Glad to hear that Urms! My eyelashes have never been my strongest feature!
Thanks for your good wishes! Fergus is now feeding very well, putting back on the weight he lost and generally thriving. We go back to see them on Thursday ?.
A better day today - furniture painted, washing put away, bed changed and laundered plus yet more admin.
We have watched a lot of cricket and rugby this weekend and now it’s MOTD2.
NNGB everyone and hope all is well with the soops!

Pittcity Sun 14-Aug-22 22:25:50

Urms I find that vaseline does wonders for eyelashes and brows. Just smear some on at bedtime.

Blossoming Sun 14-Aug-22 22:23:20

Phew what a relief Urms grin

Urmstongran Sun 14-Aug-22 22:10:12

P.S. I’m glad to tell you all I’m finally ‘Express Eyelash’ free at last. Yay! Bluddy wonderful. I shall just cherish my own stubby ones, itch free - bliss. I’m buying a serum to apply at night now. Never again for falsies, 16 nights (?) of prickliness!
You can all rest easy now in your beds tonight. ?

Urmstongran Sun 14-Aug-22 21:54:17

‘Evening All’.

Back up from our dinner. “Now THAT’s a Baileys!” said daughter as we chinked glasses. Prices seem similar out here but measures are definitely more generous!

L’il Miss swims like a tadpole now, no arm bands, jumping in and diving down for rings. She can find & scoop up 4 now wearing goggles. Plus she has learnt to do tipple overs one after another. “Watch me grandma”. It’s great to see how regular pool use pays dividends in confidence and ability.

Also, it’s apparent that much as we like to practice our Spanish, the locals very much like to practice their English!

Jaxjacky Sun 14-Aug-22 21:35:24

I’m sure your shower was most welcome muse thank goodness for lovely people.
Narrow escape there brook and not too long a wait, packaging, bane of our lives.
Cooled a bit here, no sniff of rain, still sticky, must remember to close downstairs windows before bed. I must get on tomorrow with chores put off.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 14-Aug-22 17:36:27

Hello everyone and commiserations to those with cut fingers etc. We had a lovely weekend with our daughter, who has now gone back to London. We popped into Oxford before she got her train and had a look in several shops! Amazingly we didn’t buy anything apart from iced coffee! There were some very nice things in Seasalt for the autumn. Daughter tried on a beautiful dress in John Lewis. It was size 10 but too big. I was size 10 oncesad I am still finding the heat difficult. It is 32 degrees as I type. I think I will have a cold sausage sandwich for dinner.

brook2704 Sun 14-Aug-22 17:31:34

Thank you all for your good wishes DH is now safely home with about 5 steri strips keeping the wound closed and a neat looking bandage - not too much damage done thankfully and all done within an hour or so. It’s a new knife that he only bought yesterday, one of those hook shaped things to use for clearing out moss and weeds etc between paving slabs, he was trying to get it out of the plastic packaging when the plastic suddenly ripped and it got his thumb .
Enjoy your time away Yia and thanks for the gorgeous picture
So pleased you can use the facilities at the nearby holiday park muse I wish I could send you some rain ☔️
The thunderstorm has cleared now but boy did it rain! The sky is still grey and there’s maybe more rain to come later, it’s still warm though

GrannyGravy13 Sun 14-Aug-22 17:26:44

Annsixty you look fab.
Back home tomorrow enjoy your day everyone.Last nights sunset.

Grannmarie Sun 14-Aug-22 15:45:29

I hope your DH is OK, Brook, that sounds sore!

I've had a lazy day, spent a wee while on my lounger but had to come in to cool down! I think we are due thunderstorms soon too.

I'll shower and dress to meet my sisters at early evening Mass. I'll light candles and offer a wee prayer for those who need/ wish one.

Chicken curry in the slow cooker for later.

TOYA.

Blossoming Sun 14-Aug-22 15:40:51

Oh heavens Brook, I hope your DH s OK! Mr. B has chopped his fingers on a few occasions, they seem to bleed profusely but fortunately they also seem to heal quickly.

Grandmabatty Sun 14-Aug-22 15:28:07

Oh my goodness Brook. I hope your dh is ok. I've been for lunch with the family. It was a tetchy affair. I think the heat is getting to some of them. No sign of thunder and lightning here yet, although I think it's forecast for later. No dinner required later either as I'm still full of chicken fajitas. Have a good evening Kitcheners

brook2704 Sun 14-Aug-22 15:17:19

Just in the middle of a big heavy thunderstorm here in Inverness, we’ve thunder and lightning, the sky is black and the rain is bouncing off the pavements
Im sitting in A&E with DH who’s just cut his thumb with a garden knife - I think it’ll need a couple of stitches but not too much damage thank goodness ?

dustyangel Sun 14-Aug-22 13:17:14

annsixty No, definitely not 85 even! Thank you for the chairs info. smile

Blossoming Sun 14-Aug-22 11:42:50

Good morning dear Kitcheners. Thank you for all your kindness yesterday, it’s always a day of mixed feelings for me. I tossed and turned last night and was awake this morning at 6am. After morning meds, a trip to the bathroom and a large mug of tea courtesy of Mr. B, I fell soundly asleep and awoke again at 10am.
Hope you get the water delivery tomorrow muse, and how kind of that park manager. It’s an awful situation to be in, a shower is bliss when you’re without facilities!
Hope wee Fergus is doing well NannyTopsy.
I am planning to do very little today, stay cool and enjoy your Sunday all x

annsixty Sun 14-Aug-22 11:22:52

Good morning all.
Dustyangel our tables are indeed the same, what good taste we both have.
The chairs as you were interested are from M&S as is the table and they are very reasonably priced.
Thank you for saying I don't look 81 but that begs the question, do I actually look 85 which is my real age?
Perhaps you had better not answer that in case you get into trouble with me.?

