My late husband (when younger) looked like Elvis. I recently went to see the Elvis movie with my son and daughter. My daughter came out commenting that she could see the resemblance that I had talked about.

My DS looked like Hugh Grant at the time that 4 weddings and a funeral came out. When we moved and he started a new college cours he was asked to stand up and introduce himself. The teacher commented that he looked just like Hugh Grant and DS piped up 'No, Hugh Grant looks like me actually'!

When I was about 17 I looked a lot like Cathy MacGowan. No longer, though!

Some years ago, I was fuelling up the car and a woman asked me if I was Brenda Blethyn.

I look and speak a bit like Joanna Lumley and when my husband was younger, he looked like Michael Caine.

I remember someone telling me as a child that I looked like Princess Anne (a huge compliment in those deferential times). I was very flattered and begged my mother to get me a kilt to enhance the likeness. We lived in a tropical country at the time so, needless to say, she didn’t.

As a young teenager I was constantly being told I looked like Hayley Mills.

When i was a teenager a lot of people told me I looked like Liza Minelli, I look more like a wrinkled prune now lol

My sister resembled Julie Walters, a close friend (dead at 37?) was the absolute spit of Bamber Gascoigne and I apparently look like Jane MacDonald. I hear it a lot and a friend went along with it when on holiday and the people on the next table remarked on it. She stood up and said
“What would you like to drink Jane?”?
I don’t sound like her, but I do like a nice pie…

When I was younger my friend's mum said I was a dead ringer for Marain Faithfull, no-one else did though. But when I used to work in photographic production a colleague from the weddings section asked if I enjoyed the wedding at the weekend. I hadn't been to a wedding so she showed me the photos. If I hadn't known I hadn't been even I would have thought it was me right down to the same hairstyle and glasses!

I used to be told I looked like Anouk Aimee

From my late teens various random people - eg people in the street, shop assistant, taxi driver, relatives of friends and so on - told me I looked like Bette Davis. I never saw it myself, and unfortunately no one has told me that since I turned 50 (all too long ago)!

My hubby looks like Gene Pitney.

I forgot my Grandad: he was mistaken for Benjamin Britten once at Lords. Having seen photos of the composer I can confirm that they did look very alike. Both long gone now though.

My husband bore a passing resemblance to Mel Smith & a friend looked very like Princess Diana. Sadly neither of those celebrities are still with us, so their chances of earning £££s as lookalikes has gone with them. DS1 looks like Ed Sheeran, but without the tattoos

As a teenager, I was told I looked like Julie Felix, a folk singer on The Frost Report in the Sixties. We both had long, dark straight hair.

Later, I had short, permed hair which apparently made me resemble Joan Collins!

Mishy Fri 26-Aug-22 11:35:35

I've been mistaken for Cilla Black a number of times and DH looks like John Major and found it difficult to travel on the tube during his premiership.

Twopence Fri 26-Aug-22 11:34:09

Late FIL looked like Rex Harrison.

Annaram1 Fri 26-Aug-22 11:32:08

I used to look like Julie Christie as she was in Dr. Zhivago. Sadly not now.

pen50 Fri 26-Aug-22 11:31:51

20 years ago, I was mistaken - by a London taxi driver - for Kate O'Mara. Apart from the fact that she was born 17 years before me, it was tolerably good for the soul...

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 26-Aug-22 11:31:05

Apparently I used to look like the singer Melanie.

f77ms Fri 26-Aug-22 11:26:42

My x looked like Cat Stevens as a young man , complete with fab wavy black locks . I look like Pauline Collins apparently but I can't see it .

JdotJ Fri 26-Aug-22 11:23:49

A lady I used to work with looked exactly like Cliff Richard, but with slightly longer hair !

bluebird243 Thu 25-Aug-22 10:36:48

In past years my half sister looked a double of Pam Shriver [US tennis player]. Not so much these days though.

biglouis Thu 25-Aug-22 00:11:54

When in my late teens I was told I looked like Princess Margaret

What a compliment! Margaret was beautiful as a young woman - like a film star in those wonderful portraits Cecil beaton took of her.
