We are working on Renovating an old cottage in Bulgaria with little money smile We went to help our daughter in Canada for 18 months looking after two active young uns.. Now we are building our dream. People think its weird we would do this at our age but to be honest it has made us have a goal each day - it has also helped us mentally and physically as we work the overgrown gardens and plan the house out. If there is interest in our progress i can post photos of our journey

Isn’t it great that practically every reply on here to’Nanz* has been enthusiastic and encouraging?
We have to do the things in life which bring us joy while we can, don’t we?
Life has a nasty habit of throwing hand grenades at us.
I thought it was a holiday home you were renovating but I see you will be living there.
I wonder if you sold your home in the UK ? I’m guessing so as you mentioned having lived in Canada for a while.
I too would love to see the photos when you get a chance.

Good for you. Having a project will keep you going.Age is a number. Retirement doesn’t mean to give up life but a new beginning. I was doing all my own decorating and do it yourself jobs until I was 82 and only had to give up gardening when I was 93 because of arthritis.

You are very lucky. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us. I am dreaming now ... Wish I could do it too. I also watch and love Help we bought a village.

Please don’t let age hinder ambition. With age comes experience.
If we don’t follow our dreams now, it will not happen for us.
Live your dreams and a little each day will get you there.
I too would like an update.
Sending you love and joy xx

Wow sounds wonderful. Please try to learn the language- you can miss so much if someone has to translate everything. I'm looking forward to your blog, good luck to you both.

Wow! Definitely sounds exciting. Have you got residency rights given you can only stay 90 days out of 180 as UK no longer allowed longer since Brexit? I assume you have health insurance as EHIC only valid until it expires. Good luck!
