Chilly but sunny this morning, looks like a real Indian summer day. We have a special evensong at 5.00 this afternoon so I shall go to that but nothing else scheduled other than a bit of garden tidying. Sunday can be a long day.

Hope Gingster’s long suffering daughter feels rather better soon. Such an exhausting time for the whole family.

Jaxjacky Sun 18-Sept-22 08:54:56

Morning all from blue skies with a chill in S Hants.
Enjoy the musical Gingster recharge your batteries, what a tough time your daughter is having.
I’m out with my son later to collect his hybrid bike, he’ll be riding it part way home so I’m glad it’s not raining.
Final bits in the garden, runner beans can come down, they’ve been rubbish this year, the heatwave I think.
Enjoy your day best you can all ??

Greyduster hoping for the best.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 18-Sept-22 08:43:04

Good morning all from dull Harrogate.
Glad you have your appointment sorted Mick
Oh Georgesgran hope you get a chance at some shut eye soon, you must be exhausted!
Looks like you may have a local cat burglar who steals washing!
Will try to get to church this morning, then have to get more paint for the work being done
I washed the curtains yesterday which happily don’t have to be ironed
Safe journey to those travelling today.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from a sunny but chilly south Hants where DDog is waiting for his morning walk ☀️

Haven’t has a chance to look at the posts yet but will do later.

Admin today and sort out of one of the bedrooms. DH painting new trellis - hopefully the last coat today.

Have the best day you can everyone ???

Hugs and ? for you all x

Good morning all from bright and cool South Lanarkshire.

We managed to spend a couple of hours at the fortieth part last night. We were sitting alone and felt a little self conscious amongst all the groups of people. There was no opportunity for mingling and the dancing hadn’t yet got going so we slipped out quietly and went home. We’ve become the oldies sitting in the corner. grin

DD and family are coming for dinner today, I’ve made a huge vegetarian lasagne as the nine year old has been a veggie for a couple of years, I usually make something separate for her but decided we can all do without meat today.

Bon voyage to anyone travelling today and sending good wishes for those not in the best of health.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Wyllow3 Sun 18-Sept-22 08:26:58

Grammaretto I do go atm, its a little MfW and quietly supportive.

Gingster all the best for DD - and help for her.

Greyduster Sun 18-Sept-22 08:25:31

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where we have watery sunshine. Glad you have a date for your surgery, Mick. I had a phone call from my nephew yesterday to say his DD had gone into labour at 26 weeks with her first baby. It’s a little boy and he’s being looked after in the special baby unit at our maternity hospital. I’m trying to pluck up courage to ring and ask how he is but I’m afraid to in case the news is not good. I will be heartbroken if they lose him. DD and her menfolk will be over for a roast dinner later so I will be busy today.
Have the best day you can folks.

brook2704 Sun 18-Sept-22 08:22:41

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another grey and cold start to the day. We’ve not seen the sun up here for a good few days now so hope it turns up soon.
Hoping you all enjoy the farewell celebrations today gMattie and the move goes well
Nothing much planned again for me today, just the usual household stuff and a bit of gardening. I’m gradually swapping the summer clothes into the bottom drawers and getting the jumpers and leggings out. The summer sandals are having a good clean before putting away too
Safe journey Ashcombe and everyone else travelling today
Hope everyone meeting up with friends and family has a good day and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny ?Northampton. Need to shake a leg and get ready to attend a church service for the Queen in our town centre. Just felt I needed to go.

Queued for 45 minutes yesterday to get my Covid booster - although there were people there like me who had appointments, we were just mixed in with people who were 'walk-ins', absolutely no organisation whatsoever. Will make sure not to do that again.

Went for a coffee and drink at a new bar in town, then headed to the rugby ground for our first home match of the season - which I'm glad to say we won! Sat on my own yesterday, as DD and her DH are away in Prague for the weekend, and the people the other side of me have not renewed their season tickets. But plenty of other people around me.

Hope Sunday goes well for all.

Marydoll Sun 18-Sept-22 08:16:18

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow.
I'm glad to hear you have your appointment now Mick.
It would be wise to take someone with you for support, just in case you don't pick up everything the consultant is saying.

