I don’t read the articles but see the headlines, the poor couple must be seriously damaged by the constant attention and criticism they are receiving.

I’m not a fan but enough is enough surely!

Anniebach Thu 01-Sept-22 15:15:03

She lies, and lies, and lies.

I was referencing the precise date. It was a long time ago.

I only read the crash date was approaching on the 30th.

By the news, 1 day prior.

I'd imagine Harry had told Meghan his thoughts on his mums death, but I'd not imagine a date fixed in Meghan's mind.

Perhaps I'm wrong, and people have calendars in their heads?

I certainly knew it was the 25th anniversary on 31st August and no-one had to tell me that. I'm sure Meghan is far more aware of the royal calendar than I am!

Chestnut Thu 01-Sept-22 15:12:01

Some here are very naïve to think that Meghan does not realise what she is doing. She is a very intelligent woman and very media savvy, and is fully aware of the royal calendar. There have been numerous occasions in the past where she has released something to coincide with a royal event. Even the Oprah interview went out shortly before the DofE died. How could anyone be so cruel as to say all those dreadful things while the Queen was going through that.

Perhaps as she lives with Harry he may have mentioned it

Once or twice

I imagine Meghan has no recollection of when Dianna died. Diana's sons appear to have not memorialized the anniversary, how would Meghan know?

Those who knew Meghan as a child have verified that she was fascinated by Diana, idolised her and was inspired by her compassion and humanitarian work which she tried to emulate. She apparently felt her death very keenly and cried when she saw footage of the funeral.

According to press reports from various sources.

Smileless2012 Thu 01-Sept-22 14:59:30

I doubt that Norah and as Harry often refers to his mother and the way in which she was hounded to her death by the press in public, I should think he also discusses it with his wife,

Spotify, not Meghan chose the date of the podcast release.

The Cut, not Meghan, chose the date of the release of the article.

I have already given you the definition of the word optics.

You people are simply ridiculous in wanting Meghan to be the bad guy so badly that you think she has enough power to dictate what large corporations do.

Everyone needs a villain I suppose.

Anniebach Thu 01-Sept-22 14:32:45

Perhaps Harry hasn’t told her when his mother died ! ! ! !

eazybee Thu 01-Sept-22 14:09:45

There have been low-key articles in the press about Diana for the past two weeks; the release of the podcast was to ensure discussions would be current and coincide with the time of the anniversary.
In response to Meghan's comment: "I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive." this surely reflects on her attitude towards her father and family. But I haven't heard the podcast so I am only aware of what has been quoted on here.
I expect Harry is familiar with the royal engagements in Britain as he still occasionally attends some functions.

Smileless2012 Thu 01-Sept-22 13:54:08

I was referring to the Cut magazine article that was published on the 29th, 2 days before the 25th anniversary of Diana's death.

Summerlove Thu 01-Sept-22 13:52:58

Glorianny

The podcast was released on Tuesday 23rd. Diana died on 31st. How on earth does that make it the anniversary??

Because it was the same month.

Obviously wink

Summerlove Thu 01-Sept-22 13:51:28

The royal diary is finalised months in advance and some of them are foregone conclusions.

You think people still give her a copy??

Galaxy Thu 01-Sept-22 13:34:18

Yes I am in both the charity and local government sector and I have heard it a fair bit.

Smileless2012 Thu 01-Sept-22 13:26:31

How could she not have known the date of the 25th anniversary of Diana's death?

NotSpaghetti Thu 01-Sept-22 13:24:30

Callistemon21 - I have heard "optics" used here in the UK
Usually "the optics aren't good" where something comes across as something more negative than it really is. So, fir example, if someone has been talking about leaving a job and then just happened to put notice in as a crisis or something negative about the company transpired the two things would be linked in people's eyes and in the media.
I have heard this in the charity sector and (I think) in local government circles.
I think it's not that unusual to be honest.

Meghan knows exactly what she is doing

I’m no fan of Meghan, but I believe the suggestions that all her publicity ventures are timed to coincidence with royal events here is far fetched.
Machiavellian she may be, but she cannot be sure of all of the release dates of royal events here and I just think she wants constant exposure rather than planned coincidental timings.

She uses words that mean nothing to those in the UK. Here in the US, we understand exactly what she means. Which is good since her podcast and article are released in the US on US platforms for US audiences.

shock

I've heard the word "optics" used here in the UK during business meetings, and in presentations, on more than one occasion.

I can't believe no one else has!

In microscopy?

But as a business term, no.

Apparently Meghan has given an interview stating it ‘…takes a lot to forgive…’
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62717696
I’m afraid that for me it doesn’t come across well but I can’t put my finger on why.
I think she’s disingenuous.

You left out the, "The duchess responded: "I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive." Do you not think that you might make you look disingenuous too?

Absolutely not disingenuous on my part, I was directly quoting from the article in the Telegraph.
??

And yet, the link you quoted was from the BBC and followed up with the lines I quoted. You were selective in what you quoted to make MM look bad and that is exactly what the press do. I don't for one minute think she is an angel but balance is important otherwise you are quoting out of context.
