‘Evening All’

Just back home after enjoying a curry from over the road and Himself picked up my stepfather who joined us. Boy it was nippy out! I put on my wool pea coat for warmth even though it was sunny mid afternoon when I walked across. Just enjoying a cup of tea now. No heating needed here yet but I’ve put my softies on plus a cardigan for the first time in months.

Winter draw(er)s on.

SueDonim Sun 25-Sept-22 19:12:42

Happy birthday, Charlie! ?

It was my birthday yesterday. Both my DD’s were able to be here, which is one of the pros for us moving nearer to dd1. Both the GC were horribly behaved (though tbh, I think my own DC were worse, back in the day blush ) The 4yo huffed off to a different room, where she sat and sulked all by herself. She didn’t realise it wasn’t a punishment to the rest of us to not hear her screeching and wailing. grin

No significant news on my car. It’s all taking so lonnnnnnng. hmm We’ve done lots of ‘life admin’, signing on at a GP’s, sending off driving licences etc. it’s all been made more tiresome because so many places don’t recognise our newly minted postcode and we have to do it by post instead. With thr DVLA you can’t even download a form from the website to print and post, you have to go to a specific post office to get a form or ask the DVLA to post one to you and then post it back. Honestly, this country is run, I despair.

Things are in the planning for my mum’s return home which is likely to be mid-October. I’ve spent a lot of time and literally thousands of pounds on all this now and still not had a single thank you. Hmmmm…..

So nice that Sweetie Pie has returned, Soop!

BladeAnnie argh at the knitting! I’ve unearthed a project from the garage this afternoon. I know I was using an internet knitting pattern but I haven’t a clue which one. ?‍♀️

The house sorting is slowly happening, as the mood takes us. Two trips to the dump this weekend and another two planned!

On that note I shall leave you. TOYA! Xx

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Jax I was exhausted this morning after another night of nausea, nerve pain and no sleep. I have done very little today, the weather has been so grey and uninspiring. Mr. B and I are re-listening to Wolf Hall, we are both Hilary Mantell fans and it’s good to listen to a book together smile. I’m hoping for a decent sleep tonight.

Goodnight all, sleep tight.

Barmeyoldbat Sun 25-Sept-22 18:19:57

Good evening everyone, been really busy today as it’s the first day I have felt well, I even managed to eat half my dinner tonight andenjoyed it. I managed to plant some pots with bulbs and get the fountain working again in the pond. Met my son for a coffee and cake after he phoned this morning to see what we were doing. But now I really need to my packing as we are going to Croyde Bay for 5 days tomorrow, and Mr B has very kindly done all my ironing when he finished his. He knows ironing can set my muscles in my back into spasms, well that’s my excuse. Bladeannie I wish you every success with sorting your knitting, I am having ago at knitting socks using four needles. So have a peaceful evening with a good nights sleep

soop Sun 25-Sept-22 17:41:46

Blossoming I am joining our Kitcheners in wishing you a speedy recovery from whatsoever irks you. Listen to your body. If it demands rest...then do just that.

Grandmabatty your generosity knows no bounds. Thank you muchly for spoiling us lot

dustyangel Continue to enjoy the company of your daughter and her husband.

Charleygirl Your chair is as special as your heart desires.

brook I am very fond of my hot water bottle with a fluffy cover. wink

BladeAnnie No wonder you feel a trifle miffed. Hey ho! I know that feeling well.

Llfl Long ago, I also clipped a low wall in a huge carpark in Plymouth. hmm You most certainly deserved the brew and the decadent cream cake. After all, you will have needed a sugar rush.

I began today's Kitchen visit some hours ago. At one point I felt extremely nauseous and needed to lie down. The feeling has passed. It was all very strange and unsettling.

Now I shall log off and have a nice cup of tea. The wind is strengthening, and the sea is looking very frisky. I may even wear my cosey dressing gown. We're not expecting any visitors.

Love to you all. smile moon

Jaxjacky Sun 25-Sept-22 17:00:02

No tumble drier here Charleygirl I’ve never had one and I’m down South.
Up this morning, stripped bed, sorted t shirts to go away and showered, MrJ had kindly put the heating on, just for an hour.
Oh dear llfl the sort of thing I’d do to, I’m sure it’s easily fixed.
Took my son to pick up his new hybrid bike earlier, goodness me the roads were busy, I hadn’t realised McDonald's was our new Sunday roast. I don’t usually go far at the weekend’s, you can tell!
Blossoming I hope you’ve improved, you sounded rough on GM.
Gammon in the slow cooker, MrJ has remade the bed plus the electric blanket, all is well.
Catch you all later.

