Haven’t seen one sitting on a toilet pan advertising a Tena pad have you? ???

Luckygirl3 Sun 24-Jul-22 22:27:36

Does that fact mean they rule the roost?

Poppyred Sun 24-Jul-22 22:30:36

I think it’s demeaning …..

They do feature in ads for erectile dysfunction, constipation, and so on, so I suppose they are represented on the 'grim bodily functions' front; but I do think that a lot of adverts are still sexist, particularly when they feature older women.

One of my 'favourites' is the Sun Life one with the simpering June deferring to the chap who grows parsnips and considering getting an over 50s plan on his recommendation.

They are not as bad as they were when we used to get two women discussing the advantages of floor cleaner over coffee, and a male voiceover explaining why the advertised brand was best. They were called 2CK in the trade - 'Two Cs in a Kitchen'. I'll leave it to your imagination as to what the C stood for ?. I think things have moved on since then, but there is still a way to go.

Haven’t seen a man advertising a cure for constipation?

Not constipation, but not exactly ruling the roost either.

Wasn't sure whether to post this picture on this thread or under News and Politics.

Is Sun Life the one where the papers get delivered next door by mistake? I always feel I couldn't trust a company who can't even get my address right (although I suppose we're to infer blame to the postal service).

We have one where they advertise male underpants that reduce chafing. The bloke that is the model has a potato down there or maybe a watermelon. Either that or he is really freaky.

The woman chose to advertise a Tenna pad

I do think that seeing anyone sitting on a toilet is really unnecessary. It does happen in films etc. Just when you wonder how low can we go we manage to get a bit lower.

I can't remember which advertisement featured menstrual blood .
I saw it over the weekend .
The product didn't register with me because I thought yuk time to make a cup of tea .
I hope that it's removed .

There's just no secrets anymore - Tena lady for incontinence and Numan for erectile problems .

What is going to be illustrated next ?

The noise of chronic flatulence , constipation , diarrhoea and why not show flaccid penises ?

Well, people complained because the ads used to show blue dye on a pad, so now they are more realistic.

It's a long time since I saw a tv advert but I remember getting irritated that almost every advert had a close up of a woman's backside or crotch, usually whilst she was flying through the air on the end of a bungee cord and shouting "Now I have wings, I'm freeeee to be meeeeee!"

sodapop Mon 25-Jul-22 12:41:34

Don't think any of these advertising agencies have heard the term less is more.
It seems to be a necessity to spell everything out for the poor mentally challenged viewers.

kittylester Mon 25-Jul-22 20:19:27

Men don't rule the roost round her but nor do women.

AreWeThereYet Mon 25-Jul-22 20:34:44

I think most of the Tena account managers are women.

"If I wear a Tena Lady pad with wings, will I be able to bungee jump?"

"Yes, of course"

"Oh good, because I never managed to do it before" ?

I’m all for realistic advertising, no euphemisms, glossing over, but how it is, men and women.
