Do you have a favourite photo or portrait of the Queen?

My favourite is the last one taken a few days ago before she died,she reminded me of my mum,who had she lived would be the same age,but died just short of her 80th birthday.
The picture just made me feel as I wanted to hug her,and feel quite tearful.

I think the most poignant one was at Phillips funeral,sat alone,one solitary tear escaping.
She looked so lonely.

Looking for a photograph of HRH The Queen I also love the one , which GrannyGravy has posted .
Those greys would be quite strong to hold at her age and frailty .

I admire the last photograph of her standing and smiling and doing her duty right to the last moment .

Definitely the last one, not only for her radiant smile, but her stature reminds me so much of my mum in her last years insomuch as how she also shrank and became so tiny and frail it has a real poignancy for me.

I have been looking at the many photographs of The Queen in her younger years and realise she exuded the glamour of the 1950s, I also watched a programme on BBC I Player of that era, where famous people, such as Paul McCartney, Lulu to name but two spoke about growing up in that post war era and their recollections of The Queen. Very interesting!

I love that one too Urms. The last one at Balmoral is very poignant and always brings tears to my eyes and moved me when I saw it before she took a bad turn.

I love that photo of her at the top Urms it’s one of my favourites.

I also have one taken on her last visit to the city in 2017. I was right at the front and got some good shots.

Strep mum?

A couple of years ago, we visited Shugborough Hall where Lord Lichfield lived.
There were lots of his photos, naturally, including many of HM. My strep mum pointed at one, and said, ‘that’s my Queen’.
It was taken around 1975.
I’ve been thinking about that a lot recently. I think we all have our own versions of HM.

Actually, seeing that last photo, it’s hard to believe HM died only two days later. It doesn’t seem real whenever I look at it. Hard to get your head around as that genuine smile still shone through till the last.

Ah yes, this one Ailidh? I was torn between the two to be honest. I do love that she seems so homely in this one - like everyone’s grandma (or mum). But the chuckling one won out for me.

Apparently there are hundreds of portraits too. Some were stunning art. And some were quirky. And a few were .... not that well received.

Mine is The Last One, by herself in front of the fireplace.

She looked her age, she looked frail, and she looked full of life and enthusiasm and enquiry, exactly like my Mum, who also died at 96, 6 years ago.
