Good morning Mick, morning all from cool but dry South Lanarkshire.

It’s back to school day here. DD’s eldest is starting high school and DS’s eldest is starting primary so there’s lots of excitement and nerves. We’re going to DD’s this afternoon to hear all about the new teachers from the younger ones and find out how DGD1 got on at her new school.

Happy holidays to the travellers, wishing you a smooth journey.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning, as kitty says it has rained!

DH has audiology appointment while I wait in for Ocado then meeting with friends.

Best wishes to our travellers and kitty although you did have 5 children so had plenty of practice! ?
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Nannagarra Wed 17-Aug-22 08:25:18

Good morning from breezy Sefton by the sea. The air is cool and wonderfully refreshing.
Picking up our DGD in an hour’s time. Swimming, swings and slides will occupy us with, of course, a snack to fortify.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from Shropshire. We have had rain overnight??

The dentist visit went well yesterday. No problems found, not sure who was more surprised, me or the dentist! As we were in Shrewsbury we decided to go for a walk at Attingham Park which was as lovely as ever.

Today like harri I will be doing battle with the hospital appointments department but on behalf of my mum.Her appointment has now been changed for a third time and to a date and time we will be unable to take her.

Safe travels to Pants and Blue and a ?? from me to be added to those for Grandmafrench and our crumpet queen.

Hope you start to feel better soon Mary and thoughts to kitty, Christie’s and gingsters daughters?

Have a good day all??

Good morning from overcast Llandudno. It was a very blustery night that kept me awake. We’d been for a drink last night ( The Cottage Loaf) and being tired after travelling deciding to return early. Good job we did as there was torrential rain.

I think we may have a run to Conway this morning.

Safe travels pantglas and bluesapphire

I had a similiar experience * harrigran* when the consultant rang earlier than I was told and I was having my lunch in another room to my phone before the allotted time. I protested this to be reinstated. Hope you can sort it.
Will catch up with rest of threads later. Have to get off to breakfast that finishes at 9.30.

Take care.

Good morning from a damp and dull Oxfordshire we had a lot of quite heavy rain and the garden has perked up no end.
Chimney swept and a bird proof cowl fitted, only one nest that the jackdaws must have reused over the years which was a relief, when we moved in the whole chimney was stuffed with twigs and skeletons. They have started to use next doors chimney, I must tell him before he switches his boiler on for his central heating.
We were told yesterday that both family funerals are to be held in the middle of our holidays, so we will have to go and see the families to apologise for our no show, I doubt we will be missed as the funerals will attract a lot of friends, as well as extended families, we will visit again when we return at the send of September.
Dog sitting again today, will be a bit different walking in the rain today (it’s just started raining again ) but it’s still fairly warm.
Hope all who are travelling have an easy trip, and all who aren’t so chipper today start to feel better.

hollysteers Wed 17-Aug-22 09:10:07

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Really enjoyed singing yesterday and it went well, the organiser booked us immediately afterwards for August, so need a new set for that.
I wish my cat didn’t jump on me at unearthly hours as my sleep is fitful at best. I can only sleep with the radio on and am listening to an audible book, but dropping off to sleep means I have to keep going back to find out my place.
House stuff today and the car is being serviced tomorrow for the first time in fourteen years.
Thoughts to GNs with DDs having treatment and anyone with troubles.

hollysteers Wed 17-Aug-22 09:10:32

For November?

Grandmabatty Wed 17-Aug-22 09:16:21

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently a cool 11° and cloudy. I'm later to get moving today. Happy holidays to the intrepid travellers, Pantsglas and BlueSaphire. That was good news Susan. I'm back at the dentist tomorrow for work on my broken tooth.
Today I'm going to my friend's house for lunch. Mum phoned to cancel my visit to her as she's going back to bed. Dgs1 returned to nursery this morning. Dd sent a photo of a beaming boy. He loves the nursery and has missed it over the summer. I'll catch up with them later or tomorrow. Have a good day all

Gingster Wed 17-Aug-22 09:20:05

Good morning all and it’s lovely and cool.
Dh has gone fishing . I hope the storms don’t appear while he’s out there ?.

Today eldest gd will pop in for a quick catch-up. She’s taking her little sis out for the day. They get on well and love being together. (6 yrs and 20yrs). They miss each other when eldest is at Uni.

I might walk up to town and buy my skate wings from the market. Haven’t had them for a few weeks so it will be a treat.

