Here on the Suffolk Norfolk border we had huge thunderstorms during the night and must be the whole of August's rainfall in one night. lots of flooded roads though. But lovely to have fresh air at last.

Pouring here in Bedfordshire, which is lovely. Stuck my head out of the window, and the smell is wonderful.

But typically, it has come on the one day it was needed to be dry! My son's friend, his wife and baby are visiting from Scotland, and they had planned a day out at Whipsnade Zoo. Time for a re-think.

You should live in this green and verdant corner. We have had rain on and off for the last three weeks and only had the hose pipe out once all summer, we don't have a ban.
DH is hoping to hit the high fells today but unfortunately very low cloud.

We have had heavy rain and thunder since about 6 this morning. Wonderful! Every time the forecast showed rain in our area in the last few weeks it somehow missed us.

Commiserations Zonne. I hope it soon stops wherever you are.

I’m in a tent with three young children. It’s poured all night and still is. I am not happy about it!

We have had a few days of rain but the grass on the green near us is still brown. It’s started to feel like autumn with trees just turning and a slight nip in air.

You’ve echoed my thoughts on waking this morning tanith probably 7 weeks or more since I’ve heard that noise. That was at 6:30 and it’s still going, garden is lapping it up, water butt is getting topped up and my car’s getting a wash!

We had about a centimetre of drizzle around 6am in my part of Oxfordshire. Nothing since.

Same here tanith and the non stop lightning and thunder was amazing!

I was woken twice in the early hours by torrential rain and it’s still raining heavily now it’s lovely lying with the windows wide open listening to rainfall.

Are you sure your neighbours weren't out doing a sneaky early morning watering of their garden, and accidentally sprayed your windows?
Only joking. grin

I wish we could get some of that rain.
This year is reminding me of Jean de Florette. where the rains just won't come, and even when rain looks absolutely certain on the forecast, it is skirting around us. That has happened again this week!

We drove from Oxford to Cornwall yesterday, we left blue skies and sun and encountered so much rain it was difficult to see ahead of us.

But how green is Devon and Cornwall! No brown fields, just lush green grass.

Sunny here today though, hopefully a dry journey home.