BladeAnnie Sun 25-Sept-22 16:44:05

Good afternoon dear kitcheners - I trust everyone is having a good Sumday ?. I'm trying to sort out this b****y knitting ?? but Duncan is being quite needy today so of course I have to keep stopping to tend to his needs!! Sending hugs and warmth from our log burner TOYA

Grandmabatty Sun 25-Sept-22 15:15:50

Good afternoon kitcheners. I hope Blossoming is feeling better. Ladyleftfieldlover ouch! I ran into a pillar in a multi storey car park because I wasn't being careful. My sympathies.
I've made scones and chocolate chips cookies. I'm about to make banana bread. I'll leave some in the kitchen. Breezy and drizzle here and quite cool. The bulbs will have to wait til tomorrow. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

dustyangel Sun 25-Sept-22 15:07:08

I’ve just been catching up with you all, I’m enjoying myself with DD1 and SiL visiting but otherwise not doing anything exciting. I’ve just popped in to wish an extremely belated birthday to Charleygirl5??. You are just about six months younger than me. smile

Charleygirl5 Sun 25-Sept-22 12:57:07

Thank you for yet more birthday greetings. I am going out for lunch for my birthday next Sunday and then I will forget about it until next year.

soop if sweetie pie is given a special mat, please may I have a special chair but preferably indoors while I wait for my meal? Thank you.

Autumn is here in the evenings but I am determined not to switch on the heating until October is here.

I am taking advantage of being able to dry my clothes outdoors as I have no heating on in the evening and being Scottish I do not possess a tumble drier, being too mean to switch it on.
TOYA

brook2704 Sun 25-Sept-22 12:40:58

That’s such a shame about the car llfl but so easily done especially if it’s a car park you’re not familiar with. I hope the repairs can easily be done when you get home, enjoy your holiday!

It’s dry and breezy here in Inverness and I’ve been out in the garden most of the morning. I’ve mowed the lawn again and I keep thinking it’ll be the last cut but it’s still growing albeit slowly. I’ve still got lots of perennials to cut back and tidy up for winter too. It definitely looks like it’s going to rain so I’m trying to get as much done whilst I can

Hoping you’re feeling much better soon Blossoming

I love my electric blanket too Jax so lovely to get into a warm bed at night ?

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 24-Sept-22 18:42:00

Hello everyone. A curate’s egg sort of day! Torrential rain but a trip to a HUGE Waitrose where we went mad. I even bought a pair of Italian socks made of wool and silk. After lunch we drove to Cromer where OH thoroughly enjoyed the pier. I was looking forward to Afternoon Tea but the place I had earmarked closed at 4 pm. Surely 4 pm is always tea time? Then, as I was driving out of the car park I drove up against a low wall dividing the rows of cars. Eek! Quite a lot of that rubber decorative stuff at the front of the car was damaged. OH moved what he could but as I drove further a larger piece was dragging on the ground. My First Aid kit (bought 7 years ago and so far never used) contained a pair of extremely sharp scissors. These were perfect for cutting off the dangling rubber. Obviously, when we get home I’ll take the car to the garage to get smartened up. A cup of tea was very welcome when we finally got back together with a beautiful choux bun stuffed with lashings of cream and coated with chocolate.

Jaxjacky Sat 24-Sept-22 18:34:02

I’m sorry to hear you’re not tip top Blossoming thank you for the heater review, I’ll put one on my shopping list.
Rather unnerving cornergran I’d feel the same, this time next week it’ll be a distant memory. You may need to fish out a scarf next week to keep your neck warm.
We had sun today, but when it clouded over, with the wind, it was chilly. Bedding to wash tomorrow and the electric blanket will go on too, MrJ never uses his half, I’m the chilly one.
Due to a bit of a cock up by me defrosting the wrong thing for dinner tonight, sweet pancakes for a savoury stuffing, oops, MrJ will be supporting a local business aka the local chippy!
Enjoy your evening all x

BladeAnnie Sat 24-Sept-22 18:11:42

Good afternoon dear kitcheners. Blossoming feel better soon ?. I've got lots of post holiday washing done today so feeling rather pleased with myself I picked up my knitting and thought I'd catch up with a bit of missed TV. Bad idea!! It's a twelve row pattern baby blanket (which I've knitted SO many times) and I've ended up with the right side pattern on the wrong side.....??. I feel more than a little cross with myself!! Butter chicken on the menu tonight which Mr BA has started concocting in the kitchen. Enjoy your evening - TOYA

brook2704 Sat 24-Sept-22 17:36:26

Oh blossoming hope your feeling much better soon, look after yourself and good to hear you’re keeping warm

brook2704 Sat 24-Sept-22 17:35:09

So pleased that Sweetie Pie has popped in to see you today soop, she knows where the best food is. It’s lovely too when you see the deer, we see them sometimes too. We had a right struggle some years ago before we got the deer fence put up as they used to come into the garden to nibble all the buds off the plants. I didn’t mind too much as I love seeing them but DH wasn’t too happy.
Ive been out all day again. Met DD2 and DGD in town and of course we had to go to the Smiggle shop - again ? More pink sparkly things, coloured pens and I don’t know whats were bought. I’m sure DGD and her school pals are keeping that shop in business they buy so much there! A Starbucks for lunch and then a bit more shopping, the time went really quickly. I picked up an M&S curry for tea so no cooking needed later, just need the energy to pour the wine
DH has been in the garden all day, we’ve a small pond that needs an annual draining and good clean out so he’s been busy doing that. It looks much better now and ready for the winter
Enjoy your holidays llfl, the barn conversion sounds lovely

Blossoming Sat 24-Sept-22 17:21:32

Hello lovely Kitcheners. I’m not feeling very well today, sick and dizzy. I’m really should know by now that overdoing things causes me to crash sooner or later. My appetite, never brilliant, has disappeared. I will be OK after a few days rest and mollycoddling.

