Morning

GrannySomerset Wed 03-Aug-22 08:22:23

After sorting out DH’s many clothes yesterday with the help of a good friend I have a lot to deliver to the charity shops so will make a start today. Nothing else on the radar but who knows?

Morning from a very windy bit of S Lanarkshire.

I missed yesterday’s posts as I was busy helping to get the children out to their drama camp, DD not feeling too good.
Now I have to go all the way back there because I have left my iPad and am not there again for two weeks. Apart from anything else I get my daily paper on it and Gransnet is a lot easier to read than on my phone!

Glad that your HR people were supportive baubles, they know they have a good member of staff.

I am assuming from what I read this morning that DDs were having treatment yesterday, I hope it went as well as possible.

Your theatre outing sounds very interesting Grammaretto! You are fortunate to have a direct link to Edinburgh, it is such a hassle from here now that so many trains have been taken off during lockdown and no sign of them being restored yet.

I enjoyed ‘lunch’ with a group of friends and ex colleagues yesterday. We met at one o’clock and someone eventually looked at her watch and said in slight dismay. ‘It’s six o’clock ladies, I need to go home’!!

Wishing everyone a good day ???

Good Morning NanKate and everyone from Hull. Great deputies opening up.

It’s Chinese St Valentine’s Day today so DS is making sure his wife has a lovely day with flowers and is cooking her favourite meal of steak for dinner tonight.
Youngest son has got his second speeding ticket in a few months so that will be 6 points on his licence. Naughty!! It was in exactly the same place on the M62 as last time. Does he never learn?
DD sent us her new website to look at last night for her antenatal business. It looks great. Really proud.

Not to much on today. I’m just going to have breakfast and later this morning will either go to the gym or do a yoga recording.
Have a good day everyone hoping those not well find some relief today.
Enjoy those delightful GC and safe travels for friends on the move. ??

Good morning all and we’re back in Essex. We arrived back at midday and I suddenly remembered my birthday cakes for bridge club. I had made them 3 weeks ago but bridge was cancelled because of the extreme heat so I put them all in the freezer. Quickly defrosted and iced them and off I went. They went down well.

Today I have smallest gd (6) and like your little one, Marydoll she will bring her scooter. We’ll walk /scoot up to town and pop into the library for the summer read session (she loves a book). We might have lunch somewhere but she isn’t a good eater so might come back for a ‘buffet’ lunch (bits and bobs)?.

Yesterday Dh had the result of a blood test which showed he hasn’t got Huntington’s disease. Thank goodness! ?. There is something not right but not sure what! He’s having a CAT scan the end of the month. He’s off fishing today, so he’ll enjoy that. Solitary soul that he is. ?

Hope all poorly grans will have a good day and those travelling will be stress free. ?

ginny Wed 03-Aug-22 08:00:33

Good morning from a dull but warm N. Bucks.
Yesterday, after much deliberation we finally booked a holiday for November. A cruise , taking in Morocco and some Atlantic islands. Looking forward to that.
Quiet day today with bits and bobs to do. This evening we have our annual WI garden party so hope it stays warm and dry.
Kind thoughts to all who are poorly or are worried about family or friends. Hope Wednesday is good to you all.

No Matt.

Good morning everyone from sunny Malaga! It’s a gorgeous morning so a lovely start to our six week stay. Manchester airport was fine so that was a nice surprise. T3 has no ‘Next’ outlet I was disappointed. Never mind it’s probably better to cull my clothes out here (boxes and bags of stuff crammed into every nook and cranny) before buying any more. I’m going to be ruthless at the end of the month just as I did at home.

I’m sat on the little balcony with a second cuppa looking across at the sparkling cobalt blue Mediterranean. It’s so nice to be back! Himself of course is already organising the place, opening cupboards checking supplies. I’m helpfully staying out of the way. “Too many cooks spoil the broth” as they say!
? we will be in the beautiful gardens later, chairs under a palm tree, Kindle in hand. Now, where did I put those swimming costumes ...

Thanks for the article Ashcombe It surpassed expectations.

