Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. I had a walk out in the lanes yesterday to see if I could find any elderberries, but they were few and far between, gone over early and quickly because of the hot weather, so no elderberry cordial this year. The walk was nice though and there were hazel nuts. A quiet day for me. Inside windows to clean. We are going to see Professor Brian Cox’s new “Horizons” show at the arena this evening. It is billed as a spectacular, so if I don’t come home knowing all about life, the universe and everything, I shall be very disappointed!
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

Shame about your appointment Mick, I hope you can get it rescheduled.

We had a lovely day yesterday, collected the little one from nursery and walked the short distance through Holyrood park in search of coffee. The clearing up of the barriers is still going on around the Palace and the cafe is still closed so we crossed the road to Dynamic Earth and had coffee and scones outside in the sunshine before walking over to school to pick up the eldest.

I’ve a dental appointment today then will go to a retail centre to do a supermarket shop and return a top which looked lovely on the Next website but awful on me.

Have a good day everyone.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from a sunny, mild south Manchester! A lovely start to the day.

I have a dental procedure after lunch (aargh!) and we are doing school pick up by request for an excited Boy Wonder and L’il Miss. We always bring small presents back for them so cupboard love does play a part!

Before that, we have to move the hall table, lamps, pictures etc back into the hall which was decorated while we were away. It looks lovely and fresh!

We have arranged to have the little Spanish apartment painted throughout while we are over here. It’s great to miss the upheaval and smell of paint! We left a key with Gonzalo and he knows he has four weeks in which to complete before we return. He says he will work it in to suit him around his bigger jobs. It’ll be an added pleasure o return.

Good luck with your appointment LLFL and sorry to hear yours got missed Mick through no fault of your own.

Grammaretto Fri 16-Sept-22 07:58:26

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It is chilly but sunny
I have no heating since the boiler packed in. A new one is supposed to be installed in early October but I think I should remind the plumber incase he has forgotten.
Very frustrating to miss an appointment like that Mick I hope you can see the consultant soon.
Pity about the house sale gMattie and disappointing for those purchasers.
Enjoy your Bristol trip and you Maw, Have a fab weekend in Gay Paree!

Someone is coming to take my big petrol mower away. I can no longer start it myself so have a battery one now.
I am feeling a lot better today and will trot to the library and sign the book of condolences and return the books I borrowed for DGS.
Hope everyone's day goes well. Thinking of Gingster

NannyJan53 Fri 16-Sept-22 07:58:26

Good morning from a bright blue skied Black Country, where it obviously rained overnight.

Lovely walk from Baggeridge yesterday, then over to Mums where we went out for lunch. I am quite concerned now as her memory is shocking. Asking me the same questions within 5 minutes of receiving an answer.

MrJ's DD went back home yesterday, so now we can start packing for our holiday, as we leave here Sunday afternoon, for an overnight stay near the Airport for an early morning flight. Portugal here we come!

So sad for your DD and DGD Gingster, I hope they can celebrate together soon.

Enjoy your trip Maw

Have a good day everyone.

brook2704 Fri 16-Sept-22 07:55:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright but quite chilly - I’ll be needing to sort out my warmer clothes soon ..
Hoping your DD can get home very soon Gingster and have a belated birthday celebration with your DGD, understandably she’ll be feeling so upset today, sending love and support
I’m off to the gym later for the Aqua class and splash around in the pool, then I’ll go into town for a wander
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset

Garden pottering to finish and a heap of admin for me. Mr C will change the kitchen blind.

That’s frustrating mick. Mr C was due an urgent echocardiogram on Monday, confirmation of the new appointment came yesterday, 7.20pm on October 1st. I queried it, definitely the right day and time. A late catch up clinic for which we are grateful although goodness knows what time we’ll get home as it’s over an hour away. One of ours advised taking a sleeping bag and staying there. Don’t you love helpful comments?

That’s disappointing news grandmattie. Houses seems to disappear from the market as soon as they are advertised here. I’m sure you’ll soon have a buyer. Safe trip back and forth to Bristol. Safe trip to you too maw and anyone else on the move

Have the best day you can everyone. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

Pittcity Fri 16-Sept-22 07:52:31

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Not a cloud in the sky but it feels chilly as the temperature fell to single figures overnight for the first time in months. 15° with rain later is the forecast.
I'll need a jacket when I pop into the city centre for a mooch later. I have an empty as DH is running a Duke of Edinburgh award weekend.
Love to all ? x

ShazzaKanazza Fri 16-Sept-22 07:50:33

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a bright Hull morning.

