The consultant laid me with my head hanging over the end of the examination table, when my eyes stopped going crazy he quickly pulled me into a sitting position by holding my neck, the dizziness stopped immediately, although the after effects lasted for a few weeks, after that MrOops was able to do it for me each time I had an ‘episode’.
The Epley manoeuvre is on YouTube but you have to be careful not to hurt someone.

My doctor showed me how to do it. No problems.
This was the one where you sit on the bed with a pillow behind you.

I had all of the symptoms of BPPV, but the Consultant checked and did more tests to make sure it wasn’t something more serious ( I’m assuming your GP did the same tests?)
But I never felt sick or faint.
My world just span around and made me feel as though I was falling backwards, even when I was laying down. Horrid!

Thank you for this info. Has really helped.

I went to a Consultant who did the Epley manoeuvre on me, if it’s done correctly it immediately stops the BPPV, but you will feel tired and disorientated for some days after and a bit wobbly.

Took me a few days to gauge where the doorway was, I kept bumping into the wall!

My GP had a couple of attempts at the manoeuvre and said that’s it you’ll be fine now. I wasn’t as he didn’t do it correctly.

Has anyone had experiences of BPPV, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
I went Tuesday for physical therapy exercises, the tilting of the head in several different ways, she said that should be fine from then, but Wednesday afternoon I came over all faint, very close to passing out, felt really sick and rushed to kitchen sink & ran the cold tap over my neck for about 5 minutes, until I became more like myself. Afterwards I was so tired, shaky that I thought phone dr, ambulance or go to A&E dept. My husband rushed home from work & got an emergency appointment at the drs, where gp Checked me all over, couldn’t find anything. Just still feel so tired.
GP did say that after having that procedure on Tuesday it could take a little while for the crystals in the ear to settle back in it’s usual place. Any ideas?