Good luck to all the littlies going back to school in Scotland. Ours don’t go back for another couple of weeks. I’m sure Dolly will be fine Marydoll. They go through these little phases, don’t they! ❤️

I hope you all have a good day ?

mrshat Wed 17-Aug-22 09:30:10

Good morning all from the Herts/Bucks border. Rain all around us last night but still nothing here. I'm not usually on my computer this early, normally I catch up in the evening, so thought I would just say 'hello' again and wish everyone well with health issues, travels and family related situations. Keep strong and as positive as you can. flowers

luluaugust Wed 17-Aug-22 10:02:57

Good morning from an undecided W Kent. Off to see friend for a chat and then lunch with DD2 and GC. Teenage GD wants her hair cut, may keep out of that one.
Keep plodding on everyone.

Jaxjacky Wed 17-Aug-22 10:10:52

What a relief Susan56 I totally understand you trepidation, otherwise known as total fear!
Well done hollysteers practice paid off, you must be chuffed.

Blossoming Wed 17-Aug-22 10:12:44

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s a beautiful sunny day in this corner of Lancashire, with a few white clouds scudding about. Our breeze has returned, it’s still warm at 16°C and deliciously fresh air. It’s looking like we won’t have any rain until tomorrow, though that may change. I have the Met Office app on refresh nowadays!

Today’s plan is housework, usual exercises and Gaelic studies. I didn’t have a very good night as my back is playing up, so I will adapt my activity to soothe that.

Safe travels BlueSapphire and Pantglas, enjoy your holidays and remember me to GrandmaFrench smile

Have the best day possible all ???

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 17-Aug-22 10:18:24

Good morning all from cloudy Harrogate
Oops slept in again. The difference that procedure I had and my bamboo sheets!
Bon voyage to the travellers.
I’m on the bus just now to Knaresborough market. May meet DD and DGD. Unbeknown to DH, I’m hoping to try an upmarket coffee shop, and he’s paying!
This afternoon we have the blind man (Hope he isn’t) measuring up for new blinds.
Have the best day possible folks

Blossoming Wed 17-Aug-22 10:22:32

Well done Hollysteers, you must all have felt so good after all the practice. I have the same audiobook problem grin

Kalu Wed 17-Aug-22 10:27:53

Good morning all from Glasgow, chilly morning here but dry.

Back to school for our GDs too. 2ndyr for our youngest and 6thyr for the eldest. DD1 is currently having a relaxing coffee here with me since dropping the girls off.
Good luck to to all pupils starting a new year back at school, especially those starting secondary school which can be quite daunting until they find their way around.
I’m sure Dollie will settle back ok Marydoll and she will be full of chat with news from her friends after school.
What a hopeless system which is causing you more stress harrigran. Hoping you get news of an appointment soon.
Healing thoughts for your DDs, kitty,Chrissie and Gingster
Bon voyage Pants and BlueSapphire.

Best wishes for a good day to all.

Grandmafrench Wed 17-Aug-22 10:52:52

Good Morning GMers and especially pantglas grandmattie beechnut brook urmston susan and dear grannyS from the Sunny South ?? How simply lovely to get good wishes. Waves and hugs are returned to all of you. ?

Blame pants for too much holiday excitement in mentioning me today, but it does give me a reason to call in and greet you all after so long. She does it to annoy, of course, threatening aircraft acrobatics over my bit of coastline because she knows how much I hate to fly. How much? Well I don’t fly any more now, so ‘that much’ ?.

How thrilled am I to be mentioned in the dispatches this morning. Have to admit I think of you all a lot and am probably up to date with news since I try to look in regularly.

mattie and grannyS, hope you know I’m lost in admiration at your bravery and acceptance and how you still think of everyone before yourselves. No words just fond wishes and hope for the new lives in which you find yourselves. beechnut and brook - keep posting please. I hope the recent change in the weather hasn’t caused you problems. urms such good (and experienced) advice for harri. So important you push yourself forward, harri. Your health, your worries, your life, whatever their ‘rules’ appear to be. Good luck with your tests. susan - dentist appointments ?? and I almost mailed you. Another one with the horrors here. Mine isn’t cowardice exactly, just terrible worries about constant choking! Most important you don’t act brave - let it all out and leave the dentist in no doubt that you’re really anxious. Doctor told me once, when as an embarrassed teen after an injection (I crashed to the floor via his desk and broke my nose as I fainted ) Drama? Me? He said, please, always tell a health professional how you feel. Always. You suffer more in silence, otherwise…….and frighten us to death in the process!
Then I thought I might make you feel worse, Susan. However what a good start - just a check up then and no work. Just what you wanted to hear.

urms dear, #lazygran-ning your days in Spain. Hope it’s fun, cos it must be HOT. Have to say this year has been quite silly here. We haven’t seen a grey day (or rain) since early June.
Sunshine every day is wonderful. 300 odd days of sunbeams is very uplifting. But, we rely on the strong winds to keep the air moving and to give relief from the heat. This year, no wind.
Heat, absolutely scorching. Too hot to walk at any time of day, or night. Too hot to stay in the pool of 32 degrees, above water. Without air conditioning grandmafrench would be grandmafrenchfried by now.

