When he was younger I mean.
Although I’m sure some people still think he’s sexy grin

I can never make my mind up about him.

Paddyanne54 - Cat Stevens was lovely. My DM said that if she died and went to Heaven and Jesus looked like Cat Stevens, she’d be quite happy.

BlueBelle Tue 16-Aug-22 15:07:56

Nooooooo

paddyann54 Tue 16-Aug-22 14:50:47

Its in the eye of the beholder surely? I was never a fan of his voice or his music and he wa never my "type" so I dont find him attractive but I'm fairly sure a lot of people do .
I was a big Cat Stevens fan in my teens he was certainly good looking ,and talented .Or not if he wasn't your type!

Kadinsky surprised to see David Bowie in the list as he was very good looking
The young David Bowie looked awful I thought, not good looking and not even sexy, just weird, unhealthy and skeletal. But he filled out a bit and changed persona and became much more attractive (the blonde hair phase) and how gorgeous he was as Jareth.

Calendar I don't know if you've read Keith Richards' autobiography. He comes across as a really nice chap. Not in a 'Aren't I wonderful way'. He just seems lovely and fair.

No, he’s not, and never has been, good looking.

But he was in the right place at the right time with his songs, his music, his gravelly voice, his confidence.

His history with all his girlfriends and wives make him seem very sexy, and one can imagine he was fun to be in bed with! Whether say Britt Ekland agrees with that I don’t know, as he seemed to discard his women as and when, with the exception of Rachel Hunter, who I think dumped him. That must have been a massive blow to his ego.

I think now he looks rather like a little old man in his trendy clothes, still with spiky hair, with Penny Lancaster towering over him.

“Do ya think I’m sexy?”

Not anymore really, but you were.

I found rods autobiography very entertaining

Not handsome but bucketfuls of charisma which can be more attractive than classic good looks I think. He’s certainly stood the test of time. All round nice bloke.

Elrel Tue 16-Aug-22 14:18:45

Meatloaf is another, wonderful voice and delivery, mesmerising when seen live, yet not considered ‘good looking’. Who cares when he and Steinman can craft such enduring classic albums!

Sparklefizz - ah, yes, Elvis… The first film, Love Me Tender in bw, was a milestone of my teen years!

I agree TerriBull about Keith Richard.

I watched those recent documentaries about The Rolling Stones, and thought how articulate, normal, quite humble and likeable they all seemed.

mayisay Tue 16-Aug-22 13:50:17

Same here, Callistemon, probably at The Marquee Club in London, back in the day!

pandapatch Tue 16-Aug-22 13:41:38

Not what most people mean by good looking, but has charisma and boyish charm, so would say he is attractive

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 16-Aug-22 13:21:26

Love his voice and songs but he was never remotely good looking in my book. Bryan Ferry and David Essex have been mentioned - now you’re talking!

TerriBull Tue 16-Aug-22 13:16:49

I liked him once when he fronted The Faces. Friends and I lost almost a day of our life queuing for tickets right around the block in Finsbury Park at what was once The Rainbow Theatre. Then, coupled with a gravelly voice, he was Rod the Mod, trademark hair and flamboyant style yes he had a sex appeal but that's long gone, he was never conventionally good looking. Nevertheless he certainly had a stage presence and did sing some great songs. As he's aged I just see a granddad's face still wearing what he might have pranced about the stage in then, except he seems to have grown smaller somewhat, I can't put my finger on whether the unchanging hair emphasises his shrunken stature. I think he looks like one of the Chuckle Brothers now. I thought the late David Bowie aged better looks wise and when I saw him interviewed he was actually a good raconteur, as is Keith Richard, who probably hasn't aged well but nevertheless comes across as very likeable in a self deprecating, almost humble way. Rod Stewart has a full of himself demeanour or did when I last saw him interviewed. Penny Lancaster has on occasions over shared, Unfortunate! " eer no one cares Penny about the sex life of you and your septuagenarian" shock With that in mind I do my best to avoid him these days if he's on anything.

Obviously a lot of the above named had their fame & wealth to get lots of women ( although surprised to see David Bowie in the list as he was very good looking I thought? ) but even ordinary men who aren’t blessed with good looks can have ‘sex appeal’ & get lots of partners.
Not so sure it works with women as we’re judged so much more on our looks alone. ( sadly )

HeavenLeigh Tue 16-Aug-22 12:44:45

Always loved his songs , but definitely not good looking to me, I do like him though

Sparklefizz Tue 16-Aug-22 12:41:51

No, definitely not good looking and never thought he was sexy, whereas Elvis ......... !!!!!

I would add Freddie Mercury to that list, along with Ray Davies, Roger Daltry and David Bowie. There are many more too.

HowVeryDareYou Tue 16-Aug-22 11:10:28

I wouldn't say he's ever been good-looking, but he's had a certain sex appeal. Other men who have had the same appeal without being handsome:

Mick Jagger
Errol Brown (Hot Chocolate)
Joe Cocker

VB000 Tue 16-Aug-22 10:05:13

Great charisma/stage presence/sex appeal, good hair but a big nose - as noted already, probably wouldn't look at him twice in the street.... but amazing songs over the years.

Chestnut Tue 16-Aug-22 09:51:06

No he's not and never was good looking. Now he's just a sad, old man who is scared of being old.

Never seen him looking sad, in fact quite the opposite. I'm assuming you mean that his clothes indicate he's 'scared of being old' but he has always been a flamboyant dresser so why should that change now?

Callistemon21 Tue 16-Aug-22 09:48:56

Id rather spend an hour with Rod than some others mentioned above eg Bryan Ferry or Ronnie Wood.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 16-Aug-22 09:48:08

No no no

hollysteers Tue 16-Aug-22 09:47:38

However he has a wonderful train set!

hollysteers Tue 16-Aug-22 09:46:40

No,the voice of someone with acute bronchitis and I agree with my sister “I wouldn’t pick him up on a shovel”?