JaxJacky my little heater arrived on Thursday, used it twice and so far I’m pleased with it. I put it on for an hour before bed last night and then again this morning and it’s warmed the air up nicely. It does need to be at least a foot above any skirting board, not a problem in this house. So now I have my Amazon Oodie and my little heater I’m warm and snug smile

soop Sat 24-Sept-22 16:46:50

Sunny Saturday afternoon greetings to you lovely lot.

Have returned to one of the pet paintings that I had given up on (Mr Soop) egged me on, and it looks more. promising. That will do me for now.

corner Tuesday will soon be here. You will feel that a weight has been lifted from your mind once you return home from your appointment. flowers

Llfl We have converted two barns, both in Cornwall. The last barn was a hayloft. We lived upstairs. The grandchildren, when little, used to call it "the upside-down house". We called it the Lofthouse.

Thank you, Urms. Saturday night is G&T night. We only have a drink at the weekends. I shall, once again, raise a glass of cheer to all our Kitcheners.

Sweetie Pie paid another two visits today. She has a special mat on which she waits for her food. A mother deer and a youngster went by the fence. They took a long look in her direction before wandering on through the forest.

Goodnight for now. I will make every effort to join you again tomorrow. smile moon

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 23-Sept-22 22:18:48

Hello everyone. We are in a beautiful barn conversion holiday house in Norfolk. It took five and a half hours to get here! The roads were appalling. OH doesn’t drive long distances any more so I did all the driving. We look forward to exploring tomorrow and think we’re going to Cromer first.

Sad news about Hilary Mantell. I enjoyed her books.

cornergran Fri 23-Sept-22 21:47:35

It’s chilly round my neck, my haircut is err, shorter than is comfortable. Please don’t tell me it will grow, yes it will but oh so slowly. No wild mint here blossoming. Oh well, worse things happen at sea.

Sounds a decent birthday charley, perhaps you could have a word with one of ours. His birthday in two weeks and he refuses to celebrate at all. And sigh.

Off over the bridge tomorrow to see our friend if she’s well enough Said son and his family will be there too, with luck a decent day if another tiring one.

Call out of the blue today to summon me for a spinal test injection next Tuesday. The referral was in June, I’d successfully buried it in the back of my mind, now pulled to the front I am already nervous. Good news jax: waiting for an outcome is frustrating at times.

Apologies to those I have missed. Not ignoring you, rather the memory struggling.

Sleep was elusive last night so off now in the hope of remembering how to do it. . Sleep well everyone TOYA.

Hellogirl1 Fri 23-Sept-22 21:30:26

Sorry to be so late Charleygirl, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Urmstongran Fri 23-Sept-22 20:30:59

soop I just looked up at the clock. Cheers!
I enjoyed two glasses of Pinot Blush with dinner.
I’m done, ahead of you!

Urmstongran Fri 23-Sept-22 20:28:16

‘Evening All’

Our hour in the Trafford Centre today buying a present for a new baby was pleasant. I wrapped it beautifully with added ribbons in cream & pink. I know. Self praise is no recommendation!

Very late birthday greetings from me Charleygirl. I hope you enjoyed yourself. 79y? As you quite rightly say - It’s only a number. You’re as young as you feel dear lady. x

corner well done you riding any waves in the relationship with your grandchild’s mum. It’s lovely you’ve arrived at a comfortable friendship this will make a huge difference going forward. Enjoy those ? ?

Jaxjacky Fri 23-Sept-22 19:00:07

So much going on, sorry I missed your birthday Charleygirl pleased you had a lovely day ??.
Can I borrow your neighbours please Blue?
How frustrating soop I’m sure you’ll get there.
I had a Dr appointment this morning, very happy with the outcome. Later a visit from the blind company, the wand on one kitchen blind had broken, it’ll require a new track, to be supplied free, happy with that. Tesco delivered, everything supplied, with a cheery smile.
The chicken and cauli curry in the slow cooker should be about ready now.
Enjoy your evening all x

Blossoming Fri 23-Sept-22 18:56:05

I have been to the hairdressers today, my unruly hair grows like wild mint so was in need of a good pruning. Neine I hope you are feeling better after your unsettling experience flowers. It’s been a lovely sunny day here but noticeably cooler now the sun’s going down so the thermal vest has gone on this evening. Covid booster and flu jab booked for next Saturday. Have a pleasant evening all.
