Lovely photograph Soop. Ladyleftfield is the WI posh tea an annual/monthly event? Sounded lovely.
Dull here with a hint of drizzle but that suits me and Ddog. Second attempt to return library books. Always helps to check library opening hours.
Bed linen changed. Curry made. Dough rising. Will message my three AC later to check how they are doing.

Best of luck tomorrow SueDonim I was surprised at your actual visit to the bank, tortuous.
Minimal rain here, but we’re giving away tomatoes, lovely photo soop you’re album will be bursting.
Have a good evening all x

Another lovely photo, Soop. I am in the middle of gathering my new curtains and putting the hooks in. A tedious job! We had our WI posh tea today. All very tasty and we all dressed up, except the Treasurer who arrived in shorts and teeshirt. She definitely got the email! It was great to all meet up and enjoy tasty food, chat and fizz.

Good luck tomorrow SueD hoping all goes smoothly with the house move
Im just in from a lovely catch up with my pal, first we did the Aqua class at the gym and then across the road to Starbucks for a sit down in the comfy chairs, a coffee and a sandwich. We chatted away for ages - as you do!
Nice idea for a tapas lunch to practicar tu español grandmabatty ??
A quick and easy Charlie Bigham curry for tea and that’s that for today
Oh yes and Galen please post everyday stuff like we all do, it doesn’t have to be anything special, it’s just lovely to hear from you
Love the picture Soop thanks for sharing ?

Good evening dear Kitcheners, I’m feeling tired as I didn’t sleep to well, but I have managed to do a little housework, 50 minutes cycling to nowhere and my Gaelic studies. Mr. B did the weekly shop and will be cooking dinner, so I can relax now. I’m not quite up to Urmstongrans standards yet grin #lazygran

Good luck with the move tomorrow SueDonim

soop Wed 17-Aug-22 17:41:29

Grandmabatty Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Suedonim Thinking of you and the momentous occasion when you move house tomorrow. I hope that all goes well.

I've completed the ironing. Been writing thank you letters. Now it's time to sit down and relax. No pedal powering today. I am still recovering from our wonderful weekend with family. It's allowed. wink

Goodnight dear Kitcheners. I shall be with you again tomorrow. smile moon

My author son...

Afternoon ladies. I'm just back from a lengthy lunch at my friend's house. A tapas inspired one in honour of my attempts at Spanish. Soop I still have a tarantula hiding under the tv unit - I think. I haven't investigated. Dgs1 had a wonderful day at nursery and has made new friends. Suedonim good luck with the move tomorrow. Fingers crossed it goes well. A small ironing awaits. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 17-Aug-22 15:20:38

Afternoon everyone. Hotter than I thought it would be but nothing like earlier in the week. Nearby rivers look healthier. Neighbours' children set off in great form. They will be back soon. I imagine they will be shattered!
Chores including hunting down various documents. Realise I have far too many notebooks/note pads/diaries. Have always been a sucker for stationery but have no real use for so many items. Will hand some over to DD and GC.
Stewed apples from our apple tree and made a chilli for tea.
Frightening news re food price rises. Foodbanks will be under pressure.
Galen you may live a dull life but I am sure you are very interesting. My life is a bit groundhog day but am learning to appreciate these fallow days. TOYA

Afternoon all I've just finished dusting it is a lot cooler here following a few hours of rain yesterday evening and overnight our dd and her 2 visited yesterday they are just back from holiday ,no washer at home waiting for a part so it was just like a launderette here we managed to get 3 big loads washed and dried ,we also had a sports day which the Gc had organised in the garden I drew the line at using scooter Gs asked was it because I was old !!

soop Wed 17-Aug-22 14:34:14

A friend called in for coffee. It was 1:30 before we returned to our normal routine. So much to blether about. It was good to catch up.

I have read through your many messages. It isn't possible to respond to every one. As per, you lovely lot have made me smile, nod my head and sympathise when needs be.

