Pj wearers taking children to school,

well quite early for being away iykwim

I've seen people in quite posh hotels having breakfast in the communal eating area/restaurant in pyjamas. I didn't know if it was unusual or not as sometimes breakfast seems quite early

We were staying at a Premier Inn last week and were surprised to see a Dad and son at breakfast in their ‘jamas. Each to their own I suppose.

I wouldn't do it, but as harmful things go it's pretty near the bottom of the list. I'm happy to wear PJs in the house until I want to go out or take a video call, and if that doesn't happen then I leave them on and change to a clean pair for bed. I've seen comments on here judging that, but I can't see why on earth it matters, or why anyone would care. Nobody sees me except Mr Dog, and he doesn't mind in the least, I save on washing and am comfortable.

Time was when people would talk about you if you went out without a hat, or wore the wrong gloves for the time of year. In years to come this could be looked on in the same way.

Maybe it’s because in some households it is chaotic in the morning and it’s just let’s get the kids to school then I can have time to myself to shower and get dressed.

Perhaps people who go out in their jimjams (or "loungewear") just don't care, perhaps because their self-esteem is at rock bottom and they've reached the "what's the point" mark. At least the kids get to school.

I am use to it and so don’t see much wrong with. When spending the winter months in SE Asia it was usual in one country for the ladies to wear pj all morning, doing their shopping etc, then have a shower and change.

Yes, I agree it’s lazy but there must be a good reason why these folk wear their might attire in public? I have to get properly dressed to run down to my bin in case the neighbour sees me. Mind you, I do sleep in the altogether ?

I suspect someone in a dressing gown in a park with a dog might be unwell

8 years ago when my son was doing his A levels (politics and English ) he was invited to spend a day at The Independent newspaper.
The media sub-editor arrived at the morning editorial meeting wearing PJs and slippers. As nobody batted an eyelid he assumed it must have been his normal attire.

My friend and l were walking our dogs yesterday afternoon and a lady was in her dressing gown in the park.
It doesn't really matter but it does seem a bit lazy.
Maybe it's to do with my age/generation but l get dressed and showered even at 6.30am for Finn's first walk.

I’m sure I’ve hear of schools asking parents to please not do this.
However I dare say that the sort of people who habitually do it are unlikely to give a monkey’s about any pleas from head teachers.

I could never do it, I like to shower and dress before I go out. I find it slovenly.

Presumably if people are walking about in their pyjamas early in the morning they haven't washed. Not pleasant.

Went to our surgery this morning 7.30 to a an appointment and a woman turned up to join the queue in her nightie, a pair of trousers on underneath and a jacket over the top. She said she overslept and didn’t have time to dress properly. Loved it says me standing in the queque clutching a hot water bottle because it was a bit nippy this morning

I've seen mums picking their kids up from school in the afternoon still in PJs and dressing gowns, must have been in them all day! yuck ?