Gingster I’m sorry your DD is still in hospital. I can imagine she’s so upset to miss your GDs birthday. ?

Safe journey grandMattie and MawtheMerrier hope the trains all go well.

Yesterday’s Dr appointment went well what threw me was it was my birthday check up which isn’t for four months yet. She was very pleased with me. She took loads of bloods so I’ll get the text results soon.
Today I have a zoom yoga and some ironing to do and later picking up GS from school. He was super the other day so hoping for the same today

Grandmadinosaur dinosaur enjoy those Pomada’s. DH will be drinking those when we go soon.

Enjoy your day everyone and thoughts to those struggling with stress ??

Gingster Fri 16-Sept-22 07:37:52

Good morning all.

It’s little gd’s 7th birthday today and her poor mum is still In hospital. They are both upset by this, but I think mum is more so!?.
Never mind these things happen and they’ll celebrate soon, I hope ?.

Her other nanny and her dad will pick her up from school and take her out.

Safe journey GM. I hope the journey is trouble free.

How annoying Mick.

Enjoy the day, those who can ?

Grandmadinosaur Fri 16-Sept-22 07:34:56

Thank you Marydoll

Good morning from another bright sunny morning in Pollensa.

Apart from shopping today we will have another potter around the Island. Then back to the pool and a light supper as I’m sure we will find a restaurant somewhere for Lunch.
MissOops moved into Halls yesterday, she is excited and nervous, but her BF lives nearby so she can have a wander around the city today.
Hope everyone has a good day today.

MawtheMerrier Fri 16-Sept-22 07:30:11

Good morning all from N Bucks where it looks set fair but is quite cool. A disturbed night as Rosie started barking at two and rushed outside . She was a long time coming in and this morning I see she has dug a hole and destroyed a corner of the lawn. There’s something in that bed - squirrels nuts? I hope not moles. Just hope she has forgotten about whatever it is by the time she comes home from kennels on Monday.
So I am off to Gay Paree for the weekend! D and SIL are taking me and we are staying at a little flat his parents own near the Gare du Nord. I fear the trains to London and the underground could be very busy (hope your cross London journey is OK GM ) but I shall walk along to St P’s from Euston via the back way behind the British Library.
Au revoir! !

Marydoll Fri 16-Sept-22 07:29:47

Grandmadinosaur a couple of the Glesca Grannies have been in touch with Grandmabatty. She has a lot going on just now is taking a wee break, but is still following the thread.

Have a good holiday!

ginny Fri 16-Sept-22 07:27:23

Good morning everyone from an overcast N. Bucks.
DH is off to golf and I will be looking after DGS3 for a few hours. His brother has a hospital appointment and other children are not allowed.
Later I must sort out craft materials for various clubs and projects.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Marydoll Fri 16-Sept-22 07:26:26

Good morning all, this is my second attempt, the golfer came up to help me make the bed and I lost the whole post! Grrr
It must be quite chilly, because DH, who never feels the cold, is all wrapped up. I had to put the heating on last night, the house was so chilly. Alexa has told me it's presently 5C. brrr!
Truly Autumn now.

What a disappointment Mick, to have missed your appointment.
I always get an automated phone call and also a text, prior to mine, it's an excellent idea and saves wasting time and resources.
I once got one in Rome, asking me to confirm I would be attending for my op the following week. I had no idea, which hospital and and taht I was having an op!!!
GM, I am so disappointed for you, I'm sure you will find a buyer soon. It's a seller's market here, houses are selling very quickly.

I'm off to Lidl, my baking stash is low and I have a £5 voucher burning a whole in my purse. Those windfall apples are also taunting me!

Yesterday's idea of jumping on the bus to get my prescriptions was indeed a smart move.
I parked my car in the last space in the town centre, (most of the disabled spaces were taken by thoughtless, non Blue Badge holders ?) ran across the road to a waiting bus and was back at my car within twenty minutes.
I discovered all the roads surrounding the surgery were being resurfaced, it was chaotic. A lucky escape!

