I suppose it may been connected to the current situation of the death of the Queen but for the last few nights I have been having dreams about people dying. Last night was the worst. I dreamt about a very close family dying suddenly and although I was dreaming I had the most dreadful feeling of loss. When I woke up the feeling was still with me and it took several minutes before I could throw it off. I have just kept thinking about how I felt all day it just felt so real. . Just wondered if anyone else might get these dreams

Sorry, should say ‘family member’

Calendargirl Thu 15-Sept-22 17:51:10

I bet it is connected with all the news about the Queen’s death. Your subconscious will pick up various bits and you will then dream about it.

Well, that’s what I think is happening, but I’m no expert.

When I have had a horrible dream ... when I wake up & yes plays on my mind, I keep saying to myself it is just a dream & not a reality & try to forget it ... this helps me ... may not suit everyone ... hope this may help ... trouble is we can all read things into dreams ... hard I know but try not to let it play & your mind & think of good things ... all the best

Are you on any new medication? I find that antibiotics give me unpleasant dreams.

I once tried Bach flowers and they gave me weird dreams, not unpleasant but odd.

MissAdventure Thu 15-Sept-22 21:51:39

I had some marvellous dreams when I wore the nicotine patches.
That Simon Cowell (!) is quite a man! wink

Now that is a nightmare. Which era was his face in?

MissAdventure Thu 15-Sept-22 22:06:43

I can't say I was that interested in his face during the dream. smile

I don't fancy him in real life.

MissAdventure

I had some very weird dreams on the nicotine patches. Not marvellous ones but very strange.
I also had some weird ones when I was pregnant, both times.

I dreamed I was a werewolf one night.
It magnificent, feeling myself contorting into an animal, and then prowling around in the woods, howling at the moon.

some of my dreams are like films and i wonder how your mind comes up with these things

MissAdventure Thu 15-Sept-22 22:14:26

I have recurring nightmares, and have since I was a child (sensitive, remember? smile) and they are very vivid; like horror films.

JaneJudge Thu 15-Sept-22 22:16:05

mine were too, really awful

MissAdventure Thu 15-Sept-22 22:19:34

I dreamt that daughter called me to look at something, and when I went to look, she had killed someone.

I spent the rest of the dream trying to push the corpse up the chimney to hide it. shock

lilypollen Thu 15-Sept-22 22:56:54

I believe that dreams about dying don't actually signify death, so don't be too concerned.

MissAdventure Thu 15-Sept-22 22:59:32

I was only concerned when the chimney sweep turned up in my dream.
It's strange how awful the mind can be, given free reign. Rein?

MissAdventure Thu 15-Sept-22 23:03:48

Rein. I'm going out on a here.
Rein. Final answer.

I feel exactly like that.
And when I’m aware that I’m dreaming, I’m amazed that my minds coming out with this stuff.
I’ve got a decent imagination, but nowhere near as good as the one that is at work on my dreams.
It honestly feels like they are coming from elsewhere.
Years ago I had a dream that was very similar to the Hunger Games and the final scene of Tarantino’s Inglourious Bastards.
It was way before either of them.
It was phenomenal!

MissA I have had many ‘Cowell Moments’.
I think the most memorable was John Goodman (he certainly was!) I was only 19 blush

I have never had a nightmare. In fact, I look forward to bedtime to see what I'm going to dream about tonight!

Here you are, MissA - hope this can out your mind at rest:

"put" not "out"

At one time I suffer from horrific nightmares, they were caused by the medicine I was taking. I say caused but maybe my brain is always thinking like this and the medicine was allowing it to come to the surface. I don’t know how it works.

nadateturbe Fri 16-Sept-22 07:49:06

Killymouge it's probably related to the continual news coverage of the queen's death.
Maybe try not to watch/listen too much. It doesn't mean anything bad is going to happen.

I used to dream regularly I was trying to hide/escape from paramilitaries (No doubt related to where I live).

MissAdventure pushing a corpse up the chimney! What a dream. ?
Perhaps you and FannyC should try writing books.

I can still vividly recall a nightmare I had when I was about seven or eight. A fox suddenly came out of its hole and bit my big brother's arm right off.
That's when I discovered that arms have rings I them, like a tree trunk (I can still picture it) - who'd have thought it!

My brother and I weren't close, in fact he used to be horrible to me, but I awoke from that dream so upset that I crept through to his bedroom to double-check that it just been a dream and that he still had two arms.

Even now, I regularly have nightmares and they can leave me feeling awful for hours after I wake up, but none have stayed with me as long as that one.

I had a phase of regular sleep paralysis and terrible nightmares. My GP put me on some meds which worked at once. I think it is partially insomnia related as I regularly wake for several hours in the night. Listening to calming music very low on my I pad helped, but for a while the sleep paralysis and myoclonus were making my life miserable. I too get very vivid dreams also like films.