I'm off to church this morning, not really to pray, (?), but to sort out some admin. Labore est orare! ?
Organising a parish census is another responsibility I have and it's blooming hard work. We have a parish of about 3000 members, but after lockdown, we started getting new parishioners, and many remain anonymous. Therefore, we need to update parish records and mailing lists. My Microsoft Office skills will need refreshed!
Due to GDPR legislation, I have to ensure that we are rigorous in protecting people's personal information, it's reminding others of this, which is difficult.

Yesterday, to keep my mind off my woes, I picked brambles in the overgrown lane, behind our house, it was so quiet and peaceful. Good for the soul!
Not a soul to be seen, apart from a neighbour's son, who nearly gave me a heart attack, when he unexpectedly came out of the bushes. I think he may have had a bigger fright than me! ?
Using the windfall apples.
I made a batch of apple and blackberry crumble. I am sick of the sight of apples, but there are still more to use.???????????????
This smug joy in being self sufficient is waning.?

Keeping all those, who are poorly, in my thoughts and prayers.

You all sound so busy today, so enjoy! After church, I plan to lie in the conservatory, reading the papers, watching my foreign rubbish on TV and perhaps indulge in a little chocolate eating, in moderation of course. So many foodstuffs banned for me at the moment.?

Georgesgran get to bed, you must be exhausted!!

Beechnut Sun 18-Sept-22 08:06:59

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. I think it’s going to be another nice day.

I went to pick up something from my brother yesterday and seen how his big garden project is coming on. He’s been working on it all summer.
I’ve got to get on and sort out a new shelf system as when reaching for my file folders they fell and cut my cheek ☹️
Housework and ironing this morning and then out into the garden to tidy up.

Have a good day day all and enjoy your roasts ?

Grammaretto Sun 18-Sept-22 08:02:38

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's been a long night with little sleep. Is this the after covid effect?
Chilly today but still. I've invited a df to drive me to see an exhibition in a walled garden.
Since I lent my car to my DS while he's in the country, I keep forgetting I don't have one.
I'm glad you have another appt booked Mick and ho.pe your sister can go with you.
It's really good to have another set of ears to take it all in.
gMattie isn't that nice that everybody is kind to you even if they squabble among themselves. I hope the house move goes well.

Wyllow3 I am a Quaker too but don't go to MfW every week.
Welcome to the GM thread btw
Have a good day those travelling or out and about. Gingster special thoughts for your DD.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 18-Sept-22 08:02:24

Morning all

Mick you seem to be getting excellent care and attention from the NHS

grandMattie I expect your DD and family are a mixture of excited anticipation and sad reflections, wishing them well. As for your GD being a Madame to her big sister, try not to worry siblings go through stages they could be best friends next month.

Safe journeys to those travelling, enjoy the sun those who are abroad,

Well there is a nip in the air here in S E Essex, I had to put socks on yesterday ut did keep the top of my kitchen door open most of the day, closed it around 4pm. Absolutely nothing planned for today, DH will cook breakfast and I will cook roast chicken for a late Sunday night roast (7.30 ish)

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday ??‍♀️

ginny Sun 18-Sept-22 08:00:26

Good morning everyone. I think there is a small ray of sunshine peeking through.
Glad Mick has his appointments.
Thanks Marydoll for your good wishes yesterday. I have had gout in my hand. Doctor is arranging X rays for my hand and my hip as I am still experiencing a lot of pain . Hate taking tablets but have to give in sometimes.

Today all the family are meeting up for lunch to celebrate our eldest DGSs 20th ( !!! )birthday which is on Wednesday. Not sure if his Great Grandmother will come as she has been a bit under the weather this week.

Wishing you a pleasant Sunday with a smile along the way.

