Spotify - is it time to ditch streaming services and return to CDs?

My CD player doesn't do bluetooth, & my phone does, so it's Spotify or similar for me.
The free version used to be quite good (although with ads) but now I can't search for a song / piece, Spotify will find it & then play a random selection from the album it's on, rather than the piece I wanted. It won't skip either anymore, on the free version so I use youtube & get a subscription on a free month's trial to spotify occasionally

Ive never signed up for music streaming though do watch the odd YouTube video. I have my vinyl and CD collections from when I was 11 years old, never stopped playing them.

Spotify on subscription and Alexa make my music listening just that - my music.

Yes, I get you! Many are skipping subscriptions now. Some even try alternatives like spotimody, while others return to classic CDs.

I’m an avid muso and I simply love Spotify. It’s opened up my listening so much and introduced me to new artists. The best thing is the day list which comes up with a list of new tracks every day based on my tastes.
I know it’s not great for artists but many of them wouldn’t get exposure without it.
I loved vinyl but streaming music just seems natural now and as a consumer I think it’s worth its weight in gold.
I’m a choral singer and our choir creates a playlist for each season so we can easily use the music for practice. That, finding all the music I listened to in the 70s and beyond and discovering new ambient and dance material makes me very happy indeed.

Never tried Spotify as I am quite happy with my CDs. Also with DVDs, although we do use iPlayer. Remember when everyone was getting rid of their vinyl LPs as CDs were so much better? Now look what's happening. I believe that cassettes are making a reappearance, so there must be money in them too. What goes around comes around...

There are other streaming services - Tidal and Qobuz are good, and no more expensive.

We have joint Spotify. We tried the free one but it drove us bonkers.

I don't own a CD player as I got rid of my player and CDs and DVD s when I moved . I use Spotify but the free one the ads don't bother me. It's free so would never go back to buying CD DVDs or owning a CD/DVD player

I pay £11:99 a month for spotify. I don't do streaming for anything else and I listen in the mornings to my playlist.

I also losten to CDs but not so often.

I am having to think about whether I can justify paying this, so I'm undecided.

I will miss my morning music- so maybe will keep it on for a while.

Spotify has been a disaster for musicians.

I only listen to Spotify when I’m driving for an hour or two or more. I put up with the ads, not paying for something with only occasional use. There are some big distances here and Spotify is good when tackling those.

I mostly listen in the car and when doing housework, we dont have any CD players in either! I love spotify and listen to lots of podcasts as well as music.

I don’t use Spotify and despite having many CDs gathering dust I have nothing to play them on.
I use Alexa to listen to music.
Funnily enough DH said the other day we ought to get rid of all our CDs to a charity shop.

No I ve never bought any of these extras Got plenty to listen to with CDs and radio and YouTube’s

I love my cds, I have dozens and dozens and the quality from my old bose cd player is awesome. I don`t have spoify or any other streaming supplier, even going to ditch amazon prime just before the £95 renewal.

I have never signed up just loaded what I wanted into the i pod and use the Sonos for lots of music through Amazon Prime
