Pj wearers taking children to school,

Just exactly how do you know what is or is not night attire?
At the beginning of summer I bought some M&S summer trousers and have worn them regularly .
Just recently I was browsing online and came across some men's pyjamas that looked as though they were made from the same material as my trousers. ( Navy blue with little white dotted circles).
In any case, I would far rather see mums on the school run in pyjamas than bikinis or negligees!

Of course, if you have a partner, that's a pint of sweat you're lying in... 7 pints a week of sweat.

So if we all sweat so much at night, do you all change your beds every day, or do you just climb back into the stink every night?

The original poster isn't judging but several others are. People presume that someone hasn't washed or brushed their teeth because they are in pyjamas. You don't know this is a fact so should not say it...simple.

Do people wear their underwear under their pj’s if they’re outside? I couldn’t possibly go out without putting my bra and knickers on first, and then I may as well put day clothes on, not more pj’s. Plus I only have one set of nightwear, which is for when I’m proper ill.

I really don't care what people wear, but the thought of them getting out of bed - where evidently we perspire and lose about half a pint of sweat - and then mixing with people at the school gates - yuk. They must be a bit whiffy; I couldn't drink my first cuppa without having had a shower.

Well, it's a signal isn't it? 'I don't care about my children or whether they are failures.'

Or a way of teaching your children to be comfortable in their own skin despite what a pointless society construct is deeming to tell you.

I don't think it's at all appropriate to be wearing night wear outside. Sorry call me judgemental if you wish, but what happened to taking pride in one's appearance and what is it telling their children.

Good grief, what a snobbish thread / what appalling value judgements!

As a teacher working in a deprived area, I saw young parents / single mothers wearing all sorts of garb to bring their children to school. But the fact that they got their children to school was the main thing, and to be applauded, given the circumstances of some of their lives. Wearing PJs outside is clearly not appropriate, but not everyone lives the lives some of you obviously do.

Not done it, but my PJs look like lounge wear and and my GD said of a new pair of check M&S trousers = nan why are you wearing your PJs. you can't win. I remember struggling to get myself and the children ready and dhressed for school years ago - would have been tempted to have just dashed out in pjs

On the day of my first communion, we overslept so my father drove me to the church in his pyjamas. As local vet, he was recognised and hailed cheerfully

I'm sure some of you can think up something.

Why would you want to go out in your nightclothes. If you don't have time to look for clothes in the morning put them ready the night before. It's just bone idle and sets a bad example for their children.

I don't like to see it. They've presumably slept sweated slobbered and who knows what else in those PJs. Other people may be equally or more unwashed but it's not evident. Of course they have a perfect right to wear what they like - and I have perfect right not to like it!

In the winter, I put my waterproofs on over my pyjamas to walk the dogs. I get sweaty, so I don’t want to put fresh clothes on. I just chuck them in the wash when I get home, and have a shower.

Many years ago when I was pregnant and on maternity leave it had been snowing heavily and my DH needed a lift to the station, (normally used a moped but it was too dangerous.)
I threw a dressing gown over my nightie and got in the car while he drove down , I was going to drive it back.
Unfortunately he skidded on the ice to avoid an oncoming car and into a snowbank, damaging our car so it was undriveable. So I was on the side of a snowy, icy road in my dressing gown and slippers, waiting for the tow truck. On a snowy January morning. Bloody cold. Luckily a neighbour went past and stopped to give me a lift, tow truck arrived at the same time.
Lesson learned.

I live in PJ's I don't sleep in them though You are unlikely to see me out in them apart from dog walk at 7am but you wouldn't know they were ok bottoms under my coat NB I am washed and my hair is combed