Pittcity Sun 18-Sept-22 07:57:01

Good morning from an overcast Colchester. It feels chilly here. All the windows are shut for the first time in ages. DH will open them when he gets home later so I'd best layer up. I need to pop to Aldi for some cheese but otherwise a quiet day here.
Love to all ? x

ShazzaKanazza Sun 18-Sept-22 07:55:43

Ginster how worrying for you all. Your DD deserves rest and comfort while she’s feeling so poorly?? enjoy the show x

Abitbarmy Sun 18-Sept-22 07:53:23

Good morning all. I’m an occasional visitor to this thread, but do love reading all your updates. We’re travelling down to Dorset for a few days today, looking forward to staying in a lovely apartment overlooking the sea. Staying overnight on route so the journey isn’t too taxing on DH. Hoping we can put the many worries we have currently to the backs of our minds for a while. DH was up in again in the night stressing over stuff, consequently I lay awake too. After Dorset, off to spend a few days with sister in Somerset, we don’t see enough of each other these days. Must water all the greenhouse stuff first then hope that there maybe some remaining toms ripe when we get back. Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Gingster Sun 18-Sept-22 07:51:21

Good morning all from a very still Essex.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with DD in hospital. They’re very easy about visiting times. She had the result of her head scan which showed her brain was ok but she has something behind her left eye. It’s amazing/frightening how these tests show up things we didn’t know we had. We are all walking around with things going on in our body but until we have blood tests/scans/X-rays etc, we are none the wiser.
Her painful joints and muscles have eased now she’s on the steroids, so feeling much more comfortable.

Poor girl was in a ward with a lady in the next bed who didn’t stop talking, claiming she was a spiritualist and wandering around half the night talking to spirits and waking my DD up to tell her. She got no sleep. The nurse found her another bed in a different ward with an elderly lady who at night has a tube ,to clear congestion , that beeps continually. She sent me a sound track - what a nightmare! ?. All you want when you’re poorly is rest and relaxation.

Today I’m going to see ‘Six’ the musical at the Cliffs Pavilion. DIL and two gd’s are taking me, while DH and DS1 visit DD.
I’ll enjoy getting away from medical stuff for a few hours.

GM another poignant day for you. ?.

Ash I hope journey is trouble free. Take care with the old crocks! (I don’t mean Olddudders. ).

Wishing everyone a ‘good’ day, whatever it brings. ?

Wyllow3 Sun 18-Sept-22 07:40:06

Good Morning from an overcast S Yorks.

Its Quakers MfW then the gym today.

Bests for all procedures, Mick.

georgesgran you live up my DGC way. -4 of them, aged 4.6.8.10. You'll need to hit the sheets asap. Seeing them next weekend!

I'm glad the children stay at the same school grandmattie keeping friends really important.

May all have days that bring comforts and good moments

NannyJan53 Sun 18-Sept-22 07:35:23

Good morning from a dull and chilly Black Country.

Woke up after having a bad dream (to do with losing important things), realised it wasn't real and breathed a sigh of relief.

Lovely meal out for my birthday next Tuesday with some of the family. I shall be 69! It only seems a year or two since I was 60.

Last minute tidying and packing today. We shall set off from here about 5pm for the hotel at the Airport. Up early Monday morning. Flight is 8am so we will sadly miss the State Funeral.

Wishing you all a lovely day

ShazzaKanazza Sun 18-Sept-22 07:30:00

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull.

It was our first night in months under the duvet and it was cosy. DH actually turned the heating back on last night for a while.

Today I’m going with DD to a family fun day where she has a stall to promote her ante natal business. I’m going along to look after baby B. She’s still feeding her herself so doesn’t want to leave her at home.
Her business is going quite well and she also hosts free coffee and cake sessions in cafe’s where mums can come along with their babies and get support.
It was lovely to see my brother yesterday at his granddaughters party. We aren’t particularly close but always have a hug and a chat when we see each other.

Have a good day everyone and enjoy family get togethers and Sunday lunches.
Thoughts to those under the weather today. ??

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 18-Sept-22 07:25:01

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I am having a lie in after getting up at 6 am yesterday. Church today - the one which has Book of Common Prayer services. Then, out for lunch again! Two of our our favourite restaurants in the area have reopened so we thought we’d support the one which does the best Sunday roasts. They closed briefly after a fire. The other restaurant was sold and I have to say the new owner’s idea of a tasty menu (we saw it on line) isn’t quite ours! The prices are high and they slightly changed the name of the place too! I have some WI admin to do today and various other bits and pieces. I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

BlueBalou Sun 18-Sept-22 07:23:55

Good morning everyone from chilly Wiltshire, it’s definitely autumnal this morning.
We’re driving to a local village for a walk this morning with a stop for coffee I hope.
A quiet day here.
I hope you all have a lovely day x