Day after day of 35 degrees in the shade, reaching 40+ some days, and opening my front door before bed to feel, yes, 35 degrees still, has been a bit of a trial. And where to go? All is hot, weather is mad everywhere. So it has been a worry.
We’ve had our own lockdown again, house, car, shop, car, house. But mostly house. Last night the heavens opened, the thunder and lightning on and off has lifted the air somewhat. Today is cooler with more storms promised this afternoon and through the night.
Then 15 day forecast of sun again.
Still, we have water, we have home comforts, we have our friends and our health and we always look forward to winter because it’s wonderful. So lots to be happy about.
Take care of yourselves, all. Stay positive in this mad world, keep safe and keep posting and entertaining the masses!
And if you’re reading EllanVannin, my love to you and yours!

Chrissielou Wed 17-Aug-22 10:58:26

A very late appearance from me today, its a chilly grey damp morning here in West Oxfordshire.
Such kind messages I received, thank you too Marydoll I really appreciate such thoughtfulness. DD1 came home late yesterday, pumped full of strong antibiotics and fluids. No real answer but certainly chemo related.
Our naughty dog took himself off over the fields this morning, we were whistling and calling him he eventually finished his little jaunt and came running back, pheasants fluttering in all directions. angry
Much cooler today, but hopefully more sunshine to come in the next few days.

Blossoming Wed 17-Aug-22 11:03:40

How lovely to hear from you Grandmafrench, I often think of you and EV and wonder how you’re doing ?

Auntieflo Wed 17-Aug-22 11:33:28

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. Actually made it before midday. I thought our lovely cleaner was due this morning, but Covid has put our schedules all out of kilter, so she is coming next week. So, we have done a quick clean round upstairs and down, and are having a coffee to recover. How dirty the window cills are when the windows are left open for days. I am so glad that it is so much cooler and we can move without melting.
Nice to see GrandmaFrench posting and mention of EV and her crumpets.
Chrissielou much love and best wishes to your DD and also to Ginster DD, undergoing their treatment.
Hugs to Marydoll and hope she feels a bit better today. The ice cream sounds wonderful and must be good for your throat.
Your DD will soon have their new home full, as you slowly return it all to them ?
We must search around for some replacement double glazed windows, as a couple of them have 'blown'.
Enjoy your cruise BlueSapphire, and anyone else with a holiday coming up.
Have a good day one and all.

Mapleleaf Wed 17-Aug-22 11:44:11

Good morning all,

Been up and about ages, but been busy shopping and then putting it all away. Every trip to the supermarket sees price increases of 10p here, 15p there - impossible to set an accurate weekly budget.

We too, had rain in our part of South Yorkshire from about 7pm and through into the early hours, but unlike Greyduster, no thunderstorms or torrential rain - just steady rain. It’s looking grey again, so perhaps we’ll have some more.

Enjoy your cruise, BlueSapphire.

I will go back and read all the posts properly now.

Enjoy your day and anyone else on their travels, have a lovely time.

Grandmafrench Wed 17-Aug-22 12:11:37

Uncomplaining AuntieFlo and Blossoming, cleanliness might be next to godliness but please save your energy for getting stronger, keeping well and having fun! You’re a lesson to us all in good humour and grit! Have a good day - and hopes and hugs across the miles to you both xx

Georgesgran Wed 17-Aug-22 12:40:48

Just reading through and saw Grandmafrench had popped up to say Bonjour! Hi from me too.
I’ve been very lethargic this week, lurking, but nothing much to say for myself.
Sorry to hear Harri is being messed about. Hope Mary is keeping MrDoll on his toes and Chrissie’s DD gets some good news soon.
Holly do you use your car? Can’t believe you’ve not had it serviced for 14 years!! Do you MOT it, or has it been laid up?

Sorry I’m late to the ? party - let’s try and enjoy what’s left of the day.

Georgesgran Wed 17-Aug-22 12:46:34

Auntieflo - I just go back to the supplier (a local company) and they come out, measure up and replace. Out of guarantee now so I have to pay. They often ‘go’ in the conservatory as it gets very hot and very cold - it’s no reflection of the product. All the units in the house are sound after many years.