Dogsmakemesmile Sun 14-Aug-22 07:19:14

Morning all. Up earlier than normal as DH on call. Ddog looked amazed to be woken at six but soon found his frisk. Also much better for him to be out before the sun becomes too hot.
Am dressed and all ready for the day. Floors mopped and wash on. We aren't too fussed with food in this heat so fridge full of salads and yogurts. Allotment beckons later.
Apologies for not referencing anybody but have not read back. Will do so now. Thoughts with you all. Take care. Keep cool. Rain on its way. I think.

Grannmarie Sat 13-Aug-22 22:05:02

Good evening, lovely Kitchen people!

I hope The Soops are having a wonderful family reunion.

Blossoming, this is the anniversary of the day you survived, rejoice, lovely lady!flowers

Muse, the kindness of strangers, enjoy your showers.

SueD, I hope they do a proper assessment of your dear Mum, a return home has to be well supported.

Grandmabatty, what an early bird you are, well done on all your work. I have done very little today.

Dusty, the sardines photo reminds me of a wonderful lunch DH and I enjoyed on a rooftop restaurant near Praia da Rocha, about 15 years ago. The fish had been brought in by a local boat, then barbecued on the shore. I didn't know I liked sardines until then!

Jaxjacky, so sorry about the drought. According to my weather app, we're getting rain tomorrow in Lanarkshire. Wish I could send you some.

We had a lovely afternoon sitting out in DS3's garden, good to spend time with him and hear his plans for his house and garden. We had to chase the shade because it was very warm for us, 29 degrees.

I'm now sitting with my feet up, glass of SB, enjoying my Australian soap, A Place to Call Home. I love the 50s fashions.

TOYA, NNGB. ??

SueDonim Sat 13-Aug-22 21:33:19

Muse that reminds me of a friend whose water came from a private spring, back in the 1980’s. They ran out one summer and they had a terrible time. Whenever one of them came to our house they’d fill up one of the large containers they kept in their car from our taps. They’d then have to pump it up into their tank. That’s all not to mention all the boiling of water that had to take place.

I hope you get rain soon.flowers

muse Sat 13-Aug-22 19:02:05

Hello Kitcheners.

Not read everyone's news yet but I will do before bed.

After a very worrying week about our now non existent water supply, I feel joyous the evening. I rang a near by holiday park this morning to see if we could buy a pass to use their facilities..
I had to hold back the tears, when the manager said they were fully booked and the showers were used by guests throughout the day, but we could go around in the evenings after they have closed the pool and use the showers by the pool then. No charge.

Another joyous phone call was that on Monday, we hope to get a call from a water company that can bring us 5000 ltrs. That will last us a quite a few weeks. He sounded positive. I was not surprised that find out that there are many here in Cornwall that are not on mains water supply. Boreholes and wells are drying up or like us, with our supply from a stream, the supply has dried up completely.

Today, I went back to wearing long trousers tucked into socks. Yesterday, I chanced a walk with Mya minus my socks. Last night it took MrMuse over an hour to carefully remove 9 tiny ticks from my legs. His hand made twister tool is very useful in getting the whole tick out.

I shall get myself a cool white wine and backtrack now to read your posts

Take care everyone,

Grandmabatty Sat 13-Aug-22 18:56:32

Afternoon ladies. Gosh, it's hot! The heat is oppressive today. I did all my Saturday housework and washing early this morning. I went to aldi at eight o'clock and then the local garden centre where I bought a twisty hazel tree and other stuff. I've always wanted one. So it's now in a very large pot in my garden. I've just had steak and chips as a treat. I rarely eat meat nowadays. The ironing is done and put away. No sign of the monster spider today. I expect it'll leap out later. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

SueDonim Sat 13-Aug-22 18:50:01

ERK at spiders already! Noooooo! ?

I know I won’t be able to remember everything about everyone but flowers for Blossoming I hope the baby is soon well, Topsy. Are they at home now?

Annsixty you’re kidding us that you’re 85yo - having just seen your photo I don’t believe a word of it! ❤️ What’s your secret, is it the cocktails? ?

It’s been a busy week with preparing to move next Friday. Royal Mail still isn’t recognising our post code, the one they allocated to us, so doing change of address stuff has been vexing, to say the least. hmm

I’ve been visiting my mother, who is still is hospital. The OT has been to her house but not suggested any adaptations. I don’t know how they propose she goes home when she was unable to even get into a car to go on the Home Visit. ?‍♀️

Weather has been pretty good though I was grateful for an afternoon of haar yesterday which kept the temperature down to a comfortable level for rushing about doing things.

Take care everyone! Xxx

Jaxjacky Sat 13-Aug-22 18:37:02

A funny old day for you Blossoming you should be proud of how far you’ve come.
No garden to attend to here brook ground is rock hard, drought not helping, I’m keeping the veg and a few annuals going, fingers crossed the promised rain doesn’t bypass us.
A day of little done, 33, just cooling now at 29. Watched some cricket, now Man U getting thumped, as a Southampton supported I’m not that upset!
Sardines look yummy dusty I’m very partial to them, but I usually have to settle for the smaller whitebait.
MrJ on dinner duty, I’m about to have a glass of wine cheers ?
Enjoy your evening everyone x
