Recurring dream

I can drive really well and very fast in my dreams (there are never any other vehicles on the road) - in real life I have never passed my test or driven!

My dreams are often wish fulfillment where everything works out fine. Then I wake and the reality is not so good.

Losing things in dreams is a common theme, I believe.
Then there's the one when you have dressed but forgotten your skirt. Or left your children somewhere. These dreams are self-explanatory.
A recurring dream is supposed to mean that you are frustrated by something in your life that needs solving.

I used to have the same one over and over - about a house I know I’ve never been to, but I knew every room in detail.
The recurrent exam nightmare one, ditto the Christmas shopping* one, need no explanation!
*its 4 pm on Ch. Eve and I’ve forgotten to buy any presents, a tree, or anything.

My DH often has dreams about his former job from which he retired 14 years ago! Makes no sense, just that it was so much part of his life for over 25 years.

I dream I'm in service in a large hotel in Scotland...It must be round about 1930s by the clothes Im wearing....It has a huge staircase with a beautiful red carpet where all the guests come down...It also has accommodation for workers which has a cobbled courtyard....I always feel so happy when I wake up..I'm convinced I lived there in another life as the dream is so vivid.

Over a period of about fifteen years, occasionally I would dream of being in a room with Princess Margaret.
In the fullness of time I received an invitation to the opening of a new unit in a teaching hospital. It was Princess Margaret who opened the unit. Never had the dream after that day.

Similar to you Grandma70 s. If I dream I am always lost, wandering around in strange places, usually on my own, trying desperately (but failing ) to get help/ back to where I am staying.
Always disturbing. Glad I don’t dream often.

I used to have one where I was reversing into a parking space slowly, but car wouldn't respond when I put my foot on brake pedal - continued to slide backwards. I always woke up before crashing into anything. I'm sure that was something about control - I'm a bit of a control freak!

Another was setting out to cycle somewhere - different routes each time I dreamt. It was a very long distance and beginning to get dark and I had no lights on bike. I would start the journey but dream always ended before I got there or had an accident because of lack of light!

I can remember those dreams years later - they were so vivid - so must be something in my subconscious.

You’re missing your job or something that your job gave you. A sense of achievement? Contact with others? Opportunities for problem solving?

You’ll need to work out what’s gone and find ways to factor it in to your current life?

On the other hand I could be talking total rubbish?