I have ironing to keep me out of mischief this afternoon. I gave Sweetie Pie's apartment a thorough turn-out yesterday afternoon. Replaced the flooring and bedding and wee carpet. Our friends have been leaving fresh food inside the apartment every day (just in case she came calling.) The uneaten food was discarded if she failed to eat it. Sadly, the slugs had invaded and that is the reason for the scrub and freshen up session.

Did someone mention spiders? I have a "thing" about arachnids. I do not kill them. BUT, their presence in the house at this time of the year fills me with dread. Isn't it silly? I wish I could feel differently...

Out with the ironing board. I may ride the exercise bike later. It's nowhere near as hot and muggy. I am easing myself back into some sort of routine.

I missed our kitchen. I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that you would all be there for each other. So comforting. You are very special peoples. smile flowers sunshine

soop Wed 17-Aug-22 14:12:27

Neine You certainly have a way with words. I love your stories. Thank you.

Ann Your photo is beautiful. I wouldn't say no to sampling one of those special Martinis.

Blossoming Wed 17-Aug-22 11:30:06

You do get into some pickles Neine! I’m glad the drain is sorted, but most of all I’m glad that you have been able to contact your daughter and family. As you say that door is not closed flowers

Naughtyneine Wed 17-Aug-22 09:53:44

Yay... Welcome home Soop... Lots of memories made to treasure forever.... priceless.
Yia... Not the best end to your holiday but I hope it didn't spoil it too much.
Llf...I love the material....life is too short for beige or taupe!!!??
We've had loads of rain here... The drain outside the front got blocked with debris and the downpipe separated because of the force of the rain so we had a mini flood... So yesterday evening saw me shovelling and sweeping like something demented then just as DOH came home...I had just managed to push the down pipe back into place and was attempting to twist it slightly so the water could flow down the drain when it separated again and poured down all over me...I just stood there like a contestant in I'm a celebrity in one of those outdoor showers....and then we both nearly wet ourselves laughing....I could have anyway as nobody would have known as I was like a drowned rat anyway.
Normal service is now resumed...DOH got up a ladder and secured the downpipe into the correct position and the newly cleared drain is functioning properly. Whether my lovely Birkenstock lookalikes will survive is another matter.
As a little postscript to my post last week. I sent a message to my twin Grandsons on their birthday...I waited until later in the day and kept it brief ..I wished them Happy Birthday and told them that I loved them from the moment they were born 16 years ago and always would and wished them lots of happy times in the coming year. I also messaged their parents and told them I had messaged the boys as I didn't want them to think I was going behind their backs. I didn't get a reply but neither was I blocked from sending further messages. That has given me some hope that the door isn't closed.

Welcome home to the Soops - lovely photographs and beautiful grandchildren!
Best wishes to everyone else. Enjoy your new home SueD and good to see you too Galen.
I'm interested in your son's book Soop so will PM you soon.
flowers to all.

Good to see you galen. Hope you’re ok. A pretty unexciting life here too, I just waffle away now and again.

Goodnight everyone. TOYA

Galen Tue 16-Aug-22 22:21:48

I am still lurking. But I’ve nothing interesting to post.
Very dull life!

Bellanonna Tue 16-Aug-22 21:44:42

soop those are lovely pictures of your younger family. I’m glad you had such a lovely time. Was your small house guest waiting when you got back? I’m sure it’s cooler on Kintyre and it will be a relief for you both to get home. It’s rained for an hour here today and we expect storms tomorrow, and a gradual lowering of the temperatures.

SueDonim Tue 16-Aug-22 21:34:13

Thank you for the good wishes! smile

If only it was just the press of a button on a keyboard, Jaxjackie. It took three quarters of an hour in an overly warm bank (no chairs on offer) and much use of pens and paper by staff to carry out the transaction. confused I did actually say to Dh that it would have been easier to write a cheque! grin

Dogs, we’re moving about 80 miles from where we lived previously. We’ll be near to one of our daughters and two GC. We’ve already been asked to babysit. ?

