Having a 'tribe' is so important. Companionship helps with maintaining good health, both mental and physical.
I fear that our online lives, although pleasant, can't compensate for real life people.
I don't like driving (although I am able to) and often get into a conversation with people about my age at the bus stop. I nearly always find they are pleased to talk, and it might be the only conversation they have that day, apart from with sales assistants.

I know precisely what you mean about talking to people I am always striking up conversation, having a laugh with people, as you say that one moment of 1 to 1 conversation might be the only tine in the day they have spoken to anyone.

I love, love charity shops because you have a real good chinwag, proper 1 to 1 conversation, you don't get that in what I call 'normal' shops hahaha.

Yes, online chat is great, I am not knocking it at all, but nothing beats that face to face chinwag ....

My 'aid' ALWAYS instigates a laugh. I have MS and amongst other pieces of equipment, i have a pushchair that I use as a 'walker'.....

So, picture the scene , there I am breezing about with my pushchair, MINUS THE BABY hahahaha, I have my stick tucked down the side of the pushchair but all ppl can see is an EMPTY PUSHCHAIR.... hahaha. So the number of times people have passed me with comments of I think you're missing something! is far, far too many to remember BUT its brilliant because it instigates a laugh, a conversation, let me point out that the reason behind the empty pushchair is for my mobility and NOT to get chatting to folk hahaha but I am just making a point of how absolute uplifting it is to stop and chat to a complete stranger and both of us stand laughing.

FANNNNNNNTASTIC ....

I'm going to rent too DerbyshireLass. I like the feeling of freedom it brings and it will break my feeling of being, as you say, 'stuck'. Having a tribe didn't used to feel important to me until I moved to a place where I couldn't find one.

Agree completely about more amenities and opportunities for getting out and about. Good transport links are high on my priority list. Those Escape to the Country shows give me the willies now.

Well done you (us?) for being brave enough to move on from something that's not working for us.

Life is definitely for living!!

I will add to to my thred, my motto.

LIFE IS FOR LIVING ? ?

Richmond.

I need to find my tribe too,. The house sale is (hopefully) going through. Although you can never be certain. I have no idea of where I go from here. I think I might rent for a while. Try before I buy.

It's coming up to 8 years since my husbands death and I feel stuck. I need a new life but not here. Maybe a bit closer to the city, more amenities and opportunities for getting out and about.

I think covid hasn't helped.

We are in a similar boat DerbyshireLass. My new home is lovely too but I just don't feel like I 'belong' in the area. People are all very pleasant but I haven't felt anyone who is 'my tribe'.

I think I'd have realised this earlier if it wasn't for the covid lockdown.

Your next step sounds exciting...do please tell more as it all unfolds.

Same here ExDancer I couldn't believe how much my life had changed for the better.

It wasn't until after I was recovering from my hysterectomy that I realised just how ill I'd been feeling.

I feel as though I want more adventure in my life. I have lost that zest I used to have and I want it back.

I moved to the country thinking I'd had enough of the city. After a few years I realise I just needed a break and am now heading back to the excitement, energy and variety of the city.

Happy to hear you have your va va voom back!

This.. I did something similar. I bought this house in 2018 and whist the house itself is fine, I realise that it's the wrong environment for me, it's a nice suburb and good postcode.

The problem is I'm a widow and all my neighbours are either couples or families. They are lovely and friendly enough but I do feel a bit like a fish out of water.

And I've definitely lost my mojo.

So I'm selling up and moving onto pastures new. No idea where yet.

Great thread serendipity.

I'm going to join in if I may and cherry pick some good ideas for how I can move forward and reignite my va va voom.

Lucky you Serendipity ! I know what you mean, it’s like after you’ve had flu and the return of your energy makes you feel you could move mountains (well…until you try)
I would say I have been zapped back to perhaps yesterweek - alas the energy levels of yesteryear are a bit of a memory!

Ohhhh i know precisely what you mean regarding the energy being from yesterweek hahahaha.....

In our mind, we can do A,B & C but our boy says Whoa, think again pal. Haha ( dont know what I'm laughing for )

To cheer us all up and rejoice in the remaining last drop of energy I shall pour us alllll a glass of ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? tonight..... (im sure we have the energy to lift glass to mouth !!! Hahaha )

Xx

Ok, this is going to start with the heatwave BUT the core meaning isn't aimed at it....

Right, so yes we all resembled melted zombies a few days ago, thats now gone ( thank goodness ?) and what I am thankful for is the return of my energy, which I have to add, doesn't amount to much these days, BUT ITS THERE and how very much do I revel in DELIGHT that I can now do A, B & C, I feel human, I feel like the old me has jumped back into a body that was withering slowly hurrrrrray...

Sooooo, putting ME to one side, what have YOU experienced that you thought was in the archives of yesteryear ?

We have allllllllll got something because we are allllllll totting up the years.....

Big hugs to everyone ?