Grandmabatty Wed 03-Aug-22 07:55:54

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 15° and damp. I'm not feeling too clever today so I hope everyone has a good day.

cornergran Wed 03-Aug-22 07:50:20

Morning All from an overcast corner of Somerset. Thanks to nankate and pantglas for opening up.

Grey day here yesterday, fine rain on and off kept us all indoors, well indoors in a large shop and a garden centre smile. It was a sticky day, very pleased to manage an hour outside late afternoon. Sun forecast later, no one will be in a rush to go out, it seems we never run out of things to chat about.

Pleased you are content with yesterdays appointment marydoll, you too ash. Goodness what a trip maw.

Safe travels to all on the move today, thinking of everyone facing life’s challenges. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all

Pittcity Wed 03-Aug-22 07:48:13

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. No rain in the forecast and 27° is today's high.
Usual Wednesday coffee meetup in the City centre. We have been a small group now that the Summer holidays are here.
Love to all ?x

Marydoll Wed 03-Aug-22 07:42:26

I forgot to wish Urms a safe journey and happy holiday! ✈???

Marydoll Wed 03-Aug-22 07:38:47

Good morning all from a cloudy and breezy Glasgow, where its currently 13°C.
Just like the old days Kate, with you opening up! Enjoy your day with your boys!
Maw, that was a horrendous journey!

I'm tired after my day at the hospital yesterday, but not tired enough not to have Dollie for the day. ? She is the best medicine, I could wish for.
Her mummy has to work for a few hours today, so we thought we might drive down to Greenock, where Dollie can scoot, scoot to her hearts content on the esplanade. while I sit and supervise, watching papa, who will be in charge! ??????

DH was shocked yesterday, when I said I didn't want to trail around Braehead shopping mall. However, I did force myself to grab a few sale bargains in M&S, which just happens to be next to the bus stop for the hospital.?
I was quite relieved, when treatment for my hip problem was put on the back burner, after my clinician agreed that there was too much going on at the moment. Time to prioritise.

To my dismay, when I tried to phone my GP surgery to update my GP on Monday's rheumatology phone calls, for the third time in a fortnight, I got the Emergencies only, phone 111 recorded message.
How can a surgery of six GPS , three practice nurses and umpteen health workers, not be accepting calls?
I decided to stay on the line and much to my relief, got a very helpful and sympathetic receptionist.

We had a surprise visit from DS2 last night. He is like DH, never mentions my health issues, but quietly worries and keeps it all inside. I think he just needed to check I was alive OK. It was so lovely to see him.
He was proud to tell us that DIL has just been made project manager for the refurbishment of another cultural site in Glasgow, now that the Burrell refurbishment is complete. This is her dream job. How many people can say that?

Hoping that the DDs didn't have too difficult a day yesterday and that your appointment went well, Ash.
I'm off to get ready, a wee girl will be champing at the bit, forward plan in hand and standing at the window, awaiting her third favourite people. The pecking order comprises, Mummy and dad, her best friend S, then her gran &papa. We know our place! ?

Have a good day all and a special thanks to all, who sent good wishes yesterday. It means a lot to me.

kittylester Wed 03-Aug-22 07:33:15

Good morning all from an already warm and bright North Leicestershire. Thank you for opening up Kate.

Our youngest is 35 today (!!!) so will drive over Charnwood Forest to deliver her presents and, coincidentally, see the children.

This afternoon - tea and cake with a good friend.

Jaxjacky Wed 03-Aug-22 07:32:28

Morning all from overcast, dry as dry Hampshire.
Thanks NanKate for opening and Pantglas yesterday.
I have a drive today and will soak the veg patch and greenhouse.
Wishing those under the weather a better day and all having treatments yesterday or ongoing are not too uncomfortable.
??

monk08 Wed 03-Aug-22 07:32:16

Good morning all from the Black country, sun just making its entrance.
Thanks for opening up NanKate do hope Mick is enjoying his break.
Well we made it to see the bull yesterday, a marvellous piece of work. It would be nice if they could find a permanent home for it leaving a lasting legacy of the games, but there is talk that it will be dismantled.
Nothing planned for today, DS popping round to borrow some tools, he's doing some work for his MiL , so we may see the boys if they're with him.
Hope Urms arrived safe without any delays. Safe journey for those on the move, best wishes to those celebrating and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Wednesday and may you all find some ?.

