When he was younger I mean.
Although I’m sure some people still think he’s sexy grin

I can never make my mind up about him.

No, he’s not, and never has been, good looking.

But he was in the right place at the right time with his songs, his music, his gravelly voice, his confidence.

His history with all his girlfriends and wives make him seem very sexy, and one can imagine he was fun to be in bed with! Whether say Britt Ekland agrees with that I don’t know, as he seemed to discard his women as and when, with the exception of Rachel Hunter, who I think dumped him. That must have been a massive blow to his ego.

I think now he looks rather like a little old man in his trendy clothes, still with spiky hair, with Penny Lancaster towering over him.

“Do ya think I’m sexy?”

Not anymore really, but you were.

I found rods autobiography very entertaining

Calendar I don't know if you've read Keith Richards' autobiography. He comes across as a really nice chap. Not in a 'Aren't I wonderful way'. He just seems lovely and fair.

Kadinsky surprised to see David Bowie in the list as he was very good looking
The young David Bowie looked awful I thought, not good looking and not even sexy, just weird, unhealthy and skeletal. But he filled out a bit and changed persona and became much more attractive (the blonde hair phase) and how gorgeous he was as Jareth.

Its in the eye of the beholder surely? I was never a fan of his voice or his music and he wa never my "type" so I dont find him attractive but I'm fairly sure a lot of people do .
I was a big Cat Stevens fan in my teens he was certainly good looking ,and talented .Or not if he wasn't your type!

Nooooooo

Paddyanne54 - Cat Stevens was lovely. My DM said that if she died and went to Heaven and Jesus looked like Cat Stevens, she’d be quite happy.

Not good looking in a conventional way but then overly handsome men aren't always the most attractive all round.I like personality and a sense of humour and think Rod has that.I enjoyed his autobiography far more than I expected and think the way he so obviously close to all his children speaks volumes.

David Bowie looked so much better after having his teeth fixed.

Pammie1 Tue 16-Aug-22 15:27:15

I don’t think he’s traditionally good looking but I do think he’s attractive - he’s charming and likeable. It’s about his dress sense and the way he carries himself too.

I know the name but I had to Google to see what he looks like. The answer is definitely NO.

Same here, Callistemon, probably at The Marquee Club in London, back in the day!

Thank goodness someone else on here agrees!
Long John Baldry was Elton John's inspiration too.

Kate1949 Tue 16-Aug-22 17:12:19

On one occasion when my sisters went to see Rod, Long John Baldry was the support. The fans were chanting 'We want Rod' throughout his performance. They said it was very sad as I believe John discovered Rod busking at a railway station.

Callistemon21 Tue 16-Aug-22 17:13:35

?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Aug-22 17:56:05

Yes he started life as a busker I think.

LauraNorderr Tue 16-Aug-22 18:05:53

Ooh la la
He wears it well
Have I told him lately that I love him
Do I think he’s sexy
Forever young
Some guys have all the luck
I don’t want to talk about it
Tonight’s the night

Not good looking but attractive, great songs and a certain sex appeal imo

I saw Long John Baldry, Rod Stewart and Elton John all performing together in Derby in 1967/8. I didn't really realise how iconic they all were.

Kate1949 Tue 16-Aug-22 22:15:28

Lucky you kitty smile

I saw Long John Baldry with Rod Stewart in the 1960s (didn't notice Rod at all) but didn't see Elton John until a few years ago. Or perhaps I didn't notice him either!

The fun sponges are certainly out on this thread.
Those exempt know who you are ?

Fleurpepper Wed 17-Aug-22 08:31:45

what's a 'fun sponge?

Fleurpepper Wed 17-Aug-22 08:47:37

I mean, I can guess. But I have re-read the OP, was it meant to be a 'fun' question Kandinsky?

Maggiemaybe Wed 17-Aug-22 09:03:59

He was never really my type, but I’ve seen him twice in recent years and he came over as a great showman and a genuinely nice bloke. Not sad at all, though old in the scheme of things, yes of course (and aren’t we all?). He even allowed fans to get on the stage while he was performing to have photos taken with him. And whatever his past love life, his love of and pride in his family just shone through.

I was sorry to hear he performed badly at the Jubilee recently, though I didn’t see it myself.
