Rain! If you’re in the SE, have you had any?

We had a fair bit last night in outer SW London - not nearly enough of course, but proper rain for maybe half an hour, and it’s blissfully cool this morning - at least compared to the oven-like temps recently.
More please! ?

Had a heavy downpour a couple of hours ago which lasted about 20 minutes. The sun's shining and very humid. Northamptonshire.

Just got in from my shopping trip at 1.30 and the skies opened - a real downpour with thunder and lightning. It lasted about 40 minutes and was lovely!
Back to sunshine now, though nothing like as hot and more rain coming.
Grandma70s I'm in Bedfordshire so hope your brother has the same sort of rain as we have had soon.

My brother in Herts says that although the weather news says it’s been raining there, they haven’t seen a drop.

A friend and I had lunch, outside, in Oxford today. A light sprinkling of rain, but not enough to send us indoors. Later, as I walked home I needed to use my brolly, but only because I was just wearing a light summer dress. There was a huge hole in the road in Oxford; burst water main. That was providing plenty of water!! But unfortunately it was all going to waste. shock

We had heavy rain for 3 hours this morning in Surrey. My daughters left early lunchtime for 3 days camping with granddaughters and 2 school friends. How unlucky were they after so much dry weather , they are predicted more rain for at least part of tomorrow. Campsite is only 40 minutes drive away so weather will be the same I think. Glad I’ll still be in a real bed tonight! My camping days are well over!

Wow! first rain here in N.,Cambs., for weeks,(feels like months!). A shower at 1:40 for 20 minutes. Now another 20minutes of heavier rain,(at 2:45). Still feels very warm & humid.
Who'd have thought I could get so obsessed with rain/weather.......confused

Interested what it's doing in N.W. Norfolk? Germanshepherdsmum Our plot on the coast could do with watering.

We had quite heavy rain in NW Kent about an hour ago.

Sar53 Tue 16-Aug-22 14:06:14

I'm by the sea in South Essex and we had quite a downpour about an hour ago but the sun is out now and the ground almost dry again.

Blinko Tue 16-Aug-22 14:01:55

None so far here in West Midlands. We’ve just installed water butts. Bring it on!

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 16-Aug-22 13:51:28

Not a drop in north Norfolk. It was promised yesterday - nothing. No sign of it today either. Now it’s promised tomorrow. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Thank you. Still in Warwickshire just now. Dry, cloudy but warm.

A little rain here in Derbyshire yesterday afternoon. No rain as yer today. Our silver birch tree really needs a soak. Half of its leaves have already fallen!

AskAlice Tue 16-Aug-22 13:02:59

Such, not suck!!

AskAlice Tue 16-Aug-22 13:02:40

East Herts, rain overnight and now raining steadily. Suck a relief, my tortoise was out in it earlier on and enjoying the cooler weather!

Littleannie Tue 16-Aug-22 13:01:35

Nothing here in Cheshire, and none forecast in the foreseeable future. Plants in garden dying, despite our best efforts with used kitchen water etc. We are not using the hose even with no ban here yet, as we don't think it's fair.

Grandyma Tue 16-Aug-22 12:57:45

Hertfordshire, quite heavy at times on and off since yesterday afternoon, much cooler too thankfully ?

Auntieflo Tue 16-Aug-22 12:49:56

It's raining here in Berks. Earlier we had a short shower. Now it is heavier. Hope it continues.

Pittcity Tue 16-Aug-22 12:48:50

North Essex. Had a couple of minutes yesterday and it's just started with light rain.
21° but feels warm and humid. Looking forward to a storm!

Delila Tue 16-Aug-22 12:48:28

Dorset, woke up to rain which continued gentle and steady, as in Somerset, until now. The sun is breaking through here now. Very humid.

silverlining48 Tue 16-Aug-22 12:45:32

Been raining here fir a while Kent/London borders.

LtEve Tue 16-Aug-22 12:42:54

North east Hampshire, approx an hours steady but not heavy rain. Just sitting in the bus stop going out for lunch and it’s stopped.

karmalady Tue 16-Aug-22 12:08:29

somerset, gentle rain for several hours so far. Like april rain, gently hitting the ground. Perfect and I hope it lasts for days, much needed

TerriBull Tue 16-Aug-22 12:07:52

Sussex/Surrey borders, its rained this morning, it looks as if it's clearing up now, I think it's going to stop pm. Nevertheless it's welcome as is the drop in temperature a cool 18 degrees climbing to a comfortable early 20s later. Good riddance to the mid 30s, it was just too uncomfortable. We have friends from Scotland staying with us this week it was raining there as they left, I'd have liked the sun to stay out whilst they are with us but without the intense heat low to mid 20s will do. Husband and friend have a game of golf booked for tomorrow forecast suggests it's going to p**s down on them right around their start time sad Can't be helped ground is rock hard desperate for moisture. Thursday and Friday look more promising.

Went to feed DD’s cats an hour ago 5 miles away. Torrential down pour on the way home . I could hardly see to drive. Rain running down the street etc. Get back here…not a drop. But we are promised some in 15 minutes. I am not holding my breath.
