Good late morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is a very pleasant temperature and sunny. We are due to get rain next week so only a few more days of this. having to water my new oak tree
I have a glut of plums. I collected 4lbs off just 2 branches. I may give them away.
How lovely that you found your earrings Marydoll

I love your optimism Stilllearning and hope the washing machine is repaired.

I had a joiner/locksmith look at my front door which has lost some of its moulding, but he said I needed a specialist!

Nothing planned today but I may try to venture to a show tonight at the Edinburgh Fringe. My family have temporarily left for a trip north.

Morning all, thought you might like to see a photo I took last night of the ‘Supermoon’.
Tonight is the best night apparently, to look out for lots of ‘ shooting stars’ think its called the Perseid shower. Probably sleep better outside than in at present so could be a good idea to get comfy on a sunlounger around 11pm! ??

BlueBalou Fri 12-Aug-22 10:24:53

Good (mid)morning from a sun-baked village in Wiltshire ??
I was up at out at 5.30am walking DDog, there were a number of likeminded souls in the fields so DDog thoroughly enjoyed a chase around. It was already 17° at that time but pleasantly fresh.
Back home I have tidied, hung out a load of washing, prepped lunch and was enjoying a coffee by 9 ?
That’s pretty much it for today, my heart failure makes doing anything much in the heat very hard work so I don’t!. I will do some embroidery in a bit I think.
Take care everyone x

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s another sunny morning in this corner of Lancashire, currently 23°C.

In the news this morning that a drought is to be announced today. Thunderstorms are forecast for us on Monday with rain showers for most days next week.

Not much on the agenda today. I have a hair appointment this afternoon. Otherwise we’ll just see how it goes. I have managed to keep up with my exercise despite the heat. I split it into smaller chunks with a rest in between and plenty of sips of water.

Have the best day possible all ???

Stilllearning Fri 12-Aug-22 09:17:31

Morning from S Lanarkshire, lovely morning again.
I’m waiting for the washing machine repair man as mine has gone on the blink. I suspect it’s the electrics so may need an electrician.

After that I’m meeting a friend for lunch, some distance away so I hope the repair man comes when he promised!

My brother has just sent me a survey that has been published of all the surgeries in Scotland, from best to worst. It comes as no surprise that ours is second from the bottom so I hope that means somebody will do something about it!

Enjoy your day as best you can everyone, glad you and your husband feel reassured after your appointment cornergran???

Good morning from W Kent, decided to visit local shopping centre as it has air conditioning, maybe a quick look round and tea and cake. I had been expecting a visitor today but as they aren't coming now I feel I need to do something, goodness know why. Afternoon in the garden as usual.
Best wishes to all

Grandmadinosaur Fri 12-Aug-22 09:15:34

? good to see you Susan

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny warm Carlisle. It reached 27/28C here yesterday and is due to be even warmer today. We are not in the amber warning zone but it's too hot for me, I prefer the low twenties. The sun is what I enjoy even if the temperature is very low. This 'elderly' person will be taking it easy grandMattie ! I suspect none of us, however old and decrepit, apply that adjective to ourselves. We just keep moving the goalposts as we approach the age we formerly thought of as elderly.
I have a pile of clothes shortlisted as suitable for my holidays laid out on a spare bed. It's time to choose the winners I think. What really takes up room are the pills and potions, not prescribed ones, that I think necessary to take with me "in case". Anyone would think I am going far from civilisation rather than western Europe!
Other than that, I shall dig out another book to read. Another small pile went to the charity bookshop yesterday.

Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning for another glorious day in Durham. A long to do list, but I can’t start until the Gardener arrives. The Aircon on my car has packed in, so until I speak to the garage and hopefully get a day next week to have it re-gassed, I can’t book my hair appointment nor can I arrange for the glaziers to come and replace two windows in the conservatory which have blown.
I have a couple of DH‘s books to drop off with a friend for someone else and promised to see another friend for coffee.
The tenants at my rental property have found somewhere to live, but that’s leaving me with an empty house and no income from it far sooner than expected. The Estate Agent is bombarding me with email forms and documents to get it on the market. It’s some distance away, so a weekly visit there will have to be factored in and I only hope it sells before the bad weather, when I’ll be paying for the heating bills too.
Feeling stressed already!

aggie Fri 12-Aug-22 08:56:13

Good morning everyone from sunny NI , it’s a delicious 16 outside this morning , it only (?) went up to 27 yesterday !
I have been laboriously typing out the minutes of our club with one finger , but it doesn’t look right , I hope darling daughter sorts it later .
How did I get stuck with this ? Might be a bit of “big mouth”syndrome!

Marydoll Fri 12-Aug-22 08:56:09

Lovely to see you posting Susan.

NanaBabs1 Fri 12-Aug-22 08:51:24

Oh GrannySomerset never have I wished for a ‘like’ button more.

GrannySomerset Fri 12-Aug-22 08:46:39

Coffee with a friend but otherwise keeping cool - seems like a full time job! Need to do a supermarket run but will leave it till evening I think. Am in danger of running out of Magnums which seem more important than proper food this week.

Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

I enjoyed my lazy day reading in the garden yesterday soaking up the sunshine, although I did move my chair into the shade for a while.

Today I’m having lunch with two old school friends, we’ve known each other for fifty five years. Although one has lived in Greece since meeting her DH when we were only nineteen we always pick up easily whenever she’s visiting family here or we are in Athens.

