I want to take my grandsons (7+11) into Birmingham while the Games are on, how busy is the city centre

I think my grandsons will love the atmosphere around the city and to see what’s going on to attract kids into sport. I don’t know which will be best, to use the train on Wednesday or go by car? Any advice please?

I drove into Birmingham coming off the Northbound M6 this afternoon and it seemed pretty much the same as normal. There may be more of a buzz around Vicky Square but that’s what you)’re coming for I assume.
Enjoy!

It is a bit busier because of visitors to the Games but not over crowded. The Bull and the flags display is worth going to look at and there’s various entertainment/events going on. Personally I wouldn’t drive in because parking & traffic is always a pain.

We live very close to the Alexander Stadium where it's all going on. I haven't been to the city centre myself but my sister says the atmosphere in the city is great. They have the bull from the Opening Ceremony in Centenary Square (by the new library) I believe. I agree that parking is a pain. Come and see our lovely city.

I'm not sure how long the bull is going to be there but you could probably find out.

He's here!

The Bull is to stay in Centenary Square till the end of September, when he will be tucked into an indoor space for the Winter months.

Originally he was going to be dismantled, but has been reprieved after an outcry to keep him.

I've just read that Blinko. Great!

We all had a lovely time, wonderful atmosphere, lots of friendly souls and, well, The Bull! Isn't he amazing - so glad he's been saved!

Thanks!
