Do you talk to inanimate objects?

sachamac I would definitely recommend one they're great company . Callistemon I think we take this madness to the next level, giving things names. But we're not alone - someone up-thread has named her two robot mowers Romeo and Juliet, I seem to remember!

I’ve recently started talking to my washing machine !! Mostly pleading with it to give me my washing back at the end of the cycle, or to please, please spin instead of giving me back sopping wet clothes. You’ve probably guessed that it’s elderly (a bit like myself) and on it’s last legs - I’m coaxing it to it’s demise so that the insurance policy will contribute to a new machine when it finally gives up the ghost !! Not an inanimate object, but I do tend to talk to my dog as though he’s a person, and over the three years we’ve had him, he recognises words and phrases I wouldn’t have dreamed of !!

I talk to my Henry vacuum cleaner and the Henry at my work. It is his happy smiley face that cheers me up. Don't talk to an ordinary vacuum cleaner.

We have a new to us car. A hybrid automatic. It does too much and takes too much responsibility upon itself. It did it the other day in a car park, and when I got back into the car this passing woman gave me a very peculiar look as I sat telling the car that I was the boss and it should move off when I say so. I don't mind a bit of advice when a wall is looming up close from behind but I don't appreciate all the hysterical beeping when I'm still miles away.

I wondered if (some) people had perhaps taken me literally!

Yesterday he moaned about the amount of work he had to do, I just told him to suck it up.

My taps talk to me .
Yesterday they moaned about the water temperature. I just told them to go with the flow.

My fridge talks to me.
Yesterday he was getting stressed. I just told him to chill.

My pedal bin talks to me.
Yesterday he was moaning that I had left the lid open. I just told him to shut it.

My TV talks to me.
Yesterday he said he was having trouble focusing. I told him I got the picture.

I talk to my new Bosch cordless vacuum cleaner - "Well done, Mr B" or "time for a recharge - are you exhausted?" I talk to my ancient desktop computer with words ranging from the sarcastic "take your time I've got all day" to more robust expressions of frustration that I can't repeat on here. Also speak to my two teddies that sit on a chair on the landing. "Morning, boys... ooh your hats are all skew whiff - have you two been larking about in the night?" In other respects I think I'm quite normal... though others might disagree.

Mine was called Bob but I think he's died as he beeps once or twice then goes back home again, even though I speak to him nicely.

I found myself talking to the doorstop the other day. He's very sweet, always listens and he's called Ollie.

I say goodbye when I leave a hotel room or cottage and tell it that we’ve enjoyed staying in you ?

I frequently talk to the tv when I am alone, especially when political debates are on and l think the politicians are being frugal with the truth!

I often tell the radio to eff off! - but only when there’s one of the many profoundly irritating ads. (Classic FM). I usually hit the off button too - and then forget to switch on again for quite a while.

I have been known to talk to whatever I’m looking for - ‘Come on, where the hell ARE you?’ etc.

I was going to reply "No, never!", as I have a phobia of talking on phones etc. But then I remembered that I always saying say goodbye to the places where we go on holiday each year and say "See you next year, hopefully!"

My mother admitted she also talked to my deceased dad, especially when doing household chores. Like she'd be dusting the dresser and would say, "Oh xxxx, you'd have had this done in half the time, even with just one eye!"
I was happy she did that.

Yes, I talk to things, too, and I'm so glad it seems to be a much done thing and not just one of my 'little madnesses'!

all the time, especially at the self checkouts in waitrose, I'm often slow finding my card etc & it asks me to do the next thing I say 'just a minute will you!' & so on till I've finished!

I talk to the self checkout machines too, mostly when they are being stupid like asking me to put the item in the bag when I just have! I’ve learned a few tricks though, like throwing light things in so that they make a slight thud and can’t be missed.

I talk to birds leaves trees plants weather stars rainbows lakes ocean sand stones & very occasionally to humans !

Not quite the same BUT a few years ago I got home from work . Parked the car and bent down behind the hedge and said to my cat “hello sweetheart, how are you, what you Bin doin all day!” Have you bin a good girl.? (Gobbledegooktalk)

I stood up and looking over the hedge at me were two neighbours. I could have died. ? but I was so embarrassed.

I never did learn my lesson, I still do it.

I tell myself off when I do stupid things, which is quite often. I would be cross if anyone else spoke to me the way I do!

I frequently curse at my Roomba vacuum when it 'eats' things it's not supposed to do
