Good Morning Sunday 7th August 2022

Good morning Mick and all. It’s a beautiful sunny morning in this corner of Lancashire, currently 18°C.

I’m sat up in bed, drinking a big mug of tea and waiting for my pills to go down. We had a fabulous day at my cousin’s Golden wedding celebration yesterday. The weather was perfect for a garden party, the company was wonderful and food delicious. I consumed enough calories to last me several days, my food diary will have a fit! We didn’t arrive home until late last night as it is a long drive so I don’t think we’ll be doing much today. My side is so very stiff but I was sat down all day so no worries about balance. Gentle exercises today.

I love plum jam Grandmattie, those look lovely. You sound happy Urmstongran, it’s lovely to hear. You sound much better too Grandmabatty, hope the horrible bug has left you at last.

Morning from West York's the sun out but it's cool.We have 2 of our gc coming for a few days we will be shattered they sent the easiest of children but we still love them. Happy Birthday Mr Kitty.

We had a lovely bbq yesterday with both children and their families, nearly four hours of fun. This afternoon it’s bowls, ladies v men, it’ll be warm, then out with the watering cans, spatchcock chicken for dinner.

Glorious morning and I am off to church in the next village (the one we moved from seven years ago). Only one service in our group of four churches because the Rector has Covid and we are lucky to have two Readers to take non-communion services. Otherwise nothing planned but the Sunday papers and the Commonwealth Games. Severe lack of motivation at present.

GG - I have exactly the same problem. Although Dh does have hearing aids , he doesn’t wear them. Dd said to me yesterday ‘mum , you are soooooo patient with dad mishearing!’. I’m not patient at all!

Good morning from an overcast and windy NE.
Heard from my sister yesterday, she has tested positive for covid. She was not well on Thursday yet she flew home on Friday and only did the test on Saturday morning. I was annoyed with her and told her how irresponsible she was.
Sister and BIL visited and took away four heavy sacks of clothing for charity, a great help to me.
SIL will come for dinner today, we will have pork medallions in mustard sauce.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny ?Northampton. Today will probably be a repeat of yesterday, read the papers, do the puzzles, sit in the garden and read. Just keeping away from people and busy places before my cruise next week.

I spent yesterday morning booking a few coach day trips in the autumn; it's always good to have something to look forward to.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14°, windy and grey. Yesterday never really warned up. Grandmattie lovely plums! Brook a full on visit for you. Ashcombe it's the agony of the itch of mosquito bites. Your poor daughter.
Yesterday my housewife's soul was assuaged as I got everything done. I even cleared up stuff that had been lying about the dining room. The life drawings I had done are now adorning the summer house or maybe it should be called 'studio'. The boys' room is a bit cluttered but I'm looking for some toy storage that can be used as they grow.
Today will be very quiet. I have a book to read and I shall potter happily. Gammon for dinner. Have a good day all.

We have DS asleep here, he came staggering in from a wedding at midnight. He is due to pick up GS this morning but I can see I will go for him as I don’t think he should be driving early. I did remind him when he came in but I got ‘oh mum I’ll be fine’
I didn’t win anything at the casino last night but the meal was really gorgeous.

Good morning all from a drizzly start to the day in Glasgow.
On my short drive to the charity shop yesterday a police car with all lights flashing stopped beside me at traffic lights, why I felt immediately guilty, I have no idea but the driver proceeded to give me a thorough tongue lashing informing me I was driving dangerously with an open tailgate! I began to politely explain I had not done this intentionally but he was on a roll to further berate me so I decided to say no more before I ended up in the cells! What an unpleasant individual who had no idea of the worrying time I am going through, probably the reason I forgot to close the tailgate. I shrugged it off and we enjoyed a visit from DD2 later in the day.

No outdoor activities today so I will get to work in the garage sanding down a piece of furniture I am itching to attempt a special paint effect on. ?

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey dreary Carlisle where the sun may or may not pop out later.
Not much planned for today, I ought to give myself a kick up the proverbial and get out into the countryside. Still struggling to get out of my covid rut, me who used to be the great traveller!
You reminded me of one trip aggie, what a beautiful place Connemara is.
Yesterday I continued the project of re-reading some of the fiction on my bookcases, books kept to read again one day. In the case of several, it's proving to be 30 or 40 years! And, as with yesterdays choice, I'm wondering why I thought I'd want to re-read it as it was far less enchanting the second time around. The charity bookshop is due to benefit yet again.

