Do you talk to inanimate objects?

I seem to do it all the time .
‘Oh so you think you’re funny do you’ to a hairbrush that keeps ‘hiding ‘ from me .
‘I hope you’re going to behave yourself today , I really can’t be late ‘
to my sometimes temperamental car .
And just now , ‘ yes thank you I know you’ve finished , can’t you just wait ‘ to my washing machine , that plays an annoying little tune when it’s finished!

Sat-nav
Ro60 I don't talk to her, I shout at her. She is stupid!

All the time...my son once pointed out to me I don't need to thank ATMs.

Yes, my husband!

I will only worry when my inanimate objects start to answer back!

Well if there is no one around why not, I thank Alexa when I set the alarm, nice to get a welcome message back. I think I do this automatically at times. I come away with "What,s that doing there when I have put it there".

All the time.. In fact if I can find anything in the house, I look up to the heavens and ask my Grandmother. Always turns up... Magic!

It's so reassuring to realise others are as bonkers as me!

A slight deviation: I had noticed how many people talk out loud to themselves while searching the shelves - then heard myself doing the same thing. "Now where on earth have they put the...!"

I chide inanimate objects too. But what bugs me most are the bossy ladies at supermarket self checkouts. They are so impatient!

Sorry, wrong link. This is the one I meant.

I don't do it, I don't think. I will talk to myself a lot though and instead of saying "I thought I switched you off" I will tell myself "I thought I switched that off"

Teacheranne

I talk to my plants a lot, especially those not doing so well. They get a warning that if they don’t improve, I’ll get rid of them! My aloe Vera is on a last warning!

Oh how could you? Your sickly plants need some tender loving words, not a threat. They are more likely to die if you abuse them. I have a sickly grape ivy which somehow got powdery mildew. I have cut the dead bits off, sprayed it with neem oil and spoken lovingly to the buds. I'm happy to say it is recovering. I don't normally talk to anything, but I love little buds and baby plants dearly.

Me too Sharon123 - The ones that get the most tongue lashing are the ones that talk to you:
Sat-nav, alexa and the *@$¥ self checkout - "yes, it's a * bag in the bagging area.

Lots of chatting in this house all the time! I talk to everything. Sometimes it's almost intelligent.

"Oh do be quiet" when anything beeps and so many machines beep these days.

I do talk to Teddy on DGD's bed but I wouldn't say he's inanimate. He's a friend.

I talk to my car a lot and today I found myself stroking a flower telling it how beautiful it is?‍♀️

M0nica Sat 16-Jul-22 19:29:16

yes

grannydarkhair Sat 16-Jul-22 19:22:55

All the time, and FFS is one of my most used phrases when alone.

BlueBelle Sat 16-Jul-22 19:15:44

I talk to things to encourage them or give them a tongue lashing if they go wrong I apologise to things if I bump into them I talk to my plants and flowers and tell them how clever they are
