This is a lovely thread!

Good morning Mick, and everyone else!

It’s very overcast here in Lancashire. I’m three weeks into recovery from my second hip replacement, and things are going well. I can still work remotely, and I’m getting lots of batch cooking done too. This afternoon, I will walk slowly to my friend’s house because I’m pet sitting her tortoise whilst she’s away. That’ll get my steps in for the day smile.

Happy Tuesday! X

Lovely to have you back Grandmabatty, belated Happy Birthday and many happy returns of the day.?

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

What a morning so far. Everything went wrong starting very early then other things started going extra right. Feels like a day work (CFS limits) just a few more hoops to jump then can relax this afternoon.

Happy birthday Grandmabatty.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent, settling back in after a good break in Norfolk, piles of washing as I did nothing but sit and watch the TV yesterday. DD2 came and joined me for the Abbey service and DD1 was online so we shared it all together.
I also need a shoe and clothes cull, I need to face up to the things that no longer fit and send them on their way.
Good wishes to all.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Blossoming Tue 20-Sept-22 09:43:04

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cloudy and grey and feeling chill in this corner of Lancashire today.

Hope your appointments go well Mick. Mr. B and I are off to the hospital. He has a podiatry appointment for an ingrown toenail and I have some blood tests. Will catch up on the thread later.

hollysteers Tue 20-Sept-22 09:42:38

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Need to get moving today after overdosing on royal events yesterday. I snapped the cortège passing right outside my DDs flat in Windsor on the TV, sadly she is abroad with her job for a couple of days,
Car windows need fixing and I’m in charge at our music club this afternoon for the first time.
Hope appointments go well Mick and hope you all have the best day you can.

Good morning from grey S Lanarkshire. Welcome back Grandmabatty

First book club of the season this morning, I’m looking forward to it, a really nice group of ladies. The downside is that the decision pre summer was that we would chose this year’s books from the list provided by our local library and I have found that an impossible task. Some research necessary for me!

Such a disappointment GrannySomerset, blasted Covid is still messing with our lives. My sister and husband have just had their holiday in Portugal wrecked by it. Having avoided infection throughout the whole pandemic, she ‘got it’ a couple of weeks before their departure date but tested negative as did BiL two days before leaving. The day after they arrived he became poorly and was quite unwell for the whole week. They were fortunate to have a ground floor room with patio doors opening on to a garden and just had room service. They managed one early morning walk along the edge of the sea and she bent down to pick up a lovely shell and dropped the sandals she was carrying into the sea?!

Wishing everyone a good day???

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but luckily it should stay dry as I have the bedding in the washing machine. Time to put the 7.5 winter duvet on.

Spent most of the day in front of the tv; had bought a mini bottle of fizz to drink, but didn't feel in the mood for it, so had a glass of sherry instead, and gave thanks for a life well lived. Thought it was so well done, and was in floods again at Love Divine, as it was one of our wedding hymns, and sung at DH's funeral.

Very pleased with my dinner last night - roast potatoes and a lamb chop in the air-fryer, cooked.beautifully; still experimenting, but learning from experience.

Health walk this afternoon, and afterwards we have been invited to our walk leader's house for tea/coffee. Then I shall walk home and call into the paper shop on the way to pay my bill.

Hope all goes well today Mick, and also your flat-viewing, grandMattie.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still dark and rainy Carlisle.
It will be a catch up day with housework this morning after a lot of tv yesterday. I find it makes me proud to think 6.5bn people round the world would watch our Queen's send off. Wouldn't happen with any other country.
Hard to get my head round it all this morning....a new monarch and a new PM in one week. These will be interesting times.

Have the best possible day all.

Good morning from Sefton. A nothing day - no sun, no rain, no wind just overcast & chilly.

Another late morning for me. Must be getting the hang of sleeping past 6 o'clock (or thereabouts.)
An unexpected visit from No 1 son & granddaughter yesterday afternoon got us away from the tv & out into the lovely sunshine & an hour or two in the play park.

Apart from a Zoom strength class this morning there is nothing planned for today. Feel at a bit of a loss. Perhaps a dogwash - that's his bedding not the the dog.

Take care all.

Happy belated birthday Grandmabatty?? and welcome back.
Marydoll thanks for the heads up on the shoes shall look them up they do look comfy.

monk, the Lunar site can be pricier than Amazon, so have a look there first. There are so many colour options.

The ones I got yesterday were from www.humphriesshoes.co.uk
They had the best price.

*Happy Birthday, GB!!!1111

Happy belated birthday Grandmabatty ??

GrannyGravy13 Tue 20-Sept-22 08:22:01

Morning all

We were glued to the TV mist if yesterday, the pageantry was spectacular. The lone pipers got me at Westminster Abbey and Windsor.

Some ironing and faffing today. No school pick-up as The Imp has what appears to be tonsillitis so DD trying to get a Doctors appointment for him. The 7yr old would normally sleep over tonight, but as we are going away soon DD will keep him with her in case he is contagious with whatever it turns out his brother has,

Safe journey to those travelling, hope your flat viewing gives you an idea of what you would like grandMattie

It feels like the dawning if a new age, let’s hope it’s a good one.

