What are those habits or behaviours that you can't get rid of for your own good?

I'll start

My toxic trait: I wonder if that food that always gives me a bad stomach will give me a bad stomach today?

Chewbacca Sun 14-Aug-22 18:09:50

Doesn't sound toxic to me Blondiescot, sounds admirable.

Blondiescot Sun 14-Aug-22 17:32:05

My 'toxic' trait according to many on here would probably be sticking up for animals who cannot stick up for themselves.

FC, the rapturous greeting we got from our dog when we picked her up from the kennels yesterday was A fantastic end to our holiday. She is lively, she needs lots of exercise, but we were told yesterday that she is unlikely to grow any bigger, which I’m really pleased about.

FannyCornforth. ??? I used to be indecisive, now I'm not sure. I have wanted a TT since I was about 16 but have never managed to find a good breeder near enough to me and I didn't want to get a puppy where it's first journeys in the car was to a vet where they stick a needle in followed by a long journey home.

VioletSky, I have 3 cats and I adore them but they never run out to meet you with a smile on their face. There is something special about having something that is always so pleased to see you. I am lucky though, for the rest of their traits, my cats like to think they are dogs. They are vocal, affectionate and very cute.

I wouldn’t say I do anything toxic. Do spoil myself sometimes with chocolate or cakes etc, but life is for living and I don’t do it 24/7.

FannyCornforth Sun 14-Aug-22 15:02:11

That is. I give up

FannyCornforth Sun 14-Aug-22 15:01:45

My exam, that it (oh dear, I’ve made a pig’s ear of this…)

Witzend

Procrastination. I have a first class degree in it.

Really Witzend? I never even took mine, I’m that good wink

icanhandthemback Hurray! ?
There’s nothing more exciting than a new puppy!
Tibetan dogs are the best (imho)
My first dog was a Tibetan Spaniel, as was Gracie’s father.
You must keep us informed!

VioletSky Sun 14-Aug-22 13:09:09

Oh my goodness, adorable

I am a cat person, I keep adopting them thinking I will get a friendly lap cat and getting cats that have medical needs or trauma that needs lots of care instead...

Please don't start me thinking I can add a puppy to the mix lol

Oh icanhandthemback, how exciting; he's beautiful! Have you chosen a name for him yet?

Thank you, he was. I should have said that he was my old boy. This is the new Pup coming next week who I haven't got a name for. She is a Tibetan Terrier so about half the size of my old boy. I think I'm too frail for such a big boy these days.

Another here who thoroughly empathises, TerriBull. It’s maddening, isn’t it?!
nanna8, I do that almost daily! It’s a problem if the phone is on silent though. I then have to resort to the Find my Phone app.

DanniRae Sun 14-Aug-22 12:38:02

Oh icanhandthemback how lovely that you are getting a new puppy - I wish you much happiness with your new arrival! And I hope he/she likes yoghurt grin

icanhandthemback Sun 14-Aug-22 12:15:17

DanniRae and MollyGo, the one thing I've missed following the loss of my dog, is putting clean yogurt pots in the bin. It sounds really stupid but that act of handing over the pot to the dog every morning was a great start to my morning. 8 months on, it still jolts me so I have a new puppy coming next week who is going to have such fun with the yogurt pot.

Mollygo Sun 14-Aug-22 11:47:13

Thanks Fanny. She still only gets the pot or the lid to lick. I like natural unflavoured yoghurt, except for prune or rhubarb.

nanna8 Sun 14-Aug-22 11:36:45

The main use for our landline is to ring our mobiles so we know where they are! Seriously. I wouldn’t use the word, ‘toxic’, for this particular topic but I guess that is just semantics.

HousePlantQueen Sun 14-Aug-22 11:28:04

My problem/toxic habit is thinking I have self control. Example; I will buy this family size bag of crisps because it is cheaper than individual bags/less waste etc., and will just decant them into a little bowl when I fancy some. Yeah right. I grab a handful every time I pass the larder. But, I do know that if they are eaten furtively, when nobody sees them the calories, fat and salt don't count.

FannyCornforth Sun 14-Aug-22 11:17:18

Don’t worry! Yogurt is far from bad for dogs.
The woman who I had Gracie from had a strict regime of feeding all of her puppies natural yogurt and boiled eggs.
And I was under strict instructions to follow it for a few weeks. (She was lovely, but a bit scary!)
Gracie still likes yogurt, but she won’t touch a boiled egg for love nor money.
And who can blame her!

Mollygo Sun 14-Aug-22 09:36:16

DanniRae, if only dogs could read. I worried the first time my dog managed to get my empty yogurt pot and went off to lick the contents. I also wish she understood that gnawing stones is bad for her teeth!
There's nearly always someone who has to let you know that what your’re doing is wrong, isn't there?
Oh yes. ??

DanniRae Sun 14-Aug-22 09:20:13

I think I should explain that I might lick the yoghurt pot lid but the dog always gets to lick out the pot after I've finished. To be honest I didn't mention about that incase someone jumped on and said "Dogs should not have yoghurt - it is bad for them!!" There's nearly always someone who has to let you know that what your doing is wrong, isn't there? hmm

VioletSky Sat 13-Aug-22 19:27:54

Only if licking it would harm you.

For example

I will always stuff a far too hot chip in my mouth, thinking I can blow it cool and eat it at the same time, even though the outcome is generally a blister on the roof of my mouth.

Ouch

Chewbacca Sat 13-Aug-22 19:20:59

You should always proffer that to the dog

I'd offer it to the cat FannyC but that really would be toxic! grin

FannyCornforth Sat 13-Aug-22 18:05:07

DanniRae

Does licking the yoghurt lid count?

You should always proffer that to the dog.
