Well someone had to start the thread.

First celebrity was announced on Breakfast this morning.

Will Mellors - I like him!

I can’t stand it. Have to watch it at a relative’s home and can’t wait to get home and haveour own choice.

I don't think Jayde's a good mover or particularly watchable.
Larger people can dance (Susan Calman was excellent) but not Jayde. She was flat-footed and stompy. She didn't merit 2 x 8s last night.

People should not be shouted down for their opinions on here.

Yes, I thought her dancing was flat-footed and stompy, not her best so I was surprised at the high marks.
But I'm not much of a dancer so no judge.
I only know if I enjoy a dance and don't notice any obvious mistakes.
I'm sure she can do better.

When I read that Jayde was to be a contestant, I was looking forward to watching and listening to her and hope she stays in for many more weeks.

This interview is so informative and says a lot about her background and her interest in contemporary dance.

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/sep/26/im-going-to-smash-strictly-jayde-adams-on-love-death-fat-shaming-and-disco-dancing

It must be very emotional for her as it will be bringing back so many memories of her dancing, freestyle disco, with her sister as a youngster. Something she talks about a lot in the article.

Off to read the other thread ! ?? for all your positive comments volver?. Thank you.

Opinions may differ but insulting other posters with sarcastic comments is very poor (imo)

People should be shouted down for opinions which are prejudice based though Sparklefizz. A critique of somebody’s dancing skills are the only opinions that are relevant.

Oh G** I can't help myself.

If people think Jayde isn't a good dancer, they are more than entitled to say so. They are not entitled to say she looks awful and cries fake tears.

I enjoy watching her because she is not the standard stereotype of a dancer but she loves it anyway, and shows people that anyone can dance if they want to.

She wasn't embarrassed. Quite the opposite.

eazybee Sun 09-Oct-22 10:22:18

Dance is for everyone regardless of size, shape and ability, but this is a professional show designed for a public audience. I watch it because I want to enjoy the dancing, not watch contestants make fools of themselves.

Jayde's dance last night embarrassing because she was embarrassed. It was a most inappropriate choice of music, impossible to separate from an iconic dance routine, and I wondered who was responsible for the selection.

volver Sun 09-Oct-22 08:50:31

You seem nice.

grin

Clawdy Sun 09-Oct-22 08:22:56

I thought Jayde looked awful last night, and they are over marking her ridiculously. Sick of her fake tears every week too.

Hellogirl1 Sat 08-Oct-22 23:16:36

If I was a size 16, I`d be rejoicing at being slim, not overweight, lol!
Jayde`s got guts, if nothing else, but she`s also a not too bad dancer, although I`m not at all keen on same sex partnerships in the programme.

So sorry Grandmasue I pressed the wrong quote.

?we’ve all done it!

I enjoyed Jayde’s enjoyment and admire her for not giving a ‘fig’ at the fact she might have offended some people by being positive about herself. Go Jayde!

Some time in the Stone Age I used to go to a modern jive class where you had to dance every dance with a different partner. The guy in most demand was a chap who had rhythm, knew excellent moves including dips and drops, and gave a great lead.

Big lad, if I recall. Nobody cared, least of all him.

Katya is a brilliant choreographer and Tony was very entertaining. I think Ellie Taylor is proving that being tall and slim doesn’t automatically make you into a good dancer. Lisa Riley was really good when she was on and she managed to come 5th. I like the diversity on Strictly this year, older, taller, shorter; and not going back to the days of regimented ‘Come Dancing’.

Yes it is personel choice
LofV but I dont parade myself in a swimming costume, I sun bathe and swim in it. Such a shame you worry so much what you look like that it stops you doing things.
I enjoyed Jayde's dance with Karen tonight and so did she. Let's look at her dancing and not her size.
As a 14/16 myself I will not diet, I will eat what I want and I will do what I want and should be able to do it without people commenting on my size. Go Jadye and the other bigger dancers.

I think that anyone who has any sort of disability should be able to dance, ride swim or whatever they want to do. They ought to have every chance and encouragement. |My daughter has a disability and does most things remarkably well. However, she (or I) did not cause her problems. Being fat is , often, a lifestyle choice. I have realigned my diet and am losing my excess weight. When I was much bigger I would have felt very uncomfortable parading my blubber in a swimsuit or leotard. Personal choice though.

Blubber.??

Just as well that Jayde doesn't hate herself like some, isn't it?

Obviously I meant comment rather than convent o_0

Zoejory Sat 08-Oct-22 20:44:33

I didn't like that convent either. So very unnecessary. Jayde moves well and is very likeable.
It's great to see people of all shapes and sizes on the show.

Go girl. ?

Absolutely, very entertaining and that is what it is about.