Glad you found those earrings MD!

Have the best day possible everyone. sunshine

brook2704 Fri 12-Aug-22 08:28:57

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bit of a cloudy start today but warm
Today I’m going for the Aqua class at the gym and then I’ll meet DH for a trip to the garden centre
Pleased to hear the show is going so well Ash and it’ll be lovely to see your family too
If you’re meeting friends and family enjoy the special times together and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Urmstongran Fri 12-Aug-22 08:27:38

Hi to you Susan56 ?

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 12-Aug-22 08:26:00

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Hope you picked up your pills with all that palaver Marydoll
Today we have to find out if we are needed for DGD duties otherwise we shall take the car for a spin
DD2 has decided I’m too decrepit to look after DGS all day - I have to admit he can be very tiring. He goes to the childminder who had him when he was a baby and he still loves her.
Have the best day possible folks

Grandmabatty Fri 12-Aug-22 08:16:56

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11°. Positively chilly! The sun is blazing and the temperature has to hit 30°. At the moment my bedroom doors and the kitchen door are wide open, letting in cool air. Susan it's good to see you posting. Ashcombe it'll be extra special having your family in the audience.
Yesterday was a gentle day. I pottered outside until it got too warm and came inside. Rinse and repeat. I will do the same today. Have a good day all.

Urmstongran Fri 12-Aug-22 08:10:04

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s very warm already. Bit humid to be honest. The Mediterranean isn’t even visible, it has melded with the wash of the sky.

Gardens till lunch, pool play with the grandchildren who are living their best life, cafe con leche at the garden bar whilst the Boy Wonder has a game of pool with his dad. L’il Miss has a playmate. A pool surrounded by grass is just perfect for these two. What kids don’t like jumping in to have fun?

At lunchtime grandad takes them into Juan’s downstairs (their special time) so today I’m going to stroll with our daughter and son in law towards Arroyo de la Miel, peeling off to head to La Taperia. It’s owned by one of Juan’s brothers. If we ever mention we’ve been, Juan brings a strip of Rennie’s to the table! Daughter & son in law have never been in all these years and are looking forward to the delicious and slightly different tapas there for their lunch. Hmm. I shall have to wear a proper dress!

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Another night of sleeping with the Dyson on, did the job nicely, slept like a log.
DS and GDs came at lunchtime yesterday and we went off to the seaside to get some sea air and cooling breeze.
My appointment arrived for CT scan, it is next Thursday.
Nothing much planned for today.
Have a good day all.

hollysteers Fri 12-Aug-22 08:05:21

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
‘Dress rehearsal’ for gig next week. Would prefer to maybe pop into the sand dunes with a book or just sit in the garden…
Will drop some jumble at charity shop, try not to buy anything and buy some food.
Nice FaceTime yesterday with DD in the south and watched an entertaining film noir film with Alan Ladd last night.
Have a good day and thoughts to all with worries.

Pittcity Fri 12-Aug-22 08:04:29

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Yet another 30+ day. Sitting in the cool garden for breakfast but will soon need to move inside with the fan.
DS crept in at dawn after a late shift so won't surface until the afternoon. DH is off on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition for a few days.
Laundry is today's only exertion for me. Yes Bluesapphire dry in no time.
Keep cool and love to all ? x

BlueSapphire Fri 12-Aug-22 07:53:55

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny ? Northampton. Not much on the cards today, a morning of pottering, may wash the kitchen floor, and then find my small shady spot in the garden to read this afternoon. Finished another book yesterday.

Got my long dresses out yesterday, a quick try on to make sure they still fit, then gave them a quick delicates wash; they were dry in less than half an hour.

Also phoned the newsagent to cancel my papers, and spoke to a neighbour about keeping an eye on the house while I am away. He normally does this for me, for which I am very grateful. I need to drop a spare set of keys over to him, and also the new code for my alarm system in case it should go off and he needs to investigate.

DS also pops by occasionally to put the post through, but at the moment he and family are over in Sweden visiting his partner's family. It's lovely for my DGDs to be with their Swedish cousins (who speak English well). And hopefully they (DGDs) will pick up more Swedish!

Hope we all manage to find a bit of shade today, and have a restful Friday.

Gingster Fri 12-Aug-22 07:51:00

Good morning all and I’m just back from walking little pooch and it was shady and cool. Heaven!

Yesterday eldest gd and I had a very pleasant afternoon painting pottery pieces at Clay Cottage. What a delightful place! Air conditioned , light and airy. You can even have afternoon tea there along with making/painting , glazing and firing your pieces. We’ll certainly go again!

Today we’ll meet up with our Friday friends for lunch and sit out on the patio in the shade. In the winter months, we huddle around the big log fire with blankets round us.

Take care in this heat Ash
Enjoy your busy day GM

Take care everyone ?

Morning all from what promises to be another scorchio day! I was still awake at 3 am so won’t get up until 9 am. Very late for me. My daughter is arriving into Oxford by train around lunchtime. I’ll pick her up and park in the centre. She wants a quick look in Seasalt! I’m always happy to have a peek. I have planned cold chicken and salad today. OH will have to cook the chicken when I’m out. Hopefully I’ll hear from the pharmacist that my medication is ready for collection. I run out of one of them on Sunday. Also, I heard that my Summer Exhibition print, which I’ve had framed, is ready for collection. If it’s really, really hot I’ll wait until next week to collect it.
