug trial.
I was unsettled anyway, because my friend across the road, was told yesterday, the tumour he had removed from his bowel, was cancerous. He had absolutely no symptoms at all. A timely reminder for us all, to do that bowel screening test!

Wishing you all, the best day possible. I may make gooseberry jam in my jam maker, if the nausea subsides. As opposed to GM's Carpe diem, my mantra has become, Carpe horam, wink

Just reading through the thread and the advert is for "Stranger Things". Are they trying to tell us something?

kittylester Fri 15-Jul-22 07:22:14

Good morning all from a warm and sunny North Leicestershire.

If she is up to it we are taking a picnic to DD1's house. She had her 2nd chemo on Tuesday and has, thus far, avoided going back to hospital this time.

Love and support to all who need it.

Pittcity Fri 15-Jul-22 07:21:32

Good morning from sunny Colchester. The carpet fitter will be back again soon. They got upstairs finished yesterday but when they took up the lounge carpet there were a couple of trenches in the concrete that needed filling and allowing to dry overnight. I have to pop to the bank for some cash to give them for the extra work and then get the house back into order. This evening will be spent collapsed in a sweaty heap.
Love to all ? x

Georgesgran Fri 15-Jul-22 07:20:20

Hours!! I spent hours watering the garden!

Georgesgran Fri 15-Jul-22 07:19:40

Lost my post!’
Good morning from Durham, where it’s raining. Sods law as I spent I was watering the garden last night and broke my fancy new hose pipe beyond repair. Day 12 of my cold, so I’m well and truly sick of it now.
Will have to spend time sorting out a problem with Next - they appear to have charged me twice for the same article.
Will come back and read later, but meanwhile I wish everyone a peaceful day. X

NanKate Fri 15-Jul-22 07:16:32

Good morning Mick and All. Hope you enjoyed Tina, I would love to see that show.

Almost packed and ready to drive down to the wonderful New Forest for a week. The cottage will be waiting with it’s pretty small garden where we will eat our breakfast each day.

Jaxjacky Fri 15-Jul-22 07:11:47

Happy Anniversary Mr&Mrstopsy ???

Grandmadinosaur Fri 15-Jul-22 07:10:36

Good morning all from sunny Eindhoven.

We arrived at our hotel here last night around 9pm after expecting gone here around lunchtime. Not a good start and this morning I feel shattered. Not good for the long day ahead. We have a few hours here to ourselves then are picked up at 1 for the journey to Maastricht. Again time there prior to the Andre Rieu concert tonight. It will be the early hours before we are back.
Our hotel is nice and just had time to get food last night. We had a nice meal at a local Italian and then bed. I enclose a photo of the view from our window.

Will catch up with threads now.

Take care everyone

Good morning all and I’m back from ds2’s after staying a couple of days. Gd4 was brilliant as Matilda in her school play. Confident, no nerves and a little star. Eldest Gd andI travelled by train which was easy and straight forward in lovely new trains and also on the newElizabeth line. When it works, it works so well! ?.

Today I’m meeting a friend for coffee and then will chill out this afternoon.

GG I’m glad your cruise went well, - I know you weren’t mad about going but let us know the ‘Fors and againsts’ .
We too have a couple of months of birthdays ?. Mine (same day as yours) included. We have 3 this next coming week.

Lovely pics cornergran - lovely Lyme Regis .

Chrissielou - a long road for your Dd but all in a good cause!
Love to you both. ♥️.

Hoping you all have a good day. Take care.?

Nannytopsy Fri 15-Jul-22 07:06:49

Morning all!
Yes Urms today is St Swithin’s Day and our 44th wedding anniversary. If it rains today, it will rain for 40 days after. We could do with 40 days of rain but it looks dry.
We are going to the local auction this morning for a few plants and then a potter round the shops. A table is booked at a local restaurant this evening.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

grandMattie Fri 15-Jul-22 07:05:30

Yes, Urms. 40 days of the same weather to follow- in this case: searing heat. Please, please No!

Urmstongran Fri 15-Jul-22 06:56:59

Lovely photos cornergran I’ve not been too Lyme Regis. It looks very pretty.

? to you GG13 back on terra firma. Enjoy all the July birthdays and celebrations!

Beechnut Fri 15-Jul-22 06:52:01

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Sunny skies and a fresh breeze coming through the windows.

I must get on and apply for my bus pass Pant. I became old enough for one two years ago but didn’t bother because of covid etc.

Off to do the weekly shop. I’m going to have a go at making lavender ice cream ? I’ll get some vanilla for back up in case it doesn’t turn out ok.

Take care everyone and have the best day you can ??

Urmstongran Fri 15-Jul-22 06:51:12

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the sky is white cloud and it’s cool enough but the sun is up over the Pennines and I think the forecast is for temperatures in the mid 20’s today. Our little car sits awaiting TLC. The mechanic didn’t get here yesterday. I hope he’s able to today.

Consequently we cannot pick my stepfather up for his routine eye check here in Urmston but he said he’s happy to get the bus. I did offer to send a taxi but he prefers not. I will meet him at the opticians then he said would the 3 of us like lunch at his favourite Italian place? Ah, go on.

After that we’re meeting friends for a couple of drinks at a bar up the road, where we will all sit outside. Stepfather will be at his bowls club this evening as he meets his friend every Friday evening for a couple of pints in the club lounge. Honestly he has a better social life than many I know, which is wonderful especially at his advanced age.

Enjoy Friday all who can. Didn’t annsixty mention it’s St. Swithin’s Day today? I’m sure there’s some folklore about it regarding the weather.

MawtheMerrier Fri 15-Jul-22 06:50:49

Good morning all. I hope you enjoyed “Tina” Mick and that the theatre aid coach air-con made it comfortable.
I am home again after an amazingly easy drive yesterday, for once the M25 and M1 had very few lorries and no hold-ups and I was in the Waitrose carpark for a quick shopping top-up in 1hr15. It was about 10C cooler than London too.
Rosie was happy to see me but had destroyed her walking harness while at the kennels. (Last Autumn she chewed up her winter coat which someone had foolishly left within reach.) Pickle! Not the end of the world, it was never a great fit anyway and presumably she was bored!
The window cleaner has now texted to say he is coming this morning so I had better be up and decent before he gets here (and shut the windows!). Busy, busy -not!
With kind thoughts to all with worries, health issues or just feeling the heat, and wishing you all a pleasant day. ?
