Good morning, all, from a chilly Sarthe! Four degrees!
Thanks for remembering our travel plans, grandMattie! I hope today leaves you all with good memories of the parish as your family moves on to a new chapter in their lives.
Safe travels to all and enjoy the holidays or family times you’ve planned. Every blessing to the anxious. ??✝️??

Good Morning Sunday 18th September 2022
(60 Posts)Here’s Matt.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s just getting light. The train station office is still lit up like a Christmas tree. I can see the Pennines - ‘the backbone of England’ - and the town centre is so quiet this early on a Sunday morning. You could hear a pin drop. No traffic (yet).
My stepfather is coming over to join us for dinner today. I haven’t seen him for seven weeks. He’s kept himself occupied in his small garden, watching outdoor bowls matches two or three afternoons a week and going to the clubhouse two nights a week. He’s 90y old in a couple of weeks and a trip up to Plockton is planned to celebrate the event. He will very much enjoy setting off two weeks today to see his family in the West Highlands. Himself is going, he’s the baby of the group at 70y, my uncle too who is 80y and the birthday boy at 90y. I joke with them all that it’s the Last of the Summer Wine on Tour.
I’m making beef in ale (a lá Delia), mash, sweet corn cabbage and carrots - all his favourites. He said yesterday on the phone “are we doing our usual and having our medicine in the bar downstairs first?”. Love it (and him).
Enjoy Sunday all who can. I’m glad you’ve got an appointment for next week Mick and hope it goes well for you. grandMattie another poignant day for your family, your emotions must be all over the place these days. It seems you are all able to draw comfort from one another which is heartening. You and your daughter seem closer which is a blessing in itself.
Good morning all from Menorca. I’ve just woken up to this lovely sunrise. It’s still breezy.
We had a very pleasant day out in Mahon yesterday and found our bearings a bit more. There was a market near to where we got off the bus. Had a nice tapas lunch and came across the Mercat des Pescadors. What an amazing place. Reminded me of La Boqueria in Barcelona. Rows and rows of Pinchos, tapas, paellas etc. It was a shame we’d already had lunch but enjoyed a couple of drinks there sat in the sun and a pleasant atmosphere.
DH is still snoring so not sure of our plans today.
I didn’t get my pants back but wasn’t the only one who lost some as there was another pair and a trainer sock on the roof below over the main lobby area ?
Good morning from Kent where it is still dark but doesn't feel as chilly as yesterday.
DGD2 and I had a lovely time in the park yesterday afternoon, she had a great time in the playground then we fed the ducks in the pond. We got through a whole box of duck food and she was surrounded by them at one stage.
Her older sister, who is 14, is such a lovely girl and really helps out. Whilst I cleared up after dinner she took C upstairs for a shower and hair wash and got her ready for bed.
DD2 and SIL will be back at lunchtime and I've said I will prepare the veg for a roast later.
I hope you all have a very pleasant Sunday xx
Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly corner of Somerset.
Had a frustrating shopping trip but truly enjoyable time with the family yesterday. A sad visit to my parents grave, it would have been my Mums birthday today, we always did something special and 31 years on I still find the day a bleak one.
Some paperwork to deliver later, roast pork to prepare, perhaps look at some photos and that’s about it. We’ll both need to recharge.
Good to have some clarity mick. If it’s any consolation our two can be exactly as you describe grandmattie. Hope today goes well. You deserve a nap later georgesgran, you’ll be shattered.
Have the best day you can everyone. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.
Good morning Mick and all who follow, another one who's up early. DH is fishing so I've an empty, no plans as yet will see what the weather is doing when it gets lighter.
Will catch up with everybody's news later.
Safe travels those on the move, best wishes for anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Sunday and may you all find some ?.
Good morning from a dark, chilly Bristol. The temperature is in single figures.
I’m glad you’ve now got an appointment, Mick; it makes for much less uncertainty and you will get reassurance from the consultant.
We had a weird (for me) day yesterday. Very little is like how DD had when she lived at home, but they are so sweet towards me. DGD1 has become particularly empathetic and tries so hard to make other people’s lives happy. For example, she was invited by her aunt to go to a “sustainable fashion” show, etc. she was dying to go but didn’t want not see me. This from a 12yo child. I reassured her that it was fine and to go. She had a lovely time.
On the other hand, Iris like the rest of the family, is feeling very anxious about their move next week, but is being a nightmare. She is an absolute cow to her elder sister. It’s hard to watch.
Today, we are having DD’s last service at this lovely church and then a farewell lunch. It will be an emotional day. They have been here for 8 years, most of the girls’ lives. At least, they are not moving far and will stay in their schools.
Hope the travellers have good journey (especially those with rattling bottles/crockery!).
Carpe diem/horam. ?❤️?❤️???
Good morning Mick and all to follow from cool Espana- a busy day for swishing a duster and mop around mi Casa this morning ? as we’re off to friends pool ?♀️ party this afternoon. Tomorrow will be spent in front of ? reflecting on Good Queen Bess with a clear conscience and clean Casa ?
Absolutely love those socks GM and BB - friend has been doing loads for NHS workers during lockdown and I could weep with envy?
A peaceful Sunday to you all x
Good morning all from a dark Newcastle. My word Mick you are up early. I haven’t been to bed - had to pick up DD2 and family to drop off at Newcastle airport. Back at her house now to collect the younger dog and a few bits and bobs to take home to Durham whilst they’re away. A week of dog sitting awaits!
Obviously too early for other posters, so I’ll read through later, but meanwhile, I wish everyone a pleasant, peaceful Sunday.
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry this morning in brackley .
