My friend Wiggy

Some of you knew that I had a pet cockatiel for many years, called Wiggy. She died yesterday afternoon. I know she was only a bird but I was so fond of her. Thank you to those who showed an interest in her. Only yesterday, MissAdventure asked how she was.
I'm going offline now. My son is on the way to help me bury her in the garden, and will stay the weekend, so I need to go shopping.
I know there are many things worse in the world than losing a pet, but I am still upset. But I will be ok in a couple of days.

I am so sorry for losing your family member.

Yes, there are always worse things if anybody wants to play that game - childish and unnecessary

So sorry you had to go through that

I’m so sorry you’ve lost your birdy companion, Henetha. Wiggy, and all pets, are not ‘just’ an animal, they’re a beloved part of our lives. flowers

I’d have been interested to know about Wiggy - I’ve been fond of birds ever since an elderly couple gave my brother and I a pair of budgies when we were young. They were dear little pets, even if my brother’s bird had a tendency to bite if she was annoyed!

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I didn’t know about the lovely Wiggy but can understand how you feel about the loss of a much- loved pet. I love the name by the way.

So sorry to hear of this Henetha. You must be feeling so lost. Pets are very much parts of the family. It's nice that your son is coming to help and give you a bit of support.

Our pets are such dear friends who bring so much joy. I'm so sorry to hear about Wiggy henetha.

Henetha I understand how sad you must feel. Birds are such special creatures. I absolutely love them. Several years ago a Galah, in a zoo in Australia, bonded with me. I have never forgotten that bird. It was love at first sight for both of us. A friend used to have a cockateel. He was very entertaining and also 'the boss' around the house. I am visited several times a day by a lovely male blackbird. He's been coming for three years. Again, there's a bond.
Sending my thoughts in your sadness. In time I hope happy memories of Wiggy will be dominant. flowers

JaneJudge Fri 02-Sept-22 10:28:44

Oh I'm sorry flowers of course they are not 'just' pets, they are part of our families and offer companionship which is often underrated by those who are not pet lovers. Look after yourself

Smileless2012 Fri 02-Sept-22 10:23:48

Sorry about your loss henetha, our pets in all shapes, sizes and types become such a big part of our lives don't they flowers.

Oh Henetha, I knew that it was you.
Sending you thanks and a hug x

MiniMoon Fri 02-Sept-22 10:07:35

We had a cockatiel for many years henetha. I know how attached

we can become to a bird. Ours was called Magic, we bought her from a pet show as her little girl owner had become allergic to her.
She was the best alarm bird ever, she called loudly long before the dog barked when anyone approached the house.
We loved her to bits. She is buried under a tree next to our previous house.
flowers for you and happy memories of Wiggy.

Georgesgran Fri 02-Sept-22 10:07:15

?the loss of any pet is devastating. Sending hugs. X

Wheniwasyourage Fri 02-Sept-22 10:05:33

It doesn't matter what kind of pet you have, if it is something you love you are bound to be upset and sad when it dies. You are right, there are worse things in the world, but that doesn't mean you are wrong to be sad, particularly if you had Wiggy for many years. I speak as one who has no pets, but I still understand your sadness and wish you comfort as time goes on. flowers

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 02-Sept-22 10:03:50

I’m so sorry henetha. Wiggy was a friend and companion and was much loved, so her loss is deeply felt. All of us who have lost beloved pets understand how you feel. Sending you love and a hug. ?

Juliet27 Fri 02-Sept-22 10:02:45

That is so sad. Having had and lost pets I fully understand the sadness No matter how small, they all have their personalities and we grow fond of them. flowers
