Loaded luggage in the car, got in and drove off for 2 weeks' holiday leaving the house door wide open.
Thankfully, our neighbour spotted the error and locked up for us!

Rubbed. The trauma still gets to me.

My OH once reversed the car into the garage with the door open - the car passenger door!!

He never lived it down; and whenever I did something silly and he was having a grumble, I could say ....."Remember that time......"

it was day 1 back at work after a two week long holiday abroad with two small nephews. I was talking to a female colleague who had a speck of dirt on her face, and I without thinking got out my hanky, licked it, and ribbed the smudge off. We were both horrified! I mean, I could at least have asked her to lick my hanky....?

I carefully put everything we needed for the day on the bottom stair next to the front door, put G'children in the car, shut the front door.
Luckily I had the car key in my hand so we were able to drive to the DD's workplace and collect the spare house key from her. blush

I put my purse, that Day’s Guardian and my house keys on the roof if my car as I was putting in a carry cot, a baby, a dog and a bag full of essential items for a day out.
Arrived at the meeting point to find my purse, newspaper and house keys missing. This was 1972 - my income was based on £x a week, with about £4.00 a month left to save to holidays/spend on wine.
If I did that today, I doubt I’d be able to remember putting the items on the roof.

My most careless error ever was to leave my car parked opposite our house without the handbrake on.
The drive was full of builders vehicles.
It slowly rolled toward the house then gathered momentum and crashed into a stone wall that we were having built.
My husband realised what was happening and ran out.
“You remembered to lock the *** doors” he screamed as he stood and watched the moment of impact.

I had 3 builders and a furious husband staring at me with looks of absolute disbelief.

What’s your most careless act?