Have the best possible day everyone. Perhaps if you southerners sent some sun up here, we could let you have some cloud and rain?!

Today is dh's birthday - he is 77! DD1 is still here but will go home later and we expect visits from DD2 and DS2.

Yesterdays afternoon tea was delicious, of course we ate far too much, too good to leave. Some pottering and a lot of sitting in the garden for me today. I’ll retrieve the laundry from the line and think about ironing. One friend is quite unwell, hard not to be there. Mr C has a long awaited cardiology appointment later this week to agree a way forward for a failing mitral valve, no way can we miss that.

Special thoughts to all finding life hard going. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Good morning everyone from a sunny Connemara , home today .

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow. Alexa told me this morning that all this rain is good for the plants.
Our garden is indeed looking very colourful, but some sunshine would nice!

Yesterday, I discovered a cob of corn, the first I have ever grown. I was feeling quite chuffed with myself, when I noticed something lying in among my fruit bushes. I went to pick it up, when to my horror, I realised it was a dead bird. ??
I have always had a phobia about birds and somewhat over-reacted.
Poor DH got the fright of his life, when he heard me screaming! ?

I have no plans at all today, apart from a little sewing and bottling some beetroot.
I have a sleeveless dress, which makes me resemble Nell Gwynne, so the shoulders need lifted.
Dinner will be takeaway, DH suggested a break from cooking Sunday dinner, noticing that I am struggling a bit and finding it a chore.
He did offer to cook, but on previous historical events, I would rather he didn't! ?
He has been a treasure ( I retract my previous Victor Meldrew syndrome comments) , taking over much of the domestic duties.
For the first time ever, he hasn't buried his head in the sand and has acknowledged that my health is failing and that I just need to offload. It has only taken forty five years!

I was quite discombobulated last night, when filling up my meds box for the week, (just in case!), I realised I has forgotten to order my repeats, due to all that is going on at the moment, and will run out of one of my heart meds.
This is so unlike me, but my brain is all over the place at the moments.

Hoping for a visit from the lodgers today, who have been conspicuous by their absence.
A stash of gin and whisky has been discovered cluttering in the dining room, so if it isn't claimed soon, the gin will be donated to charity, i.e. DD's siblings! ?
They have such a huge gin collection, they probably haven't noticed it is missing!!

Praying that Auntieflo, isn't too unwell with Covid and that the poorly DDs are doing ok.

Good morning all and it’s another sunny, still, day. ?, here in Essex.

Yesterday was fun with Dd and little gd. Although my Dd has always been a bit of a trial since the day she was born,(one way or another) , there is no one I laugh with as much as I do with her. We actually have tears rolling down our faces.

Today I had hoped to see my db and SIL but I think they must be away for the weekend as I can’t get hold of them. Oh well, I expect I’ll hear from them when they get home. ?. My other brother phoned to ask if we want tickets to our nephews Opera in the Forest. You bet we do! We went last summer when he was in Pirates of Penzance and this year it’s HMS pinafore. The outdoor theatre is only 10 miles from our seaside cottage. Even Dh enjoyed it and he is very hard to please! ?. ?.

Not much on today - might pop to DS1’s for a coffee, (if we’re invited) . Wouldn’t just go, not that they wouldn’t be pleased to see us but we wouldn’t presume! ☺️. ?.

Enjoy your family’s visit, Urmstongran! My DD2 and family fly home from Barcelona to Manchester today. They had a thunderstorm on Friday which brought out the mosquitoes, resulting in 32 bites for DD2!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is struggling in South Yorkshire at the moment. DS, DiL and DD were all round my table for lunch yesterday and then we had a long walk. I am feeling it today. DS and DiL stayed the night and will go home after breakfast this morning and I will spend the day doing bits and pieces in the garden and trying to finish a picture I started painting. Dinner will probably be yesterdays left overs. Envy you your plums, GM - the pigeons decimated my tree this year and I haven’t had a single one!
