I suppose she didn’t think about the role she might one day have to play when she took up with Charles as a young woman. Maybe she should have left things as they were at the time.

Yes they both look so tired, and whilst Camilla would have known that this was inevitable someday, the sudden overnight change to the their lives must be totally overwhelming. As I know from personal experience even dealing with peoples condolences and kind wishes is emotionally exhausting, and they are being closely watched and filmed while trying to cope with it all. Who knows what underlying health issues they may have even if it's just the minor aches and pains of senior years. I do wonder why some of the traditional official ceremonies could not have been pared back and tailored a little to allow for their ages. Hopefully between now and the funeral they can have at least one day by themselves to relax and recharge their batteries.

Camilla seems to be a strong woman, and her affection for Charles is evident in the concerned glances and little smiles I've noticed over the past few days. I'm glad Charles has her at his side, she will be his 'rock' as Philip was for the Queen. And I think in time she'll be referred to simply as Queen Camilla by most people.

I for one wish them the best of health and happiness.

As many have already said - It’s not good for any grieving person to be allowed one day of privacy and then a constant steam of official commitments to attend to, under the scrutiny of the press. The family must have known what the procedures were going to be but, it seems unkind that they are being put through this. Inevitably there will be hecklers and rudeness from some folk too.

The Royal Family are sticking to the letter of the protocol regardless of the toll it is taking on their persons. They must feel that it is necessary and the RF does have a strong survival instinct. Perhaps Charles will modernise the protocol for William.

If Charles & Camilla had been allowed to marry when they were young there would be a totally different set of circumstances now! For their love to have lasted down the following years till they were finally able to be together is a testament to them both! Our lovely Queen must have realised this to insist on Camilla being Queen Consort! I hope that they can get through this safely!

So sorry for your loss my brother died tragically years ago aged 49 it near broke my father . He has dementia now and keeps asking when he is going to visit. Heart breaking

I wish them both well. I hope Charles and Camilla manage to get some rest uninterrupted by the media after next Monday.
When we lost my mother-in-law, our grief was overwhelming and there was endless organisation to be put in place. The fact that she lived over 300 miles away meant that exhaustion made it worse, but at least we weren’t expected to put on a public face and interact with endless strangers, some of whom are less than kind. Even if it’s their job, it doesn’t make it any easier.
Do I think Camilla looks tired, yes. Who wouldn’t in these circumstances?

Am I missing something poor Camilla it her own fault it’s why she broke up a marriage to get what she wanted everyone one was up on arms then . Diana was used as a brood mare then dumped . I am sorry for the loss of the Queen as our queen also a mother grandmother great grandmother and auntie, but that’s where it ends . No doubt I have upset people now but people have short memories . I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels like this. I am not anti monarchy but anti what adultery does to people

They were in love when they were both very young, and it never changed, They are so fortunate that they are able to spend these latter years together.

I think Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip can beat that without even going back in history or how about Victoria and Albert the poor woman never came out of mourning after his death.

Victoria made a fetish out of her mourning.

People who don't feel for the Royal family at this time must have swinging bricks for hearts. For goodness sake they have lost their mother. When I lost mine I didn't even feel like seeing visiting relatives, never mind anything else.

Camilla seems a good sort, I’m impressed that she’s taken on a lot of good causes concerned with the needs of women.

I agree, they must be exhausted, as well as missing the Queen dreadfully.

I'm not a great fan of Camilla but I have some sympathy for someone older than me who is doing something which although she has wanted probably all her adult life is going to be very hard. I don't think she is as fit and healthy as other members of the Royal Family and I know she has the best of health care but she is getting older and less capable. I don't think she will be able or even want to carry out as many engagements as are needed and she has her own children and Grandchildren that she will now rarely see. It will be interesting over the next few years to see how she copes.

They must both be exhausted with so much involved these last few days. I hope they will be able to slow down a bit this week. Hopefully once the funeral is over Camilla's role at least will not be quite so full on.

Goodness the poor woman is grieving! Also doing it on camera….she’s allowed to be tired! How many on this site would loose a valued family member and look bright eyed and busy tailed a day later! And for comments on her not wearing well…..just rude!

I think it's awful what the family are having to go through in public after the death of such a much loved family member. They all look so full of grief it breaks my heart.

I am wondering-and I would be grateful for any insight- why she is constantly referred to as ‘ Camilla, the Queen Consort’ ? Why not Queen Camilla? Our late Queen’s mother was Queen Elizabeth, or simply the Queen (Queen Mother after her husband’s death) and Queen Mary, our late Queen’s grandmother and George V’s spouse, was most definitely a Queen! It seems rather unfair to me. We don’t need reminding that she is not a Queen Regnant, we know she receives her title as the wife of our King! I hope that she is popularly known as Queen Camilla-I will definitely be calling her that and not this ‘Queen Consort’ nonsense, even if it is the ‘official’ title.

Camilla does sound as if she is a loving person. I can remember being touched when, just after their wedding photo was taken, she looked at the now Prince of Wales and said to him,
‘ William come over here’ while tapping her knee.

This is not to minimise their family grief but the experience is very different to everyday people when their dearest dies.
They have ongoing support financially and practically. Not the worries of going to the undertaker and the worries of the costing of a funeral. Not the arduous task of dealing with utilities trying to take his name off the bills " but we need authorisation from the named account holder " But I sent you a copy of the death certificate,shall I call a seance ?
Yes it must be hard to be in the public eye but it is very different isn't it ?

It's a tiring time for them both, but Camilla looked weary last night. I think they make a great pair and she will be a strong woman who will stay by his side through his reign. They've just landed here in N.Ireland so another exhausting day for them both. I've been looking forward to them coming here, we now have a King visiting us, its great.

Bereavement is exhausting enough without all this pomp and circumstance! I feel sorry for the poor woman. Charles is probably handling it better. And don't forget they have lots of help, drivers, dressers, cooks, private secretaries, advisors, pilots, etc. etc.!

Franbern, I’m so sorry you lost your beloved son. That is the ultimate tragedy, to lose a child.
