Voicemail - on the way out?

I often get a message that I have new voicemails. My phone says it doesn't do voicemail so I never know what they were about.

I hope not, it’s a check and balance for me if I don’t answer an unknown number on my mobile, if it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail.

Never leave them, never listen to them.
I take the view that if it’s that important they’ll catch me very soon as everyone who knows me I’m never without my phone unless I’m in the shower.

My lovely Dad died 9 years ago and I still have several voice messages from him. We spoke every day on the phone and if he happened to phone when I was out he’d leave a message. Often a couple of mins long ? He’d mention what he’d had for lunch, what the weather was like etc. My now teenage grandchildren were young when he died They loved him to bits and like to listen occasionally to his voice and have a chat about him. I’ve taken an audio copy of the messages so I can’t lose them.

It can be wonderful to hear the voice of someone who is no longer with us.

I have a relative who sometimes sends a voice message on WhatsApp, rather than organise her thoughts into a text, and it's so nice to hear her.

The Hospital Trust I work for unless patients has personalised the answer phone we can't leave a message.
Something to do with Data protection. Plus ours Trust is Unknown Number.
So if we need to speak to the patient, we have to send a letter asking patient to ring us.