Hellogirl1 Tue 16-Aug-22 21:27:06

Welcome back, Mr and Mrs Soop, lovely pics of great grandchildren. What is your son`s book about if you don`t mind me asking?
Had a phone call a short while ago, one of my grandsons told me he`d just proposed to his girlfriend, and she said yes! Good job, they`ve been together 6 years today, and their son, the gorgeous Hudson, is just 15 months old.
SueD, all the best in your new home.

Jaxjacky Tue 16-Aug-22 21:02:27

Welcome back Yia lovely picture a day or so of an area of France we’ve not visited.
Smashing photos soop, I’m sure it was wonderful and psssed too quickly.
I remember my first house SueD and writing that ginormous cheque, all done at a press of a keyboard now.
Son and his family in Woolacombe having a whale of a time. I was tied to voluntary phone today (holiday) cover and had a drive.
We’ve had 30 minutes of drizzle and a subsequent 10 of a heavy squall, that’s it, in 22 I was still in shorts, could try harder weather!
Have a good evening kitcheners x

brook2704 Tue 16-Aug-22 20:44:00

Oooh Happy New Home SueD wishing you all the very best in your new surroundings - how exciting!

It’s still raining here in Inverness, we had a brief spell this afternoon when it stopped, so I got my wellies and coat on and went into the garden to see what’s what. Most things were looking sad and droopy, except the weeds of course that grow so much with the rain. I tidied up a few forlorn plants then gave up and made pasta bolognaise to warm us up. A chilly 13º here but all day I’ve resisted the urge to put the heating on.
Our DGC went back to school here today dogsmms but all the very best to your neighbours little ones starting in P1 tomorrow
A lovely trip to look forward to blossoming

Dogsmakemesmile Tue 16-Aug-22 20:17:21

Can only echo Blossoming , Soop- what a difference a year makes. Very happy for you. And Blossoming I am always impressed by all you achieve everyday. I must try to more organised.
SueDonim how exciting for you. Will keep fingers crossed. Apologies if you have referred to the move previously (memory like sieve etc) but are you moving far away from your old house ?
Another grandchildren day. Decided to be a bit more organised and set out fun stuff and changed things around when the children looked a bit bored. We had a lovely day including a walk during which the two year old (it could only be a two year old) found a piece of gravel and gave it to me saying "bit of treasure for you Grandma".
Cool here. Heavy rain overnight. I am grateful.
Tomorrow is catching up day. Library books back and maybe a potter around the charity shops. Even better I should take a bag of stuff to the charity shops. The schools go back tomorrow and it is a big day for several neighbours whose first born are off to P1. Fingers crossed for all of them. x

Blossoming Tue 16-Aug-22 19:53:37

Welcome home Soop, so pleased for you. Lovely photos. How different from a year ago flowers
I’m really tired tonight. Have done laundry, cycling, exercises and Gaelic. Mr. B and I have arranged a trip to Galloway next month, so excited to revisit old friends. We haven’t been away over the border since 2019 and I’m missing it. I think the excitement has been too much for me! Oidhche mhath grin

Nannytopsy Tue 16-Aug-22 19:23:38

Welcome back soops! Lovely memories for you.
Congratulations SueDonim - ?
Yiayia we know that promenade very well - I have lots of sunset photos taken there!
DGC here but we are about to take them home - phew!

SueDonim Tue 16-Aug-22 19:14:56

Hello Soop! What lovely photos- your older GGrandaughter is so like you to look at! ❤️

LadyLF, I saw some wallpaper that is not dissimilar to your fabric, and I really, really want it. grin

I’m just here mainly to say that today I parted with what is, to us, a large sum of money, to pay for our new abode. Fingers crossed that in 48 hours we’ll be in possession of the keys!

Also, that we’ve had a fair amount of rain which has had the dual effect of reducing the temperature (it’s a delicious 14deg today) and silencing the nighttime seagulls. Win win!

TOYA. Xx