Beechnut Wed 03-Aug-22 07:24:59

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Grey skies and wet ground. It’s only fine rain though by the look of it on the windows.

I’ll do some card making and make a start on a craft project today and possibly potter in the shed. My brother said he’d call in on his way home from work this evening.

I hope you all have a good day ??

Grammaretto: I was intrigued by the sound of Hamlet as a ballet so enjoyed reading this account of it:-

Good morning from a grey and overcast Black Country, albeit still warm. Thanks for opening up NanKate

Had a lovely few hours in the park yesterday with a friend, coffee and cake outside the cafe, as it was her birthday Monday.

Then onto Mums and lunch out in the village pub where DD lives. They didn't arrive home from Portugal until almost Midnight Monday, so we popped in for an hour.

Spoke to Mums Doctor on phone yesterday as I am concerned about her. She has made an appointment for a memory clinic in 2 weeks.

Gym first thing, then make a start on packing for our 11 days away in the caravan.

Wishing you all a pleasant day

dragonfly46 Wed 03-Aug-22 07:17:02

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Coffee with friends this morning and DH has physio this afternoon. Also getting ready for our trip to Brighton tomorrow. It is Gay Pride this weekend which is quite an event down there!
Quick turnaround when we get back as we are off to Holland next Thursday.

Hoping everyone has the best day possible.

Ashcombe Wed 03-Aug-22 07:13:55

Good morning from a dull Torbay where we’re having some light rain. Thank you, NanKate, for starting us off.

My appointment at the hospital went well with all the various pre op tests being completed. The consultant surgeon from Plymouth was charming and reassured me about the operation although no date is confirmed but it could be before Christmas.

Dress Rehearsal tonight!

Happy hump day! ?????

Grammaretto Wed 03-Aug-22 07:11:52

Good morning all from me Scottish Borders. I hope Mick is enjoying his break.
Bright and windy here.
I did a reccie yesterday to the Great Polish map of Scotland. I'm taking DMiL there today and wanted to find disabled access.
Wish me luck !
Last night I was lucky enough to see Hamlet, a ballet, with Ian McKellen at the Edinburgh Fringe.

baubles Wed 03-Aug-22 07:03:09

Thanks Kate. Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

I had a video call yesterday with my area manager and a couple of HR people. They were very supportive and stressed that they really aren’t happy for me to return to work for another few weeks given how physically demanding the job is. I’ll have forgotten everything by the time I do get back! I must admit to getting a little frustrated because I’m not yet back to full strength.

Anyhoo, others have far more to contend with.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 03-Aug-22 07:01:55

Good morning all from sunny East Yorkshire. Thank you NanKate for opening up. Hope Mick is enjoying his holiday.

I had a good day yesterday. Only 2 of us at coffee but she was celebrating as had received her first state pension so we had cake! Then I had a good catch up with my hairdresser getting my roots done. Finally the visit to the lodge. Don’t think it’s the one for us. The actual lodge was fine but nothing around it for quite a distance. No bus service close by if it was required and also no facilities on site. It’s looking like the one we are seeing on Friday is a better option.

No plans for today but I will find plenty to do I’m sure!

Thoughts to all with health issues and DDs not feeling too well at the moment ?

Take care everyone.

BlueBalou Wed 03-Aug-22 06:58:22

Good morning everyone, still no rain in this corner of Somerset.
Another full day of watercolour painting, it’s actually really hard work concentrating for long periods of time. Comments like ‘Painting is so relaxing’ are being met by gales of slightly hysterical laughter!
Having a lovely time, the grounds of the big house are beautiful.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 03-Aug-22 06:57:28

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I must get up soon as the decorators will be arriving at 8 am. OH has calmed down a bit now and likes the paint after all! I have a tea party this afternoon at the house where I volunteer. It is a thank you for our hard work. The decorators are starting in the hall and landing today and I fully expect OH not to like the paint when it first goes on the wall!
