Good morning from Durham where after a poor start, it’s turned into another glorious day.
The gardeners are just finishing off, but I’ve given them a long list of jobs before they finish for the year.
I feel everyone is a little subdued this morning following yesterday’s sad news. It’s odd how the passing of a gracious, old lady has affected many of us so much? I think it brings back memories as those we’ve lost and it’s also a reminder of our own mortality.
A birthday card to post and I need a bit of food shopping, but can’t see much more on the cards today.

You will be sadly missed. RIP Queen Elizabeth ?

Kalu Fri 09-Sept-22 10:01:29

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow.
I will be taking DH into hospital later on today for both of us to have a catch up chat with his consultant.
RIP Queen Elizabeth. ?

Good, late for me, morning, from a wet Oxford, we’re away for a few days.
It’s disconcerting not being home at such a time.
Guided tour this afternoon, I hope it dries up.
Have a peaceful day all ??

Good morning everyone. You saw our weather on TV yesterday - but the sun is trying to break through now. Like everyone, I was shocked by yesterday's news. On Tuesday there she was, immaculate, and with that lovely smile in place......... What an effort it must have taken just to get up and be made ready, and then to hold her conversation with the new PM. I feel a bit as if I am now adrift, without a Captain, in a very grey and stormy sea. I'm not sure King Charles is anything like the same calibre. I hope time will tell different. What a strong, strong person she was. May she rest in peace.

Good morning all from a wet Wexford.
Home today , it will be nice to be back to normality , it has been lovely to have company , but I’m a closet hermit by nature I think
This is the night view from my room

Good morning, we re off on holiday to Norfolk and will visit Sandringham. It feels very odd to have lived in the reigns of three Monarchs. Best wishes to all.

Good morning.
A day of reflection here. I am going down to the church.
Long live the King.

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp Carlisle.
What a sad evening it was yesterday, I just sat and read whilst listening to some lovely reflective music being played on Classic FM. I can't believe how sad this non-royalist is but the Queen was always the unchanging bedrock of the nation, a person whose character you could admire for her devotion to duty.
Today just a day of carrying on with some admin, I've already done the ironing whilst listening to the news until I could take no more.
Have the best possible day all.

A sad day for all of us. feel so emotional after the news yesterday. She was a lovely lady and I always felt lived her life with dignity. Will be at work later be a quiet day though.

BlueSapphire Fri 09-Sept-22 09:23:46

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton.
Such sad news yesterday. I too can remember her father dying, my aunty picking me up from school and telling me the news; I was about 6 or 7.
Our rugby match was called off, so, as DD and her DH were here to pick me up and needed to eat, we went to the pub, where we raised a glass to Her late Majesty.
Had planned to go to Milton Keynes today, but will not bother now, as I am not sure whether the shops I need will be open.

RIP Your Majesty.

Good morning from cloudy Sefton where my thoughts are filled by a lady with great dignity, a keen sense of fun, who was ever dutiful even in her final days.
Sending my belated condolences to maddyone.
Carpe diem.

GrannySomerset Fri 09-Sept-22 09:13:08

The weather this morning reflects my mood and I am surprised that. HM’s death feels like another bereavement. Happily I have friends to lunch - not seen them for three years - and this evening DD and DGD1 arrive for a couple of nights, so no time to mope. Not sure I can sympathise with the level of public emotion, though!

Beechnut Fri 09-Sept-22 08:37:24

Good Morning everyone from Severnside.

My thought to all ?

hollysteers Fri 09-Sept-22 08:24:56

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
R.I.P. to a true Queen, conscientious and modest to the very end. I was surprised how emotional I felt, considering her age and frailty. My mother around the same age always took an interest in the Queen and bore a resemblance to her, so it brought back memories too.
King Charles will take some getting used to,
Thoughts to all with troubles today.

Good morning from an overcast East Midlands.
The world faces a sad day today.

"Rest easy Ma'am, your work here is done".

hulahoop Fri 09-Sept-22 08:23:18

Sorry to hear your news maddyone .

HAZBEEN Fri 09-Sept-22 08:09:39

Good morning all!
A quiet day for me today I think. I was born 4 years after the Queen ascended the throne, she has been a constant in my life.
RIP Your Majesty.
Hugs to all.

Good morning all from a dull Black country .
Thank you all for yesterday's birthday wishes a lovely day ending on a sad note.
Meeting friends this evening.
Love to all enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.

Good morning everyone from sunny Malaga. I’ve been reading some of the eulogies about HM in the newspapers and I felt quite tearful. I think it’s just that she was ‘always there’ and is no longer. The end of an era indeed.

We have no plans today, we are happy to sit quietly, read and doubtless reflect on events.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 09-Sept-22 07:53:48

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It will be a strange day. The Accession Council will be at St James Palace today. Elder son, his partner and our granddaughter should be arriving this evening from London. We haven’t seen them since July as they spent the summer in Barbados. I have to sort their room out and plan the menus. It will be lovely to see them all. I wonder what my son’s partner will make of all the colourful decor which has been created since she was last here? Their place is totally white, even the curtains.

RIP The Queen.

NannyJan53 Fri 09-Sept-22 07:50:49

Good morning from a dull Black Country where I stayed overnight at Mums.

Such a sad day today. I was born September 1953, so I have known no other Monarch.

I think we will have a trip out to Bridgnorth today.

Hold your loved ones close.

Abitbarmy Fri 09-Sept-22 07:46:43

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northumberland. It has been raining since yesterday lunchtime. We travel home to North Yorkshire today so looking forward to getting back to my own bed and a good nights sleep, it was another very early start with GD this morning. We’ve loved spending time with her though and she seems to have enjoyed it too. Feel very sad but so proud of our Queen. R.I.P.

Gingster Fri 09-Sept-22 07:36:47

What a sad day! The weather seems in tune with how most of us are feeling.
RIP Queen Elizabeth II. ?
