Anyone read the daily mail online?
In motoring section :- the stuff of nightmares! Creepy child-shape bollards designed to alert drivers to school crossing are branded ‘terrifying’ and have turned village into an 80’s horror film!! Not only do these look old and dated, but the Midwich cuckoo’s comes to mind. Think I’d tend to drive faster just to get passed them…

Yes - awful - they will cause more of a hindrance than a help

I haven’t seen that article, but I have seen the child shaped bollards in France.

We have some child shaped bollards in one part of Leicester and some pencil shaped bollards in another part. Both close to primary schools. Both quite effectve, i think.

Yes they’ve been there for at least 15 years, so it’s old news!

bevispl I read the article and laughed hysterically, they are truly hideous.

They reminded me of the awful charity boxes we had in the 60’s and 70’s of children with disabilities.

I genuinely thought this was silly (sorry) until I looked...

Very creepy

Hopefully they are fulfilling their purpose

There are some outside a nearby school. They've been there about 10 years, so are nothing new.

Same here in Derby

I wonder if hideousness is deliberately built into them to make people notice. I hope so.

I've never seen any btw but if they are effective then I say "Go them!" ?

There is an interesting article in The Guardian in 2017. Here is a link if anyone is interested in reading it.