My car was parked beside the venue where the art exhibition was being held, so I had a mooch. All the proceeds are going to the local hospice, a brilliant idea for a fundraiser. Many exhibits were outwith my budget, but I did buy a pottery pot holder, I did not need, nor had space for!
Although chilly, the sun was shining and it really lifted my spirits. Not having to walk far, also made it an enjoyable morning.

Also today, I need to catch up on chores I didn't get done yesterday.
A fellow parishioner phoned to thank me for the support and advice the PP and I had been giving her over a delicate family matter.
I felt quite humbled that she had taken the time to do so, because it had been troubling me all week and had taken up a lot of my time.
Ninety minutes later, we were still chatting!
She kept addressing me as Mrs, which made me feel about ninety, as she is in he late seventies. This is a throwback from my teaching days in the town. Most people (including friends) call me Mrs MD, not done formally, but affectionately.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, I hope to hear more positive news about your daughter, Gingster and that Maw is having des vacances fabuleuses. ???????

Grandmadinosaur Fri 16-Sept-22 07:23:56

Good morning all from a very bright, sunny Menorca.
Our hotel is right by the waterfront that goes into Mahon. I was awoken at 5 am by a ferry going past into there.
Had a pleasant day yesterday. Had a dip in the jacuzzi and laze on a sun bed in the morning. Then went to Mahon in the afternoon. Went on a boat trip out of there which was nice and breezy out on the water. We then went to the Gin distillery on the water front. Indulged in a few samples as you do! I’ve become very fond of the local tipple Pomada. We bought some and drank it in our balcony last night after a light dinner as we’d eaten late in Mahon.
We will have an easy day today reading our books etc.

Safe journey gM I expect London will be very busy.
I’ve been thinking of grandmabatty and hoping she is ok. If anyone is in touch with her would they pass on best wishes?

Take care all.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 16-Sept-22 07:21:42

Morning all

Off to the gym this morning, then a trip to Aldi.

We are not going out this evening but having a Chinese takeaway instead.

Have a good Friday folks ??‍♀️

BlueBalou Fri 16-Sept-22 07:05:07

Good morning everyone, it’s a dull start here in Wiltshire.
Nothing at all planned for a few days so I am going to get various chores out of the way, enjoy walking DDog and start reading the mountain of books I have accumulated over the years before I buy any more! I rarely read because my concentration is poor so perhaps this will sort it out?
Anyway, hope you all have a good day today and an enjoyable weekend x

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 16-Sept-22 07:04:31

Morning all from an autumnal looking West Oxfordshire. I have to be at the Health Centre by 8.30 am for yet another blood test so should be leaping out of bed soon. I have bits and pieces of admin to do for the rest of the day.

Ashcombe Fri 16-Sept-22 06:44:13

Safe travels, grandMattie. I grinned at your crockery comment! ?Shame about the potential buyers. ☹️

grandMattie Fri 16-Sept-22 06:26:15

Good morning from a dawning E Kent. The nights are drawing in, we are hurtling towards the equinox and it’s storms!
Sorry about your missed appointment, Mick. Wise move getting quiet wine boxes, Ash, let the crockery do the rattling!
I had news that saddened me yesterday. My potential purchasers are unable to get funding for my house. They were the perfect couple, with two young teenage sons, both of whom go to the school 200m from here. The house will have to go on the open market.
I’m packed and ready to go to Bristol this morning. Just got to go to the Coop to get my “meal deal” lunch. Hope the tube journey from St. Pancras to Paddington isn’t too busy.
Take care everyone. Have a gentle day. Carpe diem/horam… ?????❤️?

Ashcombe Fri 16-Sept-22 06:06:19

Good morning from La Sarthe where it’s much cooler, making sleep easier.

What a shame regarding your appointment, Mick. I guess postal strikes had an impact. I hope you can rearrange asap.

Today we shall head to Lidl, partly to stock up on wine boxes to take home. They’re less noisy than bottles! I’ve already begun packing my car with some of the crockery and glassware of which DH is disposing, to the benefit of friends and our theatre props department.

Safe travels and kind thoughts to those with worries. ??✝️??

Michael12 Fri 16-Sept-22 05:52:06

Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in brackley this morning.
Today a small shop , I will then go to Bicester and browse about .
Yesterday, not aware of an appointment due going out , when I returned the letter for that appointment was in the post ,anyway I used the letter details and contacted the JR as to seeing a consultant there , email plus trying to get through on the phone etc, if it had arrived the day before I would have altered my plans for yesterday .
Take Care,
Mick
