Modern technology, isn't it wonderful?

More than 3 tv channels that don't finish at 10pm. Now I can watch rubbish anytime of the night!
Like mobile phones but not surgically attached to mine.
Loads more, wonder how things will change in the future.

Yes Jaylou, streaming movies and programs on Netflix and Disney etc definitely improve the TV options.

Satnav is great too, you can find anywhere with a postcode and your phone, no more maps!

Technology is wonderful if one understands it. My smartphone is a step too far for me.

Being able to think, ‘I’d really like to read such and such a book,’ and have it whizz through thin air into my Kindle less than a minute later. All 100,000 or more words of it.

How can that be possible?

And video, like FaceTime or Zoom, for distant family or friends at the best time, but through lockdowns it was vital.

My DD1 won an iWatch, and she already has one - so now I have an iWatch. I can answer my phone on it, track down said phone when I mislay it, get Satnav on it (it warns me of approaching junctions). It counts my steps and checks my pulse, its fantastic! Soon we won't need phones, it'll all be there on our wrists.

Oh - and it tells the time too.

I think it is even more wonderful that I can ask my Alexa enabled device to read the same kindle book and she does . I can even skip bits , go back and set a sleep timer which I do every night before she lulls me to sleep .

I am at the moment 'talking' to my brother and seeing photos of his holiday. He lives hours away. I have just researched the parking arrangements for my new job. It's just so helpful.

Our granddaughter was so disappointed tonight on our video call because our camera wasn’t working. Ordinary phone calls are just not good enough anymore

My DD was helping with a charity group and they used the CDs to make wall hangings decorating them etc. as the shop just could not sell them .

They're supposed to keep the birds away from grapes and other fruits growing in the garden if you hang them up but the birds just duck under them.

I love technology until it goes wrong. My frustration and sense of uselessness knows no bounds. Happily, 'switch it off completely' very often does the trick. However.........

I love my iPad, don’t know how I lived without it. I like that pirates are now going out of business ( except the hard cores ) because you can get almost anything free anyway !

Ordinary phone calls are just not good enough anymore

Well, they are for me when I chat to DD in Oz. I don’t have to see her every time to feel close, but that’s just me. Never felt the need to have piles of photos either of everything we all do.

I like being able to order library books online, hardly ever bother having to choose any at the actual library now. Just go in and collect them when they are ready, always have a few on reservation.