Keep safe folks ?‍♀️?

Belated birthday greetings Grandmabatty ??? good to see you back.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 20-Sept-22 08:19:29

Good morning from a cooler Pollensa, 18degrees but sunny and due to rise to the low 30s (depending on which forecast you look at) we have another week here, as I suffer badly from heat rash I’ve been in the shade for 2 weeks, this week I might venture out knowing that I will lose the rash and blisters when I get home into the cold. Sadly it says it will rain!!
Anyhoo, I watched the Windsor part of the funeral yesterday, very moving and I was totally undone when I saw the pony….. sobbed most of the time after that. I too wonder about having a King,
I was born just after the Queen was crowned and through the GLB, Brownies and Guides we pledged allegiance to God and the Queen, it’s part of who I am…or was.
My thoughts are with those who have hospital appointments and poorly family members.
Have a peaceful day everyone.

Marydoll Tue 20-Sept-22 08:18:16

So please to see you posting Grandmabatty! I was just thinking about you this morning and wondering how things were. ?

Shelflife Tue 20-Sept-22 08:12:47

Good morning everyone, popping on to confirm Marydolls opinion of Luna shoes . I have a light grey pair and yes - very soft and comfortable!

Grandmabatty Tue 20-Sept-22 08:12:12

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and it looks like rain is coming. I've had a few weeks away dealing with family issues and would like to thank the lovely posters who have mentioned me and those who have sent me supportive messages. You know who you are ?.
Yesterday was my birthday and, of course, everything was closed. I went to dd at night for a takeaway and to put dgs1 to bed. He demanded a story and was taking ages to choose, when we heard his dad's voice through the monitor telling him to get a move on. It was funny. Apparently dgs1 has found ways of prevaricating. Dgs2 is sweetness personified as he works out ways of getting his own way. At ten months, he's a master of the winning smile.
I should be going to art class today but I have a stinker of a cold. However I didn't make it last week. I was filling up on petrol and noticed a massive leak of something pouring from the front of the car. Instant panic! My local garage told me to bring it in and, to my relief, it was absolutely nothing to worry about. The air conditioning compressor had frozen and was releasing lots of condensation at exactly the same time as I was filling up. Phew.
I hope everyone has a good day.

GrannySomerset Tue 20-Sept-22 07:59:33

A friend and I are due to go for a short break on Wednesday but she has gone down with Covid and is quite poorly. I am really not ready to go on my own so need a conversation with the small company involved - but their office is not staffed on a Tuesday. Could be a tricky and worrying day.

Meanwhile I have a couple of maintenance appointments and need to shrug off the gloom induced by the last week, proud though I was of yesterday.

Like Marydoll I need a shoe cull because there are too many pairs I can no longer wear. Not today, though.

brook2704 Tue 20-Sept-22 07:53:05

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey but the cloud looks lighter with a bit of blue sky too
Hope all appointments and check ups go well today mick, monk, cornergran greyduster and anyone else I might have missed
Another quiet day today with just some housework and gardening but I might go out for a local walk by the river too
Safe journey to all those travelling today
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Marydoll Tue 20-Sept-22 07:46:50

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow.
Good luck with your appointments Mick. I hope you have someone to accompany you, to be another pair of ears and ensure you know exactly what is happening.

I too had a restless night of strange dreams, one involved me trying to buy emerald earrings, which Prince Harry was selling on QVC!!!!!
The other wasn't so funny, it involved a hospital visit, where I was told my stomach was being removed the following day, despite there being no biopsy results back yet. There was no point in messing about, the doctor said.?
I could however have a curry for dinner the previous evening, if I wished. It wouldn't affect the op and it would be my last one
ever!!! It seamed so real when I woke up
The worry over my stomach problems is obviously rooted deep within my psyche!

Yesterday involved a shoe cull, with a fair number going to the charity shop,
Ever since I was a wee girl, I have loved pretty shoes, probably because I only ever owned one pair at a time, school ones, we were too poor to have Sunday shoes.
I'm too embarrassed to say how many pairs I have now , most bought from markets abroad, when I have been on holiday. I knew all the places in Rome to get beautiful, leather shoes and boots, at a fraction of the price.
Sadly, due to my RA, I am no longer able to get them on.?
Kalu, Yesterday, I bought a pair of those Lunar shoes we like, olive green ones. For anyone, who has never heard of them, they are soooooo comfortable.

DH is decorating our bedroom next week, so we are off to look for bedding and curtains. I have trawled the internet, but cannot see anything, which jumps out at me.
My RA has flared up and I would rather wallow rest in my office, the conservatory, watching rubbish. ?

Hoping to hear positive news from Greyduster and that the DDs are the best, they can be on their long and painful journey.
I have not read the thread properly, so best wishes to anyone, who is poorly and safe journey, GM.
