Which Deodorant is best, I use Sure invisible aqua for anti-white marks and yellow stains but still find yellowing happening. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

I think the yellowing can occur, when garments are warn more than once ie twice, with a second lot of deodorant getting onto the fabric. I had this with my husbands shirts he may go into work for just 3 or 4 hours then wear the shirt again. Ever since he stopped wearing more than once the yellowing has stopped

So it’s just you and me then Forlorn hope.
Glad not to be alone in this, welcome!
is it habit or fear that keep people buying this.

Years ago I read that an Oncologist did not want his Wife and Daughters to use deodorants that contain Parabens and or Aluminium as they were carcinogenic. He said that underarms are too near the breast area and the deodorant could penetrate the skin. I agree that we don’t really need deodorant but if we do, make sure you buy one that is Paraben and Aluminium Free.

Have never used deodorant or antiperspirant. I don’t perspire much anyway and it is wrong to stop it

I don't use a roll-on, prefer a solid stick type. Dove, Sure, are the more easily available ones. The stick ones do seem to be harder and harder to find these days. Have you noticed tge adverts for 72 hour deodirant? Latest one I saw showed a female exercising for hours, her saving grace being the 72 hour product. I would say there are very few people who use a gym who don't shower soon after. Today it's a must for everyone to have a shower everyday isn't it. Won't the 72 hour product be washed off well before the 3 days protection wore off. Another marketing ploy to get our money.

I have not used commercial deodorants for many years since I read about the aluminium in them being linked to breast cancer. I use natural Thai stones from health shops and spas.

As far as effectiveness is concerned another vote for Mitchum.
I used to work at a care home for young adults a while ago where there was a young woman who used to perspire profusely underarms within a few hours of showering and spraying, the smell was over bearing no matter what deodorant she used until we discovered Mitchum... it really works.

Please use a deoderant, washing-powder and soap that does not contain perfume.

Doing so is better for your health, and an enormous help to all of us who cannot be near a person wearing certain perfumes because we are allergic to them.

If you wash daily, which I am sure you all do, you do not need perfume - there is n othing wrong with smelling human, as long as we smell of clean human being, not dirty ones.

I couldn't agree more -I've tried them all and nothing beats Mitchum. It is more expensive so I buy multiple when on offer
My favourites are Shower Fresh & Powder Fresh.
I'ts on an amazing offer at the moment at Lloyds for £1 down from £2.59

Lots of deodorants Anti perspirants have aluminium in be careful & read ingredients
I use a crystal deodorant It’s great

Mitchum, fragrance-free. I can't understand why anyone wears a scented deodorant which might conflict with another fragrance they usually wear.

Best value is Boots own aerosols, they do an unfragranced and one with a light floral fragrance. Last time I looked cost £1 per can. But nothing stops me sweating, not even the heavy duty ones so I'd rather just use a cheapo. Can't bear those soapy smells like Dove!

I’m another who gave up using deodorants after menopause. They’re not necessary any more.

When I lived in France people used cologne all over the body and underarms and I still do that to this day. It feels so nice and refreshing on the skin and sets me up for the day.

No blocked pores, no stains on clothes or unpleasant chemical perfumes.. and if a little bit of natural smell comes out later in the day is that so bad? It's a natural smell!
I don't perspire much so it works for me.

Eau Dynamisante by Clarins is lovely but expensive and I only use it occasionally. I actually get inexpensive cologne 'Bien Etre Eau Fraiche' in 500ml bottles from a French online UK website. In the past 4711 Cologne was very popular.

I haven't used deodorant since I was 20 and I haven't noticed anyone distancing themselves from me...lol!

My DD introduced me to Wild deodorant. I’ve not looked back. Not strongly scented and I haven’t had any problem with breakthrough B.O. she gave me a referral code so I got my first order half price (I purchased online but I’m sure Boots started stocking it).

JdotJ Fri 05-Aug-22 11:27:20

Bionsen - no aluminium used

Baggs Fri 05-Aug-22 11:26:49

Correction to my previous post: it's Nivea unperfumed stick I use, not Dove.

Yammy Fri 05-Aug-22 11:25:40

Mitchum Shower fresh I even used to send it to a DD who lived abroad and couldn't get it.

Moggycuddler Fri 05-Aug-22 11:25:34

I am a bit sensitive but I do sweat quite a bit. Every mirning after shower I use Sanex. It works well, doesn't irritate or stain.

dove and dove for cis men

More than a few years ago my husband quietly told me that he could smell BO on me. I was horrified as I showered daily, used a spray deodorant and washed my clothes regularly.

I changed my soap to an anti bac - Shield, and started using the Triple Dry roll on deodorant at nights. They seem to work and there are no yellow stains on the clothing.

twiglet77 Thu 04-Aug-22 15:49:25

My preference is the Mitchum stick (not roll-on).

Gillycats Thu 04-Aug-22 14:46:26

I use Superdrug’s own brand roll on. It’s not tested on animals, works well and is cheap.

Grandmafrench Thu 04-Aug-22 11:36:07

I wonder if there is actually one which is 'best'. We are all so different.

I think a lot depends on how much we sweat. And, unless it's excessive and soaks clothing (see photos of Meghan Markle's brown jumper as she left the Canadian Embassy in London before going to Canada to live; and more recently Wayne Rooney's jacket armpits leaving the High Court in London) - something which is possibly not terribly attractive - then most of us could skip the anti-perspirant part and sometimes could probably do without deodorant as well.

Don't forget it's stale sweat that creates BO., not fresh sweat. Sweat a lot or a little, let it dry. Fine. But if later you sweat again without showering, that's when you have a problem.

Very testing conditions in the South of France at the moment - most days in the 30's and sometimes 40 degree heat. Daily showers, then even using talcum powder in place of deodorant sometimes (I make my own) is ideal. Depends a lot on whether it's likely we'll sweat a lot and you're out and about and away from home.

Unless you have a serious problem and need a specialised deodorant, I think they are all much of a muchness. Never had yellow or other staining on clothes, mine or my DH. Currently using Dove Invisible Dry aerosol, Clean Touch. "Tested on 100 Colours"

Luckygirl3 Thu 04-Aug-22 10:27:34

Mitchum unscented stick.

Baggs Thu 04-Aug-22 09:40:04

I use (and have used for years) Dove unperfumed stick deodorant or Simple unperfumed roll-on. Neither of these has left marks on my clothes.
