Good morning all, from a sunny Glasgow, however we do have a forecast of showers. Hopefully nothing like yesterday's torrential rain!
I hope all goes well today Mick, those powders are pretty powerful. According to DH, that was the worst part.
Baubles, what beautiful photos of your romantic assignation! I love the castle, but the only fact I remember about it, is that President Kennedy once stayed there.
When the children were small we used to take them to nearby Dunure.
Another unexpectedly pleasant day for us yesterday. I had to go into Paisley, to pick up DH's watch repair. I persuaded him to accompany me, by offering a fish tea at lunchtime.
I couldn't believe it, when I got a parking space right in the centre of town.
To avoid climbing the steep hill to The Cross, I suggested we cut through the closed down shopping mall, where I could use the escalators, to avoid the hill.
To our delight, there was an art exhibition inside the closed down dept. store, where we spent a happy and contented hour browsing. There were hundreds of exhibits from local artists.
On our way out of the centre, we spotted a small shop unit, exhibiting prints of old Paisley and a magnificent painting of the church, where DS2 and DD were married in March. I got chatting to the the gentleman in the shop, about the black ink prints and reminiscing about places, which had been demolished. Someone, with no sense of heritage was responsible for that!
It turned out, he was the actual artist.
On the wall were two huge canvases of Paisley with local characters and places painted on them, including Paolo Nuttini and Gerry Rafferty of Steelers Wheel.
Informing us that he was working on a third canvas and if we would like to be included in it, just to let him know, because he had really enjoyed our informative conversation, which had made his day!
We had filled him in with a lot of background information about the places he had drawn, which brought back many happy memories of our childhood.
DH and I left, feeling quite nostalgic.
However, the day was yet to get better and I don't mean the delicious fish tea in the Italian cafe (which Michael Portillo visited on one of his train journeys.)
Last night DS1 arranged to come down and watch the football, because he didn't have that channel. Usually DH goes up there, where Dollie joins them, snuggled up to papa.
I got a phone call from DS to say that Dollie was extremely annoyed that she hadn't been invited, due to it being a school night.
The solution, DIL drove DS down, escorted by a very smug Dollie, who had come to check her gran and papa were ok, the plan being DH would take DS home later.
She tried everything, to be allowed to stay, but only reluctantly left after being bribed with two chocolate, orange creams and a see- saw for her fairy garden, which I had picked up earlier in Paisley.
DH had to do it, because my cataracts mean I can no longer drive in the dark.
He was a little *traumatised^ on his return. This was his first time driving in his new car in the dark!
If you had asked me two years ago, when my son estranged himself from the whole family, I would have said that this would have been impossible. ?
Never give up hope!
Kalu, a reprimand for you!
1. I didn't know that Massimo Dutti was part of the same group as Zara
2. Thank goodness I didn't know there was one at the bottom of Buchanan Street, I would have been tempted to go, but would never have managed to get back up the hill.
3. Fortunately, I didn't bump into you, you would have most certainly led me astray.
4. Thanks to you, I was obliged to look at their website and on Ebay, I am now hooked shallow person that I am!
I will go back and read the posts and see what you are all up to.
Have a good day all.
