I use my car windscreen frost cover on the door between my home office and the conservatory. Silver on the outside so acts as a good reflector. The sun moves from east to west so the room is cooler in the afternoon. Currently 34 in the conservatory and 28 in my office. That and a desk fan is helping. Before bed I have a lukewarm bath which helps me sleep. Bedroom windows shut during the day and curtains closed. We have a chalet bungalow do upstairs can get quite hot!
Those covers are what I am using on some of my doors/windows at the moment, Babs758.
DS got a couple for me earlier this week, specifically for this job, and they have made a huge difference when hung on the outside of the windows.
I'm tempted to buy a few more and do some cutting and joining to make them fit the windows even better, and to add carefully-positioned straps so it's easier to get them / keep them in the right position.
